The messy footsteps awakened the youth.

The youth hurriedly opened his eyes and vigilantly looked towards the approaching sound.

Slowly the memory of last night came and the teenager’s mood became tenser.

He had an instinct that the people who were approaching him were somehow a threat to his existence.

“Have you seen the vampire that had fled into the forest yesterday?” An old voice with a somber tone asked.

The voice was coming from under the tree.

The teenager lowered his head and tried to look through the gap of the branches. There were four men wearing black-robes standing under the tree.

Apart from them, a timid man was following them. This man was the runaway grave-keeper.

“This is the only place to hide..”

The grave keeper’s anxious voice rang, he was getting more anxious while looking at the priest’s indifferent face.

“Don’t you believe it? You have seen the dog’s dead body and the tooth marks on my companion’s throat! Was it done by any normal human?”

The priest looked around the forest and even looked at dense foliage above his head, where the teenager was hiding.

But because of the dense foliage, the young priest wasn’t able to see him.

“I have checked this forest several times. There is no sign of a vampire here. Even if we believe you, it’s already five o’clock, maybe the vampire has run away. We should contact the church in London.”

The teenager’s eyesight was very good, somehow he was even able to see the look of contempt on the priest’s face.

“Then..”

The grave keeper tried to say something. Where would the vampire have stayed for an entire night, he also didn’t know.

“Let’s go back.”

The old-man leading the young priest told everyone.

“No, we can’t leave. What if the vampire came back? He had already drunk my companion’s blood.”

The grave keeper shouted in panic.

The priest sneered at the grave-keeper and said, “You have pushed your companion for your survival. Coward.”

The grave keeper felt ashamed and he could no longer oppose their decision to go back.

The teenager was keenly listening to the sound of those men while lying down the branch of the tree. When the sound of their footsteps got further and further away, then only his tight nerves got relaxed.

After pulling the fingers out of the barks of the tree, the boy froze. He tried to twist his wrist a few times and saw miraculously his wounds were healed.

He raised his hands and touched his face, it was healed without any previous sign of an injury.

He had no memory of last night after losing his consciousness, he didn’t know how he climbed on this tree.

He only knew, maybe he got injured last night by looking at his blood-stained cuffs.

The teenager carefully sat up on the tree and leaned on the tree trunk. As he leaned, somehow a cold object touched his chest.

His body got stiffened by the cold touch, and he tried to unbutton the cloth to reach that cold object. The cold object was the silver chain with a simple yet delicate design.

The teenager’s blue eyes were curiously studying the chain and the blue gemstone attached to it. The gemstone was exquisite with a serpentine shape.

There was a delicately carved three-letter word ‘Asa’ written on the pendant.

“Asa”

There was a hoarseness in the youth’s voice as if he hadn’t spoken in years.

“A Gift from God..”

The teenager murmured. He didn’t know, why did he think of those words?

‘Asa?’

Was this his name? But why was it sounding so strange in his ears?

After staring at the pendant for a while, the teenager stuffed the pendant in his collar and fastened the button.

He didn’t care if that was his name or not. After all, he didn’t remember anything.

Suppressing all his doubts, Asa started to think about where to go after leaving this forest.

Going to the city? But did he have a home there?

His memory was blank. He had no memory related to the word ‘home’.

But the teenager’s emotion was not very much affected by it.

Those men in black robes just said, London? Was it a nearby place?

Would there be a place for him in the city…

Asa’s head suddenly lifted when he heard the sound of the rustling of the dead leaves in the distance.

While being vigilant, Asa lied on the branch and lowered his breath. The dense foliage hindered Asa’s vision. He wasn’t able to infer the number or the position of the people by the sound of the footsteps.

The footsteps stopped under the tree on which Asa was hiding.

Asa didn’t try to probe the person, he was quietly lying on the branch while lowering the sound of his breathing.

Asa tries to stretch his head and peek at the face of the visitor. But, the position where the person was standing was a little tricky. The person’s face was covered with dense leaves.

Who was the visitor? Was he from the earlier group?

Asa frowned his eyebrows while looking at the black-robed man.

Was the man able to see him?

With a dull pupil, Asa was staring at the canopy of leaves with caution and hesitation.

Even though Asa felt he could deal with this man with his strength, he remained vigilant and cautious.

Without knowing why Asa was still unwilling to hurt someone who was not a threat to him.

The two figures, one on the tree and the other under the tree remained deadlocked for a while.

No one took the initiative to talk or speak to the other.

Slowly the sun rose from the horizon and the morning light came out.

The first ray of sunlight infiltrated through the dense leaves and fell on Asa’s small face.

The sunlight was very faint but still, Asa responded horrifyingly to it. He hurriedly moved backward to escape from the sunlight.

