Kamian raised an eyebrow towards Leo, as if daring him to object. Leo’s face became tinged with confusion.

“Then why don’t we take this opportunity for both Kamian and Liv to practice being alone without each other? After all, they won’t be living together forever.”

Despite Kamian’s persuasive words, Leo couldn’t retreat. It felt as if sparks were flying between Kamian and Leo, with me caught in the middle, about to explode.

Although I had no intention of going to the capital, Leo was right—I couldn’t spend my whole life with Kamian. Reluctantly, I had to consider his words.

“Why do you think that way?”

“It’s true.”

Kamian’s gaze lowered towards me. I avoided meeting their eyes and focused solely on Leo. Even without looking, I could sense the discontentment etched across Kamian’s face.

“I’ll talk to you about it once my health improves a bit.”

Leo’s face lit up noticeably. An undeniable joy emanated from him. Is it really that wonderful? As for the sharp energy I felt beside him, I decided to ignore it for now.

Throughout the journey back home, a deep furrow formed between Kamian’s brows. They must have been concentrating fiercely while walking, almost as if laser beams could shoot out of their eyes. Impressive, but it didn’t hurt my eyes.

“Rethink it.”

“What?”

“Not living together for the rest of our lives.”

“There’s no need to rethink it.”

I answered gruffly, kicking a pebble with my foot. At that moment, a larger foot than mine swiftly kicked the pebble far away. I stood there helplessly, staring at the pebble flying in vain.

“Why are you so stubborn?”

“Because you’re saying absurd things.”

“Have you ever thought that you’re the one clinging to something strange?”

“Huh.”

“Ha!”

I was astounded by his audacity. It seemed he had already imagined the three of us having a child together. There was no point in arguing, so I strode ahead briskly, and Kamian quickly caught up with me.

“I can guarantee there’s no one more comfortable to lean on than me when you’re tired. Don’t tell me you have the ridiculous idea of leaning on Leo’s shoulders with those narrow ones of yours. That’s disqualifying yourself as a human carriage.”

“Instead of a human carriage, you can ride in a real carriage.”

“Then what about when you take your medicine? After swallowing the bitter pills, Leo’s bastard is sure to offer some cinnamon-flavoured nonsense instead of candy. I must make sure to replace or refill the candy on time, but he always conveniently forgets and later suggests swallowing it with water, that trashy statement with a taste of bitterness.”

“I can handle the candy on my own. Are you really trying to burden me? Just keep it moderate.”

“Sometimes, when you accumulate stress, I need a few punches as a venting outlet. How many humans can truly withstand that?”

“Now I realize that you haven’t seen me as a burden but as a species of verbal abuse.”

Listening to these words, I was genuinely astounded. Of course, Kamian’s back was comfortable, and I would receive candy whenever I needed it, and no matter how hard I hit, not a single small wound would appear on his body, making him an excellent human punching bag. However, isn’t it true that I can’t live without these things?

Finally, Kamian blocked my path. If I moved my foot to the right, he followed suit, and the same happened when I moved to the left. It’s truly childish, damn it.

“Step aside.”

“I won’t.”

“….”

“Bleeding.”

“….”

“Every full moon, I have to drink your blood. How are we going to manage that?”

“We don’t have to live together just to share blood. We can meet every full moon.”

“And at that time, can you resist the urge for s*x?”

“…Why does it have to be like that?”

Kamian tilted his head slightly.

“Answer me.”

“We’ll see when the time comes.”

“Do you think you can find someone as good as me?”

“If you don’t move now, I’ll turn around and go to Sherry’s house.”

Kamian smugly cleared the way. However, that didn’t mean his persuasive, coercive, or even pleading words had come to an end.

“Debra and Jex want us to live together. They even offered us a farm. They begged me to take full responsibility.”

“Why should you take the farm? I’ll be the one to take it.”

“Yes.”

Kamian fell silent for a while, as if he had run out of words. It was quiet for a moment, and I was falsely led to believe that the waves in my heart had calmed down. But I became even more conscious. What thoughts are swirling in that head right now? I glanced at Kamian discreetly, but abruptly, his head turned towards me. With animal-like reflexes, I quickly faced him.

“What’s the reason you don’t want to live with me?”

“….”

“What’s lacking is my own self,” I replied.

“Are you confessing to me right now?” she asked.

“…It’s not a confession, but rather wounded pride,” I admitted.

Having acted so far without a shred of self-respect, I pondered over words that would satisfy both my rationale and inflict minimal harm upon her. The answer quickly came to mind. As soon as the words left my mouth, however, a sense of indigestion filled my gut. But even if it meant causing pain to her tender, expectant face, I had to wound my own heart.

“I’m tired,” I sighed.
