Chapter 121 : Deceiving Uncle Sheng (18)

Shu Nuan could never have expected that the next night, she would meet Sheng Qianmo again.

After finishing her homework, she arrived early at the Moon Pavilion. The boss told her that some guests had asked her to come by. Shu Nuan didn’t think much; holding the guqin, she went over.

Upon entering, she saw the screen had been pushed aside by the guest. She frowned at the bead curtain, the faint outline of the person upon it seeming a little familiar.

As Shu Nuan held the guqin tight in her hand, a faint voice came from inside.

“Come in.”

With some difficulty, holding the heavy guqin in one hand, she reached over and opened the bead curtain with the other hand, becoming shocked.

Sheng Qianmo was sitting on the couch, leaning his back against it. He gave her a lazy glance, his slender fingers tapping the seat at his side as he ordered, “Sit here.”

Shu Nuan looked at him before taking the guqin over.

She sat down to play under Sheng Qianmo’s intense gaze, tasting his familiar breath that lingered around her.

“What does the Fourth Prince want to hear?” Shu Nuan asked in a low voice, lowering her head and fiddling with the strings.

“Whatever.” He’d spoken casually, eyes resting on her slender white fingers.

Shu Nuan didn’t reply and instead began to play. And as she did, Sheng Qianmo rested for some time before opening his eyes to watch her play the guqin.

Her appearance as she played was outstanding. With her head a little bowed, her neck made a graceful curve, and her movements were elegant: a clever and skillful little girl at first glance. Even if she didn’t talk, sitting quietly and playing the guqin would make anyone in her company enjoy themselves.

However, after she’d completed two pieces, Sheng Qianmo happened to notice that her fingers plucking the strings were red. He frowned and interrupted her with a loud voice. “Stop playing.”

Shu Nuan stopped at once and looked at him, confused.

But Sheng Qianmo only said, “Your skill is not good.”

“Then, I will call the other sisters of the Moon Pavilion.”

Shu Nuan picked up the guqin and began to stand up.

“…” Sheng Qianmo gave her a cold stare, a silent threat. “Sit down,” he said.

Shu Nuan didn’t move. She looked at him and said, “Your Highness, I only play the guqin here.”

Sheng Qianmo wouldn’t listen to her playing the guqin. What else would she be doing here?

“This Prince wants you to sit here.”

After a few moments, Shu Nuan complied.

“Sit for how long?”

“That is This Prince’s business.”

His tone left no room for negotiation.

Shu Nuan knitted her brows and pursed her lips, having no ability to resist.

Was she supposed to speak? If yes, what was she to say to him? What kind of game did he want her to play…?

Nonetheless, Shu Nuan endured her annoyance and sat down.

Sheng Qianmo also stayed idle, resting with his eyes closed, perhaps because he was tired from the military camp in the daytime, thus having no time to say anything to her.

So Shu Nuan accompanied him in resting for a while.

In the end, Sheng Qianmo fell asleep on the couch. Shu Nuan looked at him. His appearance was much more gentle than usual, but his visage was still tough and contemptuous, and lips like a sharp knife, making the viewer fear that he wouldn’t hesitate to ask for their life.

Shu Nuan stared at him for a while before getting up. She took the blanket from the couch and carefully put it on Sheng Qianmo. She then took the guqin and went out.
