At the Lu family home, Lu Xiaoling walked around the table in the living room, gazing at the seats. She counted them all, one by one, and as she got to count the last chairs, Lu Xiaoling's face twisted slightly.

She then walked out of the room and went to see her mother who sat on the couch with some tea at her side.

"There are too many seats." Lu Xiaoling said matter-of-factly.

Without looking up at her daughter, Grandma Lu took a breath.

"There aren't." Grandma Lu said nonchalantly as she continued sipping her tea.

Hearing this, Lu Xiaoling frowned.

Seeing such a dubious expression on the woman's face, Grandma Lu pursed her lips.

"You'll find out later." Grandma Lu said before she excused herself.

Seeing her mother leave, Lu Xiaoling was even more curious but she did not go pester the woman for answers even though she wanted to.

As soon as her mother left, Lu Xiaoling was about to go check on other things but then, she heard her father call to her.

"Xiaoling, where's Duyi?" Grandpa Lu said as he walked up to the woman.

Hearing him, Lu Xiaoling sighed and put her hands on her hips. "He's out."

Grandpa Lu: "And Shuya?"

"Out." Lu Xiaoling said with annoyance.

"And..." Grandpa Lu started but Lu Xiaoling was tired of her father's questions so she said,

"Are you going to ask about Jiayi and Xinya? If so, I don't know and I don't care."

Hearing this, Grandpa Lu was quiet, and then he began to leave.

Ever since Lu Xiaoling had first left home, her relationship with her father hadn't been great.

She had fought with her father before getting married to Yian. She had just wanted to be free... like her eldest brother had received his freedom.

Though her situation and her brothers situation were different. While she had always been studying and working hard towards fulfilling her father's and mothers wishes, Lu Xiaoling's eldest brother, Lu Xing had never cared.

So much so that when he had gotten the chance, the man had left to go abroad.

This would have been a problem if he had been a smart man but when it came to businesss and studying he was lame, so their mother and father had let him be.

Sadly for Lu Xiaoling she was everything but lame. She was competent, smart and hardworking.

And sometimes she regretted this fact.

"What about AnLing? Aren't you going to ask about her?" Lu Xiaoling asked antagonistically.

"She's coming tonight?" Grandpa Lu asked with a frown.

Lu Xiaoling: "You have a problem with that?"

Grandpa Lu gave a light laugh, shook his head and then said,

"I don't have any problem with her. It's just that she hasn't come to a family meeting in years and now that we're deciding inheritance she's coming home."

"Don't you dare speak like that... this just proves you don't like her." Lu Xiaoling said as anger came through her voice.

Hearing this, Grandpa Lu scoffed. "That's not true."

"Are you sure? Or do you still not believe me... That she is my child?" Lu Xiaoling asked a bit awkwardly.

Hearing this, Grandpa Lu frowned. "It's not about that. I know that that child is a Lu by blood but what about her mind? We don't know what thoughts the man who raised her put in her head?"

Lu Xiaoling: "Her father wouldn't raise her badly... he was a good man."

"Oh yeah? How would you know? You left the man. But really, who is this man, truly?" Grandpa Lu said with a worse frown.

"His name is Lu Yian. I already told you." Lu Xiaoling said with a frown.

Lu Xiaoling had no plans of revealing Lu AnLing's connection with the Tang's. She didn't know what problems this could cause and Lu Xiaoling had already believed that she had hurt her daughter enough.

Grandpa Lu frowned. "I want the truth."

Granpa Lu had done a lot of research and he did not find any information on the man named Lu Yian.

Lu Xiaoling clenched her teeth.

Looking into her father's eye, Lu Xiaoling wanted to scream but Grandpa Lu's gaze did not waver.

As her family gathered inside, Kang Jun and Lu AnLing had just arrived at the Lu House.

Seeing the home, Lu AnLing took big breath before she stepped out of the car.

Once she was out, feeling the cold air hit her face, Lu AnLing's hands turned into tight firsts but because of her wounds, her palms stung and she was forced to let her hands relax.

As soon as Kang Jun had seen her move in pain, he went to grab her hand and then he took her face into his hands and said,

"No matter what happens, I'm here."

Hearing this, Lu AnLing's heart raced as she began to focus her mind on the man's touch.

As she did this, a giggle came to their ears.

Kang Jun and Lu AnLing turned towards the sound.

There they saw a little girl, around Kang Mingyu or Kang Mei Xue's age. She was a pretty little girl with long straight hair that was neatly tied up into a ponytail.

As the girl ran forwards, the ponytail trailed behind her.

Looking at her, Lu AnLing cocked her head for a second.

The little girl then ran towards the door, but just as he was about to reach it, she tripped and fell.

Quickly, the little girl got up. And at first she looked calm and unscathed but then, she looked down at her blood covered knees.

Suddenly, the beautiful young girl's features twisted completely and tears streamed down the little girl's face as she collapsed to the ground once more.

Lu AnLing looked around in confusion because none of her relatives had a child this young. Bending down, Lu AnLing smiled slightly and touched the girl on the head.

Seeing her cry, Lu AnLing lifted the girl off the surface and then she held her in her arms and coaxed the little girl. Feeling this, she suddenly stopped crying and then looked at Kang Jun.

The little girl blinked her tears away and then began to smile shyly.

Seeing this, Lu AnLing smiled. "He's handsome isn't he?"

The little girl nodded vigorously.
