Chapter 209: Rising Tide and Falling Tide

Leave a Comment / Reincarnation into a barrier master / By IX

“Oops. Did I overdo it a bit?”

I unintentionally let out a voice from above. I might have misjudged the amount of magic I poured into it.

I’m currently at the border between Agarta and Laramon. I’m circling in the sky while riding on Ilymo. The Ilbeji River below has significantly risen in water level, turning into a turbulent stream.

After seeing Knogen off as he teleported to Galby, I came to this border area while riding on Illymo. A fantastical scene enveloped in a silver world stretches out before me. Perhaps due to the mountainous terrain, it has been snowing continuously, and there is quite a substantial amount of snow accumulation. While enjoying this sight, I aim further upstream of the Ilbeji River. Flying with Illymo’s wings, I soon see tall snow-covered mountains.

“What… is that?”

After circling in the sky with Illymo for a while, I choose a location and ask Illymo to land.

“Oh, that’s amazing…”

To my surprise, there’s a massive ice waterfall. It must be dozens of meters both vertically and horizontally. There’s a colossal wall of ice right there. I’m momentarily captivated by its power and fantastical sight.

“I’ve heard of waterfalls freezing, but… I didn’t expect it to be this magnificent.”

“It’s beautiful…”

Illymo is also gazing at the scene in awe. I stroke Illymo’s body gently.

“It’s a bit of a waste, but shall we do it? Well, considering this cold, the waterfall will freeze again. “

It will freeze eventually, but it’s easy to imagine that it will never freeze in this form again, so I take a moment to burn this scene into my memory.

“All right, Illymo, please.”

Once again, I mount Illymo, soar into the sky, and reach the top of the waterfall. There’s a small lake surrounded by snow-covered mountains.

I release a small Fireball towards the snowy mountain in front of me and simultaneously shoot a small Scorching Orb towards the lake and ice waterfall. In an instant, the ice wall collapses, and immediately after, a large amount of snow from the snowy mountain in front of me slides down towards the lake. What’s more, despite being deeply embedded in the snow, the flames from the Scorching Orb don’t diminish, creating a fantastical scene as the snow slides down while engulfed in flames.

The moment the snow, covered in flames, slides into the lake, it instantly melts, and a massive amount of water rushes down from the waterfall. It looks as if someone overturned a giant bucket filled with water. Moreover, the melted snow from the Scorching Orb also melts part of the surrounding mountain snow, causing a sudden rise in the lake’s water level.

“Wow! It’s a splendid sight, but… did I overdo it? The Ilbeji River will likely experience increased water levels for a while.”

From above, I can see a large amount of water flowing downstream. I ask Illymo to land on the top of the snowy mountain and then teleport to the border between Agarta and Laramon.

Here, it’s a complete contrast to before, with silence dominating the surroundings. The only sound is the snow falling gently. I felt like staying wrapped in this atmosphere for a while, but I snap out of it and ride Illymo into the sky again. From there, I can see a tremendous muddy current approaching from upstream.

“…It’s beyond my expectations. Well, there are no human settlements around that area, so there shouldn’t be any human casualties… but the forest spirits might be upset. I’ll have to inform Soleil later and check the situation.”

Muttering to myself, I watch as the muddy current approaches the border. And an unimaginable amount of water passes beneath me and Illymo.

“Wow. That’s an incredible amount of water. Well… with this water level, it should be fine.”

Saying so, I return to the Imperial Capital’s residence.

——–

At the exit of the forest leading to the border between Agarta and the Laramon Empire, two lodges have been erected. Surrounding them are numerous tents, signifying the camp of the people who have immigrated from the Crimeana Theocracy’s capital, Aphrodite. Inside one of the lodges, a relaxed tea time was taking place.

“…In total, it’s approximately thirty thousand,”

Sipping tea elegantly, Vielle spoke. She, along with six bishops and Kassel, indulged in pastries, creating a relaxed atmosphere. Without disrupting the mood, one of the bishops, Coffret, spoke with a smile.

“Yes, probably over ten thousand believers are coming up the Ilbeji River from Galby. Furthermore, through Hideita, nearly ten thousand believers will come via the Ilbeji River to Agarta. And through Niza, several thousand believers are also expected.”

“I see… So even when moving believers from the surrounding countries to Agarta, this is about the limit?”

“Agarta itself is located in a mountainous area… It’s not easy to move around with neighboring countries, after all.”

“Thinking that Agarta had Galby under its control was fortunate for us. Without that port, it would have been even more challenging for us, including the movement of believers.”

Following Coffret, a female bishop spoke. Hearing her words, Vielle nodded graciously.

“That’s right. It’s largely thanks to the blessings of Crimeana-sama that we were sent to Agarta. Of course, Kassel’s work in considering ways to make our travel easier and open paths played a significant role as well.”

Watching Kassel’s mouth curve upward slightly with a fond gaze, Vielle continued her words.

“Since we’re gathering thirty thousand believers, we’ll need a suitable place. So, where do you think is the best location for our paradise? Perhaps near Agarta’s capital…”

“Sister, and everyone, I have a proposal.”

With a confident expression, Kassel stood up.

“I think we should create our paradise right here, where we are currently staying. There’s a forest here, there’s water, and most importantly, it’s convenient for joining up with those who come up the Ilbeji River. Furthermore, if you take a boat, you can reach Galby in half a day from here. Also, Agarta’s supplies will also reach the Ilbeji River along this route. By holding this place, we might be able to control Agarta’s supplies as well. What do you think?”

The bishops exchanged glances, but there was no one opposing the idea. Seeing their reactions, Vielle spoke.

“Kassel’s proposal is very persuasive, I believe. What do you all think?”

All the bishops nodded in agreement. Seeing this, Vielle wore a beaming smile and made a declaration.

“Then, let’s rally all the strength of the Crimeana Theocracy here and build our paradise in this place. Kassel, thank you for your splendid idea.”

Under Vielle’s gaze, Kassel nodded with delight.

“Vielle-sama. The actual construction should start once materials are brought in from the ships anchored in Galby. Until then, I’d like to prepare to welcome the believers who will undoubtedly continue to arrive. What do you think?”

“That sounds wonderful, Coffret-san. Please go ahead with that plan.”

“I will do so.”

Coffret bowed respectfully and left the lodge.

“…I wish Agarta’s king would accept the baptism soon, but it seems he’s under the control of the false god pretending to be Crimeana-sama. However, once he sees the paradise we create, even the wise Agarta king will surely awaken. There’s no chance of Crimeana-sama bringing down divine punishment… It’s unthinkable.”

Vielle spoke with a smile. Then, still wearing that smile, she shifted her gaze to one of the bishops.

“Niedes-san, despite your hardships, please go to Niza to welcome the believers arriving from there. And the rest of you, let’s go to Agarta’s capital to spread the gracious teachings of Crimeana-sama.”

Everyone smiled and nodded in response. They didn’t know. They didn’t know that the flash flood set in motion by Linos would create unimaginable hellish scenes. And that this spectacle would become a traumatic memory for the people of Crimeana, especially for Vielle, causing her suffering for many years.

The Agarta land was adorned in a beautiful silver world, illuminated by the sun.
