Chapter 170: And History Begins to Shift Dramatically

When I returned to the mansion, dinner was already over, and Mei and the others were in the bath. Peyris asked if she should make a late-night snack, but I politely refused since I was already full from eating curry.

As I listened to Gon and Ferris recounting what had happened that day, it seemed to be my turn to take a bath. Today, I could finally relax alone and stretch my limbs while soaking in the bathtub. At times like these, a tune naturally escapes my lips.

And when I entered the bedroom, I found Rico, who had just put Eril to sleep. Eril was sleeping soundly in the crib next to the bed, sprawled out comfortably. Even her sleeping form was quite grand.

Now, as I prepared to go to bed, I noticed that Rico didn’t get into bed.

“Rico, what’s wrong?”

“…Today, I received permission from Roni.”

“Permission?”

Rico smiled softly and silently took off her pajamas, revealing her naked figure.

“It seems I can go back to my usual life now.”

“You’re beautiful, Rico…”

“But… my stomach is still showing, isn’t it? It’s embarrassing.”

Saying that, she got into bed. And I embraced Rico with all my heart.

Rico’s breasts had become significantly fuller compared to before she gave birth. And her postpartum figure seemed to have returned to its original state. Her proud, smooth skin showed no signs of decline and appeared even more radiant after giving birth. While thinking about these things, I held Rico tightly, and something touched my face.

“I… I’m sorry.”

“Hmm? What is it?”

“I’ve been feeding Eril enough, but still…”

“Oh, it’s fine. It’s a sign of good health. I’m relieved.”

I gazed intently at Rico’s face.

“Rico… I have a favor to ask.”

“What is it?”

“Could you have another child for me?”

“Of course. Next time, a boy… So please continue to love me with all your heart.”

“I love you, Rico…”

I embraced Rico tightly once again.

At the same time, in the palace of the imperial capital of the Lamaron Empire, the Empress Dowager, Laysis, spent a sleepless night. Upon receiving news of the fall of Galbi in the early afternoon, she immediately ordered General Carius to attack and recapture it. Yet, there had been no report of Carius heading towards Galbi at this moment. Incorporating the defense forces of the imperial capital was permitted, but the entire army couldn’t be dispatched, and a minimum force had to be retained. She had heard that the formation was being arranged, but she wished for them to set out soon. If they attacked now, it would be an effective surprise attack. Perhaps Galbi could be retaken sooner than expected… As she pondered over such matters, the Empress Dowager gradually fell into a light doze.

How long did she sleep? She woke up abruptly, realizing it was late at night. Feeling a sense of unease, the Empress Dowager called for one of her chambermaids. However, there was no response. She paced around the spacious room, calling out the names of the maids. At that moment, the door slowly opened.

“What were you doing! Suhaana? Raian? Quickly…”

The Empress Dowager was speechless. There stood several knights, clad in armor and armed, who should never have been allowed to enter this room.

“Who are you people! By whose permission did you enter this room! You insolent fools!”

The Empress Dowager spoke in a resolute voice. In response, one of the knights removed his helmet and slowly approached. As his figure became visible in the dim light, the Empress Dowager’s eyes widened.

“Ca… Carius…”

The man was General Carius of the Lamaron Empire’s army. He calmly stood before the Empress Dowager and spoke with a composed voice.

“Great Demon King… I will vanquish you.”

“What are you saying! Have you gone mad, General! Someone! Someone! This is treason! Treason! General Carius has rebelled! Someone! Someone!”

The Empress Dowager shouted in despair as she paced around the room. While witnessing her state, General Carius slowly drew his sword.

“Stop this foolishness! Do you not recognize who I am? I am the Empress Dowager, Lamaron Crow Laysis! Do you understand what you’re doing? Cease this! Cease it! Stay away! Don’t come near! Your Majesty! Your Maje–!”

A scream of agony echoed. There, the scene unfolded with a sword deeply pierced into the Empress Dowager’s back. In slow motion, her body collapsed onto the ground. Carius exhaled slowly.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister, Madlin, was confined to his chambers in the palace by the soldiers. No matter what questions he asked, there was no response. At present, he could only wander around the room restlessly. Then, the door opened, and a soldier entered.

“Prime Minister, General Carius requests your presence. Please accompany me.”

Madlin nodded silently and followed the soldier.

They walked through the wide corridors of the grand palace. Although it was the familiar hallway he often traversed, today it felt distant for some reason. They were led to a room where the Emperor’s throne was located. Upon entering, the room was filled with the sound of a man’s wailing.

“Mother! Oh, Mother! Empress Dowager! Open your eyes, please! Call me Freins, call me Freins! Wake up! Mother!”

Shamelessly, the Emperor clung to the severed head of an old woman placed upon a luxurious desk, screaming. He had already reached the age of maturity, yet his behavior resembled that of a young boy.

And standing just behind that severed head was General Carius. Madlin swiftly approached the general.

“General! What is the meaning of this…?”

“I have slain the Great Demon King.”

“What did you say?”

Upon hearing those words, the Emperor, without bothering to wipe away his flowing tears, hurled words at General Carius.

“Carius! How dare you… my mother! I will never forgive you! I shall…!”

“Empress Dowager!!”

A thunderous voice drowned out the Emperor’s words, emanating from Carius. His commanding presence left the Emperor speechless.

“Your Majesty, the Empress Dowager has already passed away.”

“What? Mother… already…?”

“That’s correct, Your Majesty. This is the Great Demon King impersonating the Empress Dowager. Please observe. The blood on the cloth that covered the head has turned pitch black. It was red when I brought it here…”

“You… What are you…?”

“Take him away.”

Carius’s voice showed no trace of emotion. Upon receiving his command, the soldiers took hold of the weeping Emperor’s arms and led him out of the room.

“General, what do you intend to do with the Emperor?”

“The Emperor has been strongly influenced by the Great Demon King disguised as the Empress Dowager. He will rest for a while. Therefore, I would like the Prime Minister to handle the subsequent affairs. As for the Imperial Army, I will continue to oversee it. Let us rebuild this country together.”

Carius stared at Madlin’s face intently. Then, he nodded slowly.

“Understood.”

“I implore you.”

After this brief exchange, Carius left the room with the soldiers, carrying the Empress Dowager’s severed head. Left alone, Madlin gazed in bewilderment at the two unoccupied thrones.

Carius swiftly walked through the corridors of the palace. He reached the balcony at the end. At that moment, two soldiers who were waiting there opened the doors. The square below was filled with Lamaron army soldiers. Carius lifted the Empress Dowager’s severed head and called out to the soldiers with a loud voice.

“Just now, Lamaron Empire’s Supreme Commander, Carius Sheema! I have slain the Great Demon King!”

After a momentary pause, a loud cheer erupted from the soldiers. The history of the Lamaron Empire had taken a significant turn.
