Chapter 372: Distorted sight

At the end of the battle, the Fiendish Cheetah had defeated the Penta Illusion Monkey.

But surprisingly, none of them was seriously injured, and it was only their mana consumption and exhaustion that caused the battle to become slower.

Shane had been oblivious to the duration of their fight, but when it came to the end, the Penta Illusion Monkey had just jumped out of the combat arena, which had led to its disqualification.

This move might be foolish, but Shane noticed that it had a deeper meaning.

If they had continued, both would have been injured, and the Penta Illusion monkey had noticed that it was weaker than the Fiendish Cheetah.

As such, it would have lost either way.

However, what made Shane think that the little monkey was intelligent enough to suppress its wild instincts and think thoroughly was the wise decision to jump out of the arena.

It might have lost, but at the same time, it knew that Shane would fight against the Fiendish Cheetah first. If he were to be heavily injured or even die during that battle, the little monkey would automatically advance.

If it were to encounter the Fiendish Cheetah once again, it would already have prepared a proper strategy to counter the mysterious ability the cheetah seemed to have.

Shane was not really worried right now, but he was also not certain of his victory.

The Fiendish cheetah was likely to be faster, and its ability was also something Shane had yet to completely understand.

However, his own capabilities were more than enough to defeat a beast that had yet to become an Overlord.

Not only did the Fiendish cheetah have a physical strength below an Expert with a mana purity of 95%, but the same applied to the Penta Illusion Monkey!

This was because their real strengths lied elsewhere which was something Shane had also clearly understood!

There was not even the need to waste time thinking about his next two opponents' physical strength if one were to exclude the cheetah's speed.

Other things were more important.

Nevertheless, it would take some time before the next battle started.

Several hours passed after the battle of the two beasts, and they had already replenished their consumed mana before it was finally Shane's turn to fight again.

Thus, he entered the small arena and the Fiendish Cheetah simply followed suit.

It seemed to be as relaxed as a beast could be, and Shane began to wonder whether he had been too lenient in his last fight.

Initially, he thought that there was no need for him to kill anyone. Yet, rather than focusing on preventing killing, Shane knew that he had to pay more attention to himself and to protect his own life!

As such, when he stood opposite the Fiendish Cheetah, his entire demeanor changed and he became completely serious.

Shane had decided that he wouldn't show any mercy anymore. The others he was to fight soon were unlikely to bother about holding back against him either!

Roaring out, the Fiendish Cheetah seemed to be eager to rip Shane apart, which caused him to go into a defensive stance.

The battle began only a few seconds later in which many things around Shane changed.

First, he looked straight into the Fiendish Cheetah's eyes that had suddenly begun to glow before turning pitch-black.

Only a moment later his eyesight was distorted and he couldn't see properly anymore. Everything was blurry and darkness flashed before his eyes from time to time.

This would have caused him to become desperate if he hadn't expected something similar to happen.

Shane's assumption was that the Fiendish Cheetah had some kind of ability that weakened its opponent. However, without knowing what exactly it was, Shane could only make assumptions.

Thanks to this, he had been able to stay calm after the initial feeling of shock had worn off.

Nevertheless, this moment had already been enough for the Fiendish Cheetah to shoot towards Shane at a terrifyingly high speed.

Yet, instead of panicking, a faint smile emerged on Shane's face, as a Spatial portal manifested behind him.

Taking a step back, he stepped inside and a moment later appeared at the other end of the arena.

Cosmo could be seen lying on his shoulder, observing the surroundings intently.

Apparently, the Fiendish Cheetah could only target one opponent with the distorted sign ability it had.

As such, Shane might've been momentarily rendered blind, but it was different for Cosmo, let alone Umbra, both of whom could see perfectly.

He might have yet to attain the ability to see through his tamed beasts' eyes properly, but his own distorted sight was extremely distracting.

His eyesight made it almost impossible to concentrate on something else but trying hard to see clearly!

Shane was thankful for having other means to help him see, which was in fact his tamed beasts.

Utilizing his connection with them, he could see a little bit better in comparison to before.

Thus, Shane felt that he was ready to fight!

Gripping the Invincible Scimitar firmly, he exerted the [Slaughterer's Path] technique, allowing him to release huge bloodlust-killing-intent currents while the [Light steps] movement technique allowed him to reach a breathtaking speed.

Shane had yet to transfer mana from the Hidden Paradise into his body or the Invincible Scimitar, but that was exactly what he had wanted.

In the first fight, he had used a large amount of mana at once, which would make the fiendish cheetah believe that his combat prowess relied on his large mana consumption.

However, that was not the case and Shane was strong enough even without his soul bound world.

Right now, the fiendish cheetah was still under the impression that Shane was unable to see properly.

As such, the bloodlust-killing-intent Shane released was only deemed as a means to distract the fiendish cheetah and intimidate it.

At least that was what the fiendish cheetah and even the Penta illusion monkey from the outside of the arena were able to perceive.

Unfortunately, this was entirely wrong, and far away from the truth.

Glad about Shane's drastically reduced combat prowess, the fiendish cheetah charged towards Shane, without realizing what was happening around it.

Not only was Shane extremely calm, but the cheetah had completely failed to notice the Lesser Starlet Fox.

Due to that, it didn't even notice that Shane transferred his entire mana pool into the invincible scimitar before he slashed at his right.

Just as his attack cut through the air, several things happened at once.

Cosmo manifested a spatial portal at the position Shane's slash reached the highest momentum. At the same time, a pair of spatial portals manifested right above the fiendish cheetah's head.

Only when it sensed the spatial fluctuations right above its head did the fiendish cheetah realize that it had committed a huge mistake.

Not only had it underestimated the spatial portal's versatile usage, but also Shane's strength.

Using every possible means to change its trajectory, the fiendish cheetah's limbs creaked and groaned as if they were tearing apart.

However, Cosmo had timed the spatial portal's manifestation perfectly, allowing the invincible scimitar to emerge right above the fiendish cheetah's head, slicing through it.

There was no sign of resistance, and the glorious battle, the Penta illusion monkey was hoping to see, ended with the fiendish cheetah's death by decapitation, before it even began.

This shocked the Penta illusion monkey the most, and Shane's dry smile that was directed at it, made the little monkey shiver in fright.
