Chapter 384: Meaning of Invincibility

Shane's next opponent was a bipedal being, who looked like a cross between a tortoise and a minotaur.

It was a grotesque sight to look at, but Shane didn't even notice anything.

Rather, he was still thinking about Megane, and her being the most likely reason for the attacks on the basic races that had most likely seen her.

Despite that, it was weird for nobody to have posted the news about a Dark Ice Elf halfling roaming freely inside the basic dimensions.

Even if it was dangerous, there were more than enough mindless beings that didn't care about their race's annihilation.

Shane found it a little bit over the top to annihilate an entire race to prevent news from leaking, but it was the most efficient way to kill everyone who might know something.

That was only his rational stance, and it also indicated that something must prevent others from revealing the news about Megane's existence.

According to the Primordial tournament's tag, she was called Megane and belonged to the Dark Ice Elven.

There was no information about another race. However, that could be because her bloodline had a higher percentage of the Dark Ice Elven blood than the advanced race, meaning that the system function of the Primordial tournament would label her as Dark Ice Elf!

However, just as Shane's fight with the Tortaur had begun, a thought flashed through his mind.

'If basic races get attacked once they see Megane, doesn't that mean every single survivor of the Primordial tournament will be attacked, including those who were defeated without being killed?!?'

Despite blocking usage of all known communication channels to prevent others from sharing the news about a Dark Ice Elf being inside the basic dimension, there were other means one could communicate.

Not every race relied on the system as much as the human race did, and even Shane had been able to tell Talia and Miriam about everything!

As such, Shane could only think that every race that had participated in the basic Primordial tournament would be investigated, and if required, annihilated.

'Will they really do that?' He asked himself, only to notice that a head-sized fist had appeared right in front of his face.

Fortunately, Cosmo had noticed that Shane was distracted, and had emerged behind his master when the fight had started.

Utilizing the [Space Jump] ability, Shane and Cosmo appeared on the other side of the arena before Cosmo disappeared once again.

After the near miss, Shane finally regained his senses as he stared at his opponent more intently.

He had already investigated every opponent earlier and knew that the Tortaur was a being with the highest defensive capabilities.

This had allowed him to stay unscathed for the entire time, winning the previous battles by ducking and dodging the attacks without the need to have an offensive stance.

Wearing out his opponents were more than enough to win before he finished off the tired enemies.

Unfortunately, an unparalleled defense was only good as long as the attack was not invincible, and enough to pierce through the defense!

Shane was the worst opponent the Tortaur could have encountered, because he possessed the Invincible Scimitar.

His mind was still not fully focused on the fight, but by exerting the [Slaughterer's Path] technique while releasing the bloodlust-killing-intent, his mind was suddenly freed of all thoughts.

At the same time, Shane utilized the [Light steps] movement technique, the [Mana membrane(lesser)] skill, and the [Berserk Hunter's] title's skill [Berserk] that increased his strength and mana circulation for 10 seconds.

With all of those enhancements activated, Shane's determination to win increased further, unleashing more of his new passive skill [Warrior's Heart].

Because of that, the amount of mana he could circulate through his body had increased, only to be directly inserted into the Invincible Scimitar that was enveloped in a milky hue.

The milky hue was slowly turning denser, the more mana Shane inserted into it, before it was fully enveloped in a white glow.

At that moment, Shane knew that the weapon he gripped firmly was strong enough to destroy everything as long as he hit the desired target.

The Tortaur had already appeared in front of him, trying to make use of Shane's short distraction.

He hoped that his sudden appearance would throw Shane off-guard and prevent him from reaching his peak state.

However, that was not even what Shane wanted to accomplish.

Overdriving the [Light steps] movement technique, his speed reached the peak, as he pushed his feet from the ground catapulting himself towards the gloating Tortaur.

It was too confident about its defenses that could even deflect the attacks of the strongest beings that participated in the Primordial tournament, and the Tortaur continued to advance while building up its defensive skills.

There were numerous passive skills, active skills, racial skills and occupational skills it activated at once, only to punch Shane, who had suddenly emerged in front of it.

Targeting the Invincible Scimitar's razor-sharp blade, the Tortaur was confident to deflect the attack.

However, just as the Scimitar and the Tortaur's fist were about to collide, Shane smiled lightly.

A tremendous amount of mana suddenly surged in him that was transferred from his soul bound world.

After he inserted it into the Invincible Scimitar, the milky white enshroudment began to vibrate as it merged with the Invincible Scimitar that seemed to hum in delight.

A shrill noise resounded through the entire arena only to quiet down when the Tortaur's fist came in contact with the Scimitar's blade.

At that moment, the Tortaur's confident smile stiffened as he sensed something horrifying.

Fear enshrouded him and he could sense death emerge right in front of him.

Before he could process what had happened, his fist's skin and bones were cleaved in two halves with a huge fountain of blood that emerged a second later.

However, that was not everything because Shane was far from done!

Stepping forward while the Invincible Scimitar had been brandished, he cut the blade through the Tortaur's shoulder blade and sliced off its entire arm within a moment.

Just as the Tortaur wanted to jump backward while activating his life-saving skills to prevent bleeding out, he noticed that the Scimitar's blade was not directed at the ground as it should be, but that it was turned towards him!

After Shane had brandished the Invincible Scimitar, there was no need to waste any time as well as the momentum he had built up.

As such, he used a movement sequence he had learned a long time ago, to move the Scimitar smoothly, while turning it around.

Immediately afterward, Shane initiated the second attack that hit the Tortaur off-guard. The majority of his skills were interrupted by the distraction caused by the fact that the Tortaur's entire arm had been sliced off.

The Invincible Scimitar had only been drained of some mana that had been used to enhance it, and to finish off the Tortaur without leaving behind the smallest possibility for him to retaliate, Shane utilised everything at the second attack!

There was a reason his Scimitar was called Invincible, and it was not just a flowery title!

Slashing through the Tortaur, the luster in its eyes dimmed at a rapid pace, and Shane could only ignore it as he sensed Megane's cold gaze lingering on him.

Ignoring it by all means, Shane finished the fight properly, only to sigh inwardly while looking at the Tortour's corpse.

'Maybe your race won't be attacked and annihilated with your death, but what does it matter to you? You're dead and won't care… but participating in the Primordial tournament was bound to be deadly either way…'
