Chapter 11 – A maid without a master only has 30% of her skills

——I’m so tired.

I crudely threw my body onto the soft bed. The hellish day has finally reached its end.

Outside the window is bright moonlight and a night sky filled with twinkling stars, but I simply wasn't in the mood to appreciate the beautiful night scenery.

“I basically did nothing today……!”

A day I cannot bear to look back on. To say that it’s meaningful is not wrong. To say it’s meaningless is also not wrong.

The first battle of the Venetian Merchants and the Lone Star Merchants appears to have sounded the alarm for the big forces among the players. But how I wished it was just the stage of a monodrama. If they don’t take the initiative, the rest of the players would swarm around, completely without organization and discipline. In order to settle the armed rebellion, Count Montefeltro had dispatched troops– or else my house would have been trampled flat.

It’s said that it’s my house……but actually, it’s only because the only one staying here is me.

The manor I am staying in nominally belongs to my former master. At the martial arts competition assembly jointly held by the human kingdom, he seized the top spot. The King initially wanted to confer the title of Baron to him, but because the former master no longer logged into the game, it was left at that.

Conferring the title of nobility is not as stringent as in the Middle Ages and including the setting of the title, there will be a certain degree of change in magic. The ranks of nobility for the three great human kingdoms are the same and are divided into three ranks: Baron, Earl, and Duke. Although the game officials stated that players have the chance to play the role of a King, regretfully, there has yet to be a player that seats as a Duke.

The place I am in, Rothschild, is merely a small village. It doesn’t even have a Baron. The Earl won’t be actively dispatching troops to suppress the players every day.

“Should I behave more enthusiastically?”

But when I receive gifts, I really can’t bring myself to be interested. Do I have to meet so many players every day in the future?

What makes me have the most mixed feelings about is that the players that came today are far from being at the largest scale. The Lemuria continent’s transportation mode is not as convenient as in other games. It’s true that there are transport crystals within major cities, but it’s expensive to use. By the way, the construction principle behind the transport crystals is to make use of the spinel crystal item that players obtain through making in-app purchases. There are players that jokingly say that if we make many in-app purchases, we need not do evil when hastening on our journey.

To compensate, when players are riding horses, game officials designed many different kinds of events that can only be triggered when journeying. When players are journeying on horseback, on the road, they may meet an orphan and a widow in dire straits, a Hermit Master, travelling merchants that were always selling rare gadgets, knights travelling the continent, tomb raiders doing illegal business, etc. Of course, if the player’s luck is bad enough and they like to take mountain trails, the probability of meeting mountain bandits by accident is not ruled out.

Because of these designs, although riding a horse is a waste of time, it is not completely rejected by players.

This implies that there is still a large wave of players currently rushing over here on horseback.

Today I was held up at the gate the whole day, unable to even enjoy lunch and dinner on time. My Gardening skill is at max level so I can mend the fence and lawn that were destroyed by the fighting by myself. But compared to the fatigue on my body, my spirit is especially ruined.

Following this development, I’ve not been captured by a player for the whole day, and Rothschild will have no peace.

I have things I need to do: Figure out what actually happened in the real world, and why I would arrive in the game world.

“This won’t stump me. I won’t feeble-mindedly stay at home.”

As long as I run fast enough, the speed at which the players send gifts won’t be able to catch up to me. Then, hasn’t the problem been easily solved? I really am a little genius.

“Skills……skills……found it~”

Magic is always a classic element in the fantasy world. Lemuria, too, cannot escape this custom. As for what made Lemuria stand out from the masses, is probably the lack of the ability to become absolutely unparalleled by relying on magic.

Let’s put it this way, don’t look down on the regular enemies in Lemuria. Even if they’re ordinary people who don't even know a sliver of magic, with enough numbers, they can totally flatline a player who is proficient in magic by ganging up and beating them. In the game, it is very difficult to achieve the incomparable feat of mowing down a magnificent army with thousands of men and horses. A well-trained army isn’t just for show.

The effects of magic are still far from reaching balance breaking standards. Single-handedly wiping out a nation and what not, perhaps only a Devil King that has been sealed long ago could do it.

I opened the skill search bar, and found the perfect solution to break out of this predicament.

【Teleportation】

Magic that shifts you from one designated place to another. The real intention of it is that when the host comes across danger, they can use it to break away from the battlefield. It can teleport the host with multiple people, and the mana consumption is directly proportional to the distance teleported and the number of people being carried (The host is not factored into the number of people). In addition, the person cannot teleport to an area they haven’t explored yet.

Rothsworth is a small village, which means that the distance to teleport to outside the village is not considered far at all.

Under my master-less circumstances, a part of my skills can only display 30% of its effects with the highest being at 50%. My fighting strength has also declined to some extent. In fact, if you count the buff from being contract bound by a master on top, the disparity would be even greater.

But it should be enough. I won’t run into dangerous areas without reason, and I can deal with the general crisis.

The night curfew system is a big help to me. The so-called night curfew isn’t really completely forbidding people from going out. In the game, there exists a Stealing skill. Reportedly, players used to like to use this kind of skill to play. No matter how grave the consequences of being caught were, the number of cat burglar kings was still too many to count. Thus, they might as well restrict night activities. Running into a guy acting suspiciously also gives grounds for arrest. As a result, players usually won’t take a stroll through the village at night.

What’s most subtle is —— “if you’re not caught, it’s not considered a crime”. Unexpectedly, this is a statement from game officials.

The Earl’s troops have not yet withdrawn. Today’s defences are tight so there shouldn’t be cat burglars. But after a few days it won’t be for certain.

Harbouring the worries for the future in my mind, I got up and started preparing the hot water I was going to bathe in.

Showering daily is not a habit I cultivated only after turning into a girl. How can I be qualified to wait upon my mistress left and right if my whole body stank?

My mistress……

Speaking of which, I live alone in such a big house. It’s somewhat lonely.
