The Humble Him (3)

After watching it run back and forth, Anna couldn’t bear it, and asked Rothgarr, “Does it bite?”

“It doesn’t dare bite you,” Rothgarr said.

Anna thought about it and agreed. With Rothgarr here, these demonic creatures would be crazy to bite her. She saw that this demonic creature could understand human words, so when it came over to put down the fruit again, she said, “Let me help you!”

The big mouse paused, glanced at Anna, then at Rothgarr, turned and ran to the tree. Anna quickly followed, and when it climbed up to the tree to pick the fruit, she said, “Throw it down, I’ll catch it.”

The big mouse tentatively dropped a fruit. Seeing that Anna caught it easily, it started the process of picking the fruit and throwing it down.

Anna used the power of the wind element to smoothly catch the fruit. After close observation, she found that the big mouse did not pick the fruits randomly, but was particular about which fruits it picked. After a while, there were more than twenty fruits on the ground.

“That’s enough!” Anna said quickly. These harvested fruits didn’t last long. Although it was a little troublesome to come pick more after finishing what they had, who asked Rothgarr to bring her to the Demon Realm? He had to be responsible for her meals.

The rat looked at Anna, then at Rothgarr, then slid down from the tree and stood obediently on the side.

“You’ve worked hard,” Anna said, picking up the fruit on the ground and walking back to Rothgarr.

When Rothgarr held Anna, she suddenly asked, “How long are you going to keep me here for?”

Rothgarr hadn’t thought about it.

If things hadn’t happened at Balan’s wedding, he would still be at Balan’s place now, instead of being forced to face Anna.

Balan wanted to kill Anna, of course he couldn’t stay there any longer.

Rothgarr never thought he would encounter such a problem.

In the past, he thought Balan was just infatuated with Catherine, but The Abyss curse took effect on him.

Balan could fall in love with Katherine, so what about him?

It took him a long time to accept the fact that he had an urge to act impulsively with a human woman.

At first he thought it was the remains of Raymond’s body, but later he found that hugging Anna and kissing her really made him addicted, and he finally stopped denying this urge.

But Anna was not the kind of person who could accept this ambiguous closeness. Just to escape, she had deliberately humored him before.

He had always known that Anna was smart, tough, and sometimes too sharp even for him.

When she said she would give it a shot as long as he told her that demons could fall in love with a human, he had no way of answering her, so he ran away.

From as early on as he had consciousness, the woman Rothgarr had had the most contact with was Anna.

The prejudice he once had against human women was still there, but he knew that Anna was different.

Maybe he already knew the answer to that question, but couldn’t accept it.

He was the Grand Duke of The Abyss, how could he really fall in love with a human woman like Balan did?

This unknown emotion made him dread and even frightened him.

Seeing Anna in his arms looking up at him, Rothgarr thought of Balan’s suggestion for a moment. Kill her, or send her back to the Human Realm.

“You want to go back to the Human Realm?” Rothgarr asked coldly.

Anna retorted, “You would send me back if I asked you to?”

Rothgarr blurted out, almost without thinking, “No.”

“Then don’t ask such meaningless questions,” Anna said.

Rothgarr suddenly flew into the sky without warning, making Anna hurriedly shrink into his arms.

He liked the feeling of her being dependent on him.

But he still couldn’t get an answer, so after returning to the castle, he left Anna and went back to the room by himself.

Anna was relieved to see Rothgarr ignore her.

She found that the castle was the same as Balan’s. A convenient plumbing system was built with magic. She took the fruits to the bathroom to wash it up, and after eating until she was full, she climbed into bed.

Rothgarr still didn’t answer her question of how long she was to stay here, and she thought, maybe he didn’t think it through, either.

She vaguely guessed at what he was thinking, but she really didn’t know what kind of conclusion she should hope him to come up with.

Anna touched her belly. She would still need to continue to trouble Rothgarr tomorrow with the problem of food.

She asked him that question because she thought that if she had to stay for a long time, she might as well get some easy to grow food around the castle, so that it wouldn’t be so troublesome every time.

There were so many things that happened in one day today, Anna gradually fell asleep after thinking for a while.

Her last thought was to have Rothgarr tell her which demon creatures could be eaten tomorrow, to catch and domesticate it…

When the sun rose the next day, Anna got up.

It was very quiet around the castle, so she slept well. She had just lifted the blanket when she heard the sound of a heavy object falling not far away.

Anna was startled. There were only her and Rothgarr in the castle. The sound was obviously coming from his room… What was going on?

She hurriedly put on the slippers she took from Balan, ran out of the room quickly, came to Rothgarr’s door, knocked gently on the door and asked, “Rothgarr, is there something wrong?”

No one answered her.