This set of actions caused the branches to shake and create some sound.

“The Young Master of blood race, are you afraid of sunlight.”

The man’s voice from under the tree came without any hurry in it.

The youth’s eyes became dark, the man knew who he was and where he was hiding!

What was this blood race? Is this the race that depends on blood to live?

But those priests and that gatekeeper called him a vampire.

What was he? Vampire or someone from the blood race?

Did this person pose any kind of threat to him?

But this person’s voice didn’t have any threatening tone in it.

Without knowing why Asa didn’t want to fight this person.

Slowly more of the sunlight was falling on him, and the leaves weren’t able to block it.

Those sun rays were burning him.

Asa didn’t want to feel this burning pain. But, unknowingly his heart was desiring for sunlight.

It was like the more you couldn’t get a thing, the more you want to get it.

The man’s voice again sounded, “Are you still willing to hide? The sunlight was going to get stronger after a while.”

The man’s voice was getting closer to him.

Asa saw a pair of shiny black leather shoes come into his field of vision.

A man dressed in black suit pants with straight long legs was looking at him.

After looking at the man, Asa didn’t think he could win a fight over this man.

Asa quietly bit his lips, he became somewhat stupid after measuring his opponent

This man knew about his strength and weakness. He must be part of that group of priests and gatekeeper, who chased after him earlier.

There was no one else who knew him or who he was.

“You don’t have to conceal. I am coming down.” Because of not speaking for much time, Asa’s voice was thick and hoarse.

Without thinking much, Asa carefully stood up and jumped down from the branch.

As a result, he fell straight on the ground. The man with blue eyes coldly looked at him.

Asa could see the man who was wearing a black suit and pants. The man was very tall and had black hair which was short in length.

The man had a sharp jaw-line with deep handsome features on his face.

He was truly not an opponent of this man, but this man didn’t look like someone from the priests’ team.

After a moment, there was only one idea for survival in his head.

That was to run, run very fast.

But, before running he needed to create some distraction first, so he could run safely afterward.

After hesitating a moment, Asa shifted his foot and with fierce energy cut towards the man. As if he was going to fight till death to the man.

The man wearing the suit pants remained indifferent to the sharp attack of Asa’s. He even smiled mildly at him.

When Asa’s ankle was about to reach his nose, the man slowly raised his hand and grabbed Asa’s foot accurately before it could harm him.

He sharply pulled Asa’s feet causing Asa to fall.

The man immediately moved forward to catch Asa, before he could fall to the ground.

Asa fell into the arms of the man.

Asa hurriedly tried to remove himself from the man’s forceful embrace, but the man’s arms were like a strong iron grip.

The man was holding very tightly on him.

Asa was scared, this opponent of his was very powerful.

His heart tightened, the man was far more powerful than that of what Asa had earlier expected.

He wanted to immediately run away.

Because of the fear, there was a tingling sensation in his mouth and his fangs came out.

Unconsciously, Asa bit the neck of the man with his sharp teeth.

He was trying to make the man loosen his arms because of pain. He bit hard.

Asa had bit the grave-keeper nine hours ago, and now he had again taken a bite on something.

After tasting the man’s blood, Asa couldn’t stop himself.

The blood he had tasted earlier was not good.

The blood of that grave-keeper was very bitter and dry.

Because he was very hungry last night, he didn’t focus much on the taste.

But, this time the blood he was drinking was very sweet and mellow. It had a sweet smell of a fine-aged wine, a wine that had been buried for hundreds of years.

This blood was enough to make him drunk.

After drinking the blood, the pale face of Asa became rosy and the golden eyes glowed up.

Asa suddenly stopped drinking.

He suddenly remembered the pain that he had felt after drinking the blood last night.

His body instinctively wanted to resist the blood.

With a strong will, Asa tried to hold back his blood lust.

He removed his teeth from the man’s neck and looked at him with vigilance.

The hole in the man’s neck immediately closed under the naked eyes after Asa removed his teeth.

 This self-healing stunned Asa.

He immediately wanted to leave and not look back at this powerful person of unknown origin.

He bent and lifted his feet to run, but was immediately intercepted by his opponent.

Asa brutally attacked the man and without giving the man any chance, he pushed hard on the opponent’s chest.

After pushing him, he hurriedly jumped out of the man’s embrace.

As a result, he was able to free himself.

As soon as Asa got free, he turned and ran like a mad dog without looking back.

In only a few minutes, Asa was able to jump the branches and escape.

The man’s corner of the mouth was hooked with a slight smile.

He didn’t go to catch the teenager. He lifted his left hand and slowly opened the cuff.

After glancing at his watch, the man said, “Don’t drag down. We have to leave this place before the sun comes up.”

He softly added, “Asa.”
