Chapter 427: One-strike

Even though he didn't want to use any skills or abilities that would disappear once the system were to stop working, Shane couldn't help but think that there was no other way out of the current predicament.

The situation was just too dangerous for him to neglect abilities like his 'Berserk Hunter' title's [Berserk] skill in addition to the Mask of the Curse Susurro's ability [Artemis' dome] that could protect him from all kinds of dangers as long as he supplied it with enough mana.

Shane was not sure whether or not the skills related to Artemis' blessing would disappear with the system, but he could assume so.

He had yet to figure out how he could sense anything about the blessing within him even with the system's guidance, let alone without, after all.

As such, he decided to not use anything involving Artemis' blessing except the passive abilities that were activated upon meeting certain requirements.

However, this had now changed, and Shane transferred even more mana into his mana pool to empower the ability [Artemis' dome], preparing it for the next encounter with the beast.

At the same time, the energy stored within the Invincible Scimitar or to be precise in the [Endless accumulation] ability was utilized by the [Infinite Enhancement] ability of the weapon he had.

Owing to this, the Invincible Scimitar began to glow in a faint golden hue as the aura around it began to suppress the surroundings.

Throughout the last few months, enormous amounts of mana had been accumulated within the Invincible Scimitar.

Thus, Shane didn't even have to use the entire mana that had been stored with the [Endless accumulation] ability in order to reach the strength required to pierce through the hide of beasts that possessed liquefied mana!

Against the three headed blazing lion this was more than enough, and Shane's eyes gleamed brightly as his passive ability [Warrior's Heart] accelerated his mana circulation and blood flow, in correspondence to his firm determination to kill his opponent.

He was becoming more eager and excited to encounter the blazing lion that approached him with slow and leisured steps as if its body language was saying, "I see you and I am not afraid of you," its gait filled with pride and arrogance.

Shane could only smile at this sight because he knew that its confidence was based on its terrific strength which he would have loved to avoid but now had no other choice but to face it.

But, that would have been the case had he not encountered someone even more terrific while being several times weaker than he was now!

It might seem dangerous right now, but the final round of the Primordial tournament had been even worse, but he had managed to survive it.

Shane had even forced Megane to use something she had tried to hide during the entire tournament.

As such, Shane released a ginormous amount of mana from the soul world, filling his mana pool several times, only to circulate a large margin through his body, splitting the rest into empowering [Artemis' dome] and enveloping himself with it.

The released mana merged with the bloodlust-killing-intent, whose aura was slowly seeping into the surrounding, permeating the air with an eerie sensation.

This sensation caused even the prideful and self-centered three headed blazing lion to halt in its tracks.

Observing the situation that unfolded in front of it, the lion decided to end the fight quickly before it truly began, preventing Shane from making the necessary preparations to possibly defeat it!

Even though this behavior was something out of the ordinary for the blazing lion, it sensed the danger coming from Shane.

Changing its stance within a moment, the lion was ready to pounce at Shane as another huge stream of mana was released by the young human, whose entire demeanor changed in the blink of an eye.

Shane wanted to end the fight in a single strike, and he didn't care about the restriction he had put on himself.

The system was still there for him, and he had yet to learn more about his affinities and the abilities of his unsealed bloodline.

As such, Shane couldn't care less about his earlier words as he activated all three daily usages of the [Berserk] skill at once, overlapping them, transforming his persona to that of a bloodthirsty monster.

A faint crimson hue enveloped him, as a blood red color manifested around the outlines of his pupils.

Shane didn't notice this, and he could only face the brunt force of having activated the Berserk skill three times in a row.

This resulted in an enhancement of more than 30% to his strength, mana circulation, and mana outburst for the next 10 seconds.

Without wasting this change, Shane released a huge amount of mana the moment he activated the berserk ability, circulating it through his body, allowing his physical strength to reach the pinnacle of his capabilities.

Yet, due to the multitude of amplification, Shane's body couldn't handle everything well, and it was only fortunate that his physique had been refined during the bloodline awakening.

Otherwise, he would have to face severe injuries and the possibility of permanent damage once the battle were to end.

However, Shane couldn't care about that right now.

Instead, he wanted to focus on the three headed blazing lion that had started to move, pouncing at him with a terrific pace.

That was, at least, what others perceived.

To Shane, the lion's speed felt slower than expected and Shane simply activated the [Space Jump] ability once again.

Manifesting several spatial portals all around the three headed blazing lion, he placed one of it strategically, right in front of himself.

Pushing his feet from the ground, Shane accelerated, allowing him to reach the same speed as the blazing lion had before he entered the spatial portal.

At that moment, he slashed out with the glowing Invincible Scimitar that vibrated lightly as it cut through the air, and flames before reaching the blazing lion the moment he emerged from the portal.

The blazing lion had already expected a similar attack as it was the same as before, and was confident of thwarting Shane's advance when it realised that something was off.

A dense milky hue enveloped Shane, enlarging at a rapid pace, extinguishing its flames as if they had been conjured by a youngling.

Under normal circumstances, this would have enraged the blazing lion, but the vibrating Invincible Scimitar was already too close for it to bother about something so negligible.

In the desperate efforts to evade the attack, the blazing lion didn't even notice that Shane had disappeared.

A spatial portal now stood where Shane had been and he had instead emerged a meter above it.

He was still slashing out with the Invincible Scimitar, but instead of cutting off one head, he aimed for the abdomen as the blade sliced through it.

Blood splattered out of the body that was cut in half while the intestines fell out, only for Shane to disappear once again.

He reappeared more than ten meters away from the injured lion in order to observe the situation that unfolded right in front of him.

There were many beasts with superior healing capabilities, preventing them from dying as long as their brain, or mana core was intact, which was an impressive feat, almost everyone would love to obtain.

However, exactly because of this thought, Shane was ready to initiate another attack if necessary, only to realise that the unbearable heat that burned through the several layers of protection Shane had, lessened.

However, even three seconds later, he hadn't received a notification from the system which caused him to use the [Space Jump] ability once again, using a large amount of mana to perfectly control the spatial affinity.

Through this he manifested a spatial portal, only to appear in front of the dying three headed blazing lion that roared out in pain as Shane beheaded it by cutting off all three heads!

He didn't show any mercy because that was not something Shane was able to demonstrate right now, let alone in the future, where his thorny path would force him to do things he never expected to do.

[Mission [Kill the King] has been successfully accomplished! Congratulations to the host!
