"Oh yes, Mr Chapman. How do I raise my status to be able to live in the inner city?" After seeing his to-do list, James realised he might be able to bring another of his plans to fruition.

"Well with your status as a magician you technically qualify to live in the inner city already, sorry, I assumed you knew that already. That was foolish of me." Thinking about it Raymont remembered James' situation so decided to give him the information easily due to his sympathy.

"That's great to hear! How do I go about getting a place to live in the city?"

"For that one, you're first going to have to go the magus collective and register as a fledgeling magus; then they will direct you to register as a citizen in the inner city."

"Okay, thank you, Mr Chapman, I appreciate the help. If you ever need anything from me, I'm sure you will have a way to contact me."

After affirming that he now had sufficient status to live in the inner city, James decided to get his plans into motion and so he headed straight to the Magus Collective Mr Chapman had given him directions to. Thankfully James was able to scan Chapman's detailed map in the time he was given directions as well and now had a much better feel for the inner city.

After walking for a few minutes, James came across a building that seemed to be alive compared to the rest of the city. Inspecting the building closely James realised the element particles in this area had formed a strange array and were wrapped around the building and were constantly collecting, this was apparently some form of an array for people to recharge their powers.

"Hello young man, how may I help you?" After standing to observe the building for a while a young woman approached James, she was apparently from the magus collective, but James couldn't feel any energy coming from her.

"I would like to register as a fledgeling Magus if possible." After hearing this the young woman looked at James with shock, even though he looked wealthy for the outer district he was still subpar in the inner city and without lots of money, it was impossible to become a magus in this city.

"Uh, yes, right this way then please" The woman then gave James a warm smile and lead him into the building to register.

"First we will need your identification papers and a registering fee of 10 Leones, we will then test your aptitude as a mage to decide your standing."

After passing over his ID and fee, James headed to a machine which appeared to be made of wood and spirit metal.

"For this test the better you can resonate with the spirit metal the higher your aptitude is, this is determined by the pitch of the sound from the vibration."

"Okay, do I need to do anything for this or simply just hold it?"

"You just need to run your element power through the metal and back to yourself that's it."

James took a seat in front of the machine and grabbed the two handles one with each hand and ran his power up to his left hand and through the spirit metal into his right.

After one cycle James got a feel for the machine, it appeared that inside the box was a complicated route of spirit metal tracks that he would have to navigate to form the circuit.

'This seems to be more of a test of my control than my aptitude I guess, oh well I'll just follow the track as well as possible.'

James felt out with his power and determined his route through the complex track, with the assistance of the system he was able to scan the tracks and see the best way. Which looking at it included somewhere that they had accidentally overlapped spirit tracks so there was effectively a leap in the circuit which he would be able to use to save a lot of energy and effort.

After running his power through his new smaller track, he ran his power straight through the different section of spirit metal. This section was responsible for the resonance and producing the sound after he did that it began to produce a sound that resonated with his every cell. That sound felt like it was him in its entirety, It was an oddly comforting sound to him.

"How did you activate it so quickly and make it that loud?" Now James was approached by an older man that he could tell was a mage from the feeling of energy permeating inside of him.

"I just ran the shortest route I could find and happened to find a leap in the circuit; I guess I wasn't supposed to cycle so quickly to build up energy. Also, there would probably have been a loss of power if I hadn't run the shorter circuit."

"Hmm, strong theoretical knowledge, it's a shame that the talent is somewhat lacking. Put him down as a Lowest class mage but with strong theoretical knowledge."

"Thank you, sir, I appreciate the help" James knew that even with his talent lacking he wouldn't be mistreated with the note of his theoretical knowledge.

"Okay James, can you please follow me to get your identification badge."

After receiving his badge James ran some power through it and saw it light up with his name and rank as a mage, the writing appeared to be engraved into the material, but after he stopped running his power through the badge, it disappeared without a trace.

"Thank you for all of your help ma'am It was appreciated" James handed the woman who had helped him a Leone to show his thanks, she had guided him through his whole signup, so she had earned it in his eyes.

"Your welcome sir, if you ever need anything please come back to me if I am present."

"Ah yes, one more thing, where can I register to live in the inner city?"
