After handling Qin Ruixi’s situation, Wen Wenyao rushed to the hospital without stopping.

Song Nanqiao should be undergoing treatment right now, and Wen Wenyao had no idea about her condition. A sense of fear welled up in Wen Wenyao’s heart. She wanted to see Song Nanqiao, but she was also worried about receiving bad news.

“I hope nothing happens…”

She could only console herself this way in her mind.

After collecting her emotions, Wen Wenyao went to the hospital. She had only been to this hospital twice before, both times because of Song Nanqiao.

The operating room was still illuminated.

Wen Wenyao sat on a hospital bench, staring at the door of the operating room with intense focus. The green light above the door reflected in her reddened eyes, and her face was filled with unremitting worry and self-blame.

When she saw that door, Wen Wenyao became even more frightened. Song Nanqiao was inside, but she could only wait outside, unable to do anything.

This was the first time Wen Wenyao had experienced the pain of facing the possibility of losing her loved one.

It felt too real, leaving her feeling helpless. If she could, she wished she could transfer all of Song Nanqiao’s pain to herself, so that maybe her own heart would feel a little better.

After all, she didn’t want to experience the pain of possible separation due to life and death again.

“It must be so painful… I’m sorry…”

Thinking about how much pain Song Nanqiao must be enduring, Wen Wenyao’s resentment towards Qin Ruixi grew stronger. She wanted him to experience the feeling of being torn apart.

The people around her noticed Wen Wenyao’s anxious demeanor, and they cast sympathetic glances at her. Most of the people sitting on the benches outside the operating room had experienced unfortunate events.

No one knew how the young girl was feeling. Several passersby approached her, wanting to offer some comfort, but they hesitated when they saw the mix of sadness, self-blame, and anger in her eyes.

They didn’t dare to intrude and could only steal a few glances before quickly walking away.

Time passed slowly as Wen Wenyao waited outside. For her, every minute felt like an eternity. She blamed herself, felt sad, and anxious every moment.

She even wanted to cry several times but restrained herself after looking at the people around her. She didn’t want to break down in front of them.

“Miss Wen.”

The hospital director hurried over.

The nurse at the front desk had informed her that Wen Wenyao had arrived, so the hospital director quickly wrapped up her tasks and prepared to receive Wen Wenyao.

“Yes?” Wen Wenyao turned to the director, rubbing her reddened eyes with her fair hand. She suppressed her emotions, trying to speak as naturally as possible and not appear on the verge of tears.

“Is the patient your friend?”

The director carefully measured her tone, trying not to provoke strong emotions in Wen Wenyao.

“No.”

Wen Wenyao denied it.

Her response surprised the director. If the patient wasn’t a friend, what was she? The director’s mind briefly wandered, wondering if Wen Guangquan had another illegitimate child.

However, these thoughts only crossed her mind briefly, and she didn’t dwell on them.

Wen Wenyao didn’t say anything more to her.

Sensing that Wen Wenyao was in a delicate emotional state, the director left, understanding that it was better not to engage in conversation with the young lady, who seemed to be in a less-than-cheerful mood. She returned to her office to smoke a couple of cigarettes.

Silence enveloped Wen Wenyao once again. She lifted her head to gaze at the white ceiling, occasionally glancing at the operating room door.
