Escape (6)

“Can the soul contract be signed many times?” she asked curiously.

Rothgarr sneered: “What do you take it for?”

“It can only be signed once?”

“Correct.”

“If the person who signed the contract is killed, will the demon himself die with her?” Anna asked again.

Rothgarr didn’t know where all these questions of Anna’s came from, but he still answered her: “No.”

Anna nodded. This meant that Balan would definitely go back on his word on the wedding day. But it didn’t matter even if he didn’t go back on his word. If you got tired of her, he could just  kill her. For a player like Balan, the soul contract was actually useless. There were so many types of women to play with, why should he stay loyal to one?

Seeing that Anna’s questioning had come to an end, Rothgarr continued to drag her along. Where they currently were, the sounds from the basement could be vaguely heard, and now he just wanted to hurry into the room and block the sound with the door.

Just as they walked through the door of Anna’s room, Rothgarr heard Anna ask again, “Then what is your curse of The Abyss?”

Rothgarr kicked the door open and said without looking back, “You don’t need to know.”

Rothgarr wanted to go back to his room, but since he was accustomed to going to Anna’s room, he didn’t make a move to leave. He dragged Anna in and threw her on the bed, then turned around and closed the door. This way, he wouldn’t need to hear the noises that sounded from the basement again.

He was standing beside the bed, looking coldly at Anna. He suddenly realized that during the chat with Anna just now, more than half of his anger had disappeared.

Anna was very nervous right now. She could feel that Rothgarr wasn’t so angry now compared to when he first saw them in the basement.

But she still couldn’t be sure what he would do, so although she seemed to be sitting on the edge of the bed casually, she was actually tense and ready to put up a fight at any time.

So what if she was overestimating herself? Some things could be tolerated, and some things could not be tolerated. Even if the worst outcome was still unavoidable, she still won if she could make the demon a little more angry.

After a few minutes, Rothgarr finally spoke: “You lied to me.”

“Yes.” Anna responded simply. She had been lying to him since the first time they met, so it wasn’t like he didn’t know it.

Rothgarr sneered: “Do you know the consequences?”

“I’d be even worse off if I didn’t lie to you.” Anna didn’t answer his question directly.

Rothgarr looked at Anna. He thought of how excited he was when she responded by wrapping her arms around his neck during the day.

Now of course he understood that it was all fake.

He asked, “Why?”

According to his previous habits, those who lied to him would be killed, and there was no need to ask why, but right now, he wanted to know the reason.

At this moment, Anna’s intention of “smashing the pot to pieces just because it is broken” had gradually withdrawn because Rothgarr didn’t take action immediately when they entered her room. Shockingly, he was only talking to her, so she had a chance to save herself.

But that didn’t stop her from finding Rothgarr’s question ridiculous.

Why else? He wanted to play with her body and mind like Balan, but she wasn’t willing, so she wanted to escape.

“I’m a human. Isn’t it normal for me to do whatever it takes to return to the Human Realm?” Anna replied with a smile. Of course this was also true.

Rothgarr sneered: “So in order to confuse me, you deliberately pretended to be obedient to me, to be flattered by me, in order to lower my vigilance?”

He remembered that he took Anna out to play around a few days ago. She was clearly smiling happily and was fascinated by the magnificent scenery.

What annoyed him the most was that hug during the day. He thought he was close to winning her heart.

“So what?” Anna stood up, and the distance between the two instantly narrowed. She looked up at him, the smile on her face gone, “Did you expect me to think that a demon would love me and cherish me?”

Rothgarr was taken aback: “…What did you say?”

The corners of Anna’s mouth twitched, but her eyes grew red: “What do you want me to do? You know that demons won’t fall in love with humans, but want me to fall for your wooing, and become a pitiful creature who loves you but can’t be loved back?”

Anna knew all too well that all Rothgarr had done so far was so that he could dismantle her guard and slowly make her “fall in love” with him so he  could play her in the palm of his hand. The escape today had angered him, and the only way to have him let go of his anger was to “coax” him into thinking that his purpose was actually being achieved.

Like what she had done to him in the Human Realm.

Didn’t he want her to love him? Then she would tell him that she was troubled by his declaration that “demons won’t fall in love with humans”, but moved by his wooing, and wanted to love but didn’t dare to.

Rothgarr took a step back.

Anna looked at him with red eyes, and took another step towards him: “I don’t want to be a pitiful creature, so I want to run away, is that so wrong?”

Rothgarr took another subconscious step back, his back hitting the closet.

He frowned, the meaning behind Anna’s words made him a little at a loss.

Anna took another step forward, standing very close to him. She raised her hand to touch his face and looked up at him: “You want me to stop thinking about running away, I can do that. As long as you tell me that demons can fall in love with humans, then I am willing to give it a try.”

Anna wasn’t really sure what Rothgarr would say, but whatever he said, she had a response for the scenario. If he lied to her and said that it was possible, then she could just put it off and ask him to give her some time to fall in love with him. If he still said it was impossible, then she would act heartbroken to let him understand that his failures were all his own fault.

But Rothgarr said nothing.

He took Anna’s hand and pushed her away, then left the room.

Anna stood alone in the room. It took a while to realize that she had survived for the time being!

She crawled onto the bed with the question she had asked to Rothgarr in her mind.

Was it possible for a demon to fall in love with a human?
