"Damien, NO! I beg you! Spare them! They don't deserve to die!!" Merlin's expression became aghast as his knees weakened further and tears began to pour out from his reddened eyes.

Linda began to profusely cry as she hugged her trembling son, who was shaken to his core from all the tension and fear by being before Damien.

"Neither did they," Damien said with an emotionless expression, ignoring Merlin's cries of despair.

Nathasia had a vacant expression, feeling a tightness in her heart if Damien was really going to kill these two in cold blood.

"What are you looking at? Did you not hear what I just said?" Damien sternly asked Nathasia.

"A-Are you really—"

"It's none of your business what I plan to do with them. Now...are you going to listen or not?" Damien asked with a heavy gaze.

Nathasia decided to take one final leap of faith that he was only trying to intimidate Merlin till he was completely broken by threatening his family.

So she holstered her gun on her ankle and slowly crouched down.

She touched the wooden part of the bed, and slowly hand-like tendrils extended out of them that wound across Linda and her son, binding them to the bed.

But remembering back to when Damien killed that entire room of people who were family members of the soldiers, Nathasia couldn't help but think if she has to stop Damien from making any more mistakes.

"Ah!" Linda was startled to see Nathasia using her powers to restrain them and wondered if their worst fears were going to come true.

Damien then took out a bottle from his pocket that was white in color and had some liquid filled to the brim.

Merlin's pupils narrowed into tiny slits when he saw that it was a bottle of kerosene oil.

His body became numb as he whispered with an ashen expression, "Damien...no...y-you can't be serious…"

Damien's expression didn't change at all, nor did he feel anything seeing the clouding despair in Merlin's eyes.

Linda felt a thickening in her throat seeing the bottle of kerosene oil, and remembering how Sofie died, she didn't dare to imagine what Damien was planning to do with them.

Her son tried to raise his head from her embrace, but she didn't let him since she didn't want him to have his soul shattered by seeing this.

Nathasia's gaze became unfocused upon seeing Damien slowly opening the bottle of kerosene.

And before she could sink her thoughts in, Damien was already pouring the kerosene oil over the horrified pair of son and mother.

"Ahhh! No!!!"

"Mother! W-What is this?!"

Merlin felt intense pain in his chest as he saw his family getting drenched in oil and finally realized at this moment why Damien had become so deranged and how much pain he must have felt.

But this realization was too late, and right now, all he cared about was saving the lives of his family.

However, Merlin found it hard to even let out a sound since his throat seems to have frozen out of despair and fear.

And not only that, but he also knew that this was what exactly happened to Damien's family because of him, which made it all the more difficult to gather his willpower.

Damien neither had joy or elation or any emotion on his face as he emptied the bottle of kerosene on them before throwing it away.

He then got up and grabbed Merlin by his collar before throwing him towards the other side, away from his family.

As Damien walked towards him, he took out a lighter from his pocket, much to the horror of others.

He opened his lighter as a flame lit up on it, and Nathasia finally realized that he was going to do it for real.

So she immediately came before Damien and grabbed his shirt as she said, "Damien...no...you don't want to do this. You can kill Merlin, but there is no need for you to kill innocent people...especially not like this."

Damien frowned and grabbed her neck, "You don't get to decide what I should do. Now get out of my way."

"No!" Realizing that he was about to push her away, Nathasia used all her strength to hug his body, adamantly refusing to go away.

"You are the Divine Child people looked up to as a hero. You save innocent people, not kill them. You should only kill the ones who hurt you and not people who had nothing to do with it...because I am sure you don't want that pain and regret in your heart," Nathasia sobbed as she continued to try her best to persuade him.

"You...maybe you aren't useful after all but someone who is meant to be a thorn in my path," Damien coldly said as he smacked her face to throw her off.

But Nathasia hugged him again, even harder as she said with bruised lips, "No...please...You gain nothing by killing them...not even any form of happiness or release but only more pain. I am sure Sofie wouldn't want you doing this."

Damien derisively chuckled, "Sofie wouldn't want this? The dead can't ask for anything. Now move before I put you down," He said as he pressed his pistol against her stomach.

"Then put me down! The only way you are going to kill them is by killing me!" Nathasia used all her resolve and willpower to blurt out her words while her eyes flashed with determination.

Even with the gun pressed against her body, she didn't flinch and wanted to save Damien from himself.

She didn't want him to make himself get lost in the dark and cold abyss of no return. Even though she knew he had already killed so many by now, she just didn't want him to carry any more sufferings that he might not even realize.

"You!" Damien's eyes flickered with frustration as he never expected her to be so fearlessly adamant at this moment.

His finger began to squeeze on the trigger, but for some reason, he couldn't find the strength to pull it down all the way, seeing her hugging him so tightly, trying to make him stop so determinedly.

But just as Damien's mind was having disorderly thoughts, Merlin, who was trying to clear his head, saw that Damien and the girl were having some kind of argument which made his heavy eyes brighten up upon seeing that there was an opportunity.

And this opportunity was none other than the gun holstered onto the girl's ankle who was standing just before him.

He saw that Damien was distracted, and he even had his gun pressed against the girl's stomach. So he didn't care what disagreement was going on between them and smiled as he subtly took out the girl's gun from her ankle holster.
