The spring hunting of the royal family of Dali was always be held at the third day of the third lunar month. Every time Mu Nanzhi returned from the hunting ground, she would immediately brought him some mutton, venison and chicken. Before the Spring Festival, she even promised that she would let him taste boar meat. It was late night now, but the little girl hadn’t appeared. Lu Zhishan was in a good mood. It made him want to laugh thinking about Mu Nanzhi coming to tell him that she tried hard but found no wild boar in the forest. She was such a silly girl that she had been there for so many times but she didn’t know there were no boars in the forest. Lu Zhishan couldn’t wait to tease her. That was the reason why he had dinner so late and asked cooks to prepare her favorite snacks in advance. However, Mu Nanzhi didn’t appeare at all.

What was wrong?

Was the small girl still worried about what happened in the Xihuai Mansion?

Though he was truly mad at that moment, he didn’t blame her at all. Instead, he picked some twigs of blossoms himself to present her. He heard that the little girl was pretty happy when she received them.

What was the problem then?

Could there be any accidents in the hunting ground? Did the little girl get injured?

...

Lu Zhishan finished two cups of tea and he still failed to calm himself down. He made up his mind that he would ask Song Fu to visit her early the next morning.

The next day.

Before Song Fu went to Princess Heshuo’s Mansion to have a look, Du Heng had made everything clear. Actually, as soon as Mu Nanzhi got back home yesterday, the fourth prince Lu Zhiyue told his people to send two boar legs to her. And Princess Mu gave her a gazelle and two pheasants as rewards.

Lu Zhishan was having breakfast when Du Heng reported what happened. He didn’t sleep well all night, the dark circles under his eyes were pretty conspicuous. Hearing that Princess Mu gave gifts to the fourth prince in return, Lu Zhishan stopped his hand which was holding chopsticks in the air for a few seconds, and then he calmly picked a piece of lettuce and ate it.

Afterwards, he slightly said, “When did you pick up the same bad habit as Xie Lun and have interest in getting the secret of others?”

Du Heng smiled and answered, “Princess Mu’s mansion is only two blocks away from here. Princess Mu gets along well with you. So I usually pay more attention to her, my highness.”

Lu Zhishan put down his bowl and chopsticks, gently wiped the corners of his mouth and then uttered slowly, “Pay your attention to something else. Don’t behave like a gossip.”

Du Heng got stunned and then said to Lu Zhishan respectfully, “Okay, I’ll keep your words in my mind, your highness.”

Meanwhile, Song Fu came in with two boxes of snacks in his hands asking, “Marquess, do you need me to take a message to Princess Mu?”

“You don’t need to go there anymore.” Lu Zhishan threw the handkerchief on the table, turned around and walked to the study.

Holding the boxes in his hands, Song Fu stood beside the door, confused. It was until Lu Zhishan had gone away that he dared to ask Du Heng in a low voice, “What’s wrong with the marquess?”

Du Heng was just scolded because of his words about Princess Heshuo and he was puzzled too. He could do nothing but shake his head to Song Fu.

...

Princess Heshuo’s Mansion.

Mu Nanzhi didn’t sleep well too. Actually, as she came back from hunting ground, she quickly told her servants to dispose of the Mongolian gazelles, pheasants and hares. She kept watching it and selected a gazelle’s hind leg, several fat pheasants and hares to send to Lu Zhishan. Though she got no boar meat, she still had a good reason to see him.
