The doctor hurriedly rushed over, holding a stack of instruments to examine Song Nanqiao’s body, but his expression remained mostly unchanged.

However, this made Wen Wenyao even more nervous.

How is she doing…

“There’s no danger, but the stomach lining hasn’t fully healed yet. Breathing and talking will cause severe pain, and she shouldn’t eat anything for three days,” the doctor wrote down some notes in his notebook and made a brief record.

During the examination just now, the doctor unexpectedly found that Song Nanqiao’s body was recovering faster than an ordinary patient. Typically, after such a severe stomach injury, there would still be bleeding after the anesthesia wore off, but this wasn’t the case for Song Nanqiao.

“So, how can we make her more comfortable?”

Wen Wenyao looked at the doctor with a worried and anxious expression, clutching Song Nanqiao’s hand without the needle.

“We could use anesthesia, but she’s still a minor, and I don’t recommend it,” the doctor furrowed his brow. When Song Nanqiao was brought into the emergency room, anesthesia was administered directly through her spinal cord. At that time, the area below her neck was paralyzed. For a minor, this was already a substantial dose.

At this point, both the doctor and Wen Wenyao shifted their attention to Song Nanqiao.

They needed to respect Song Nanqiao’s wishes.

Song Nanqiao, lying on the bed, weakly shook her head, looking as though she might shatter at the slightest touch.

Watching Song Nanqiao’s face, Wen Wenyao furrowed her brows, feeling a pang of heartache.

Why did her beloved have to endure such suffering…

“There’s nothing majorly wrong. I’ll leave for now,” the doctor said and left with the nurse.

Song Nanqiao glanced out the window, trying to divert her attention and ignore the pain.

“Baby… Turn around, I want to see you,” Wen Wenyao pleaded softly, her words filled with soothing tenderness.

Upon hearing this, Song Nanqiao slowly turned her head, wearing a gentle smile on her face to reassure Wen Wenyao that she was fine.

“I want to say something… You don’t have to answer, just listen,” Wen Wenyao had so many things she wanted to tell Song Nanqiao.

Song Nanqiao nodded, prepared to patiently listen to her lover’s words.

“I’m sorry… I couldn’t protect you.”

Song Nanqiao shook her head, indicating that it was all alright.

“I was really scared. When they rushed you into the emergency room, I had all these terrifying thoughts in my head. I was afraid you might not make it…” Wen Wenyao’s voice wavered as she spoke, and she lowered her gaze, her pained expression reappearing.

Song Nanqiao wanted to comfort her, so she attempted to move her hand, trying to touch the girl’s face.

Seeing Song Nanqiao’s hands slightly lifting, the girl, being considerate, brought her face close and placed Song Nanqiao’s hand against her cheek. She gently held Song Nanqiao’s hand with her own.

“Will it hurt if you raise your hand?” Wen Wenyao lowered her head a bit more, showing a nervous expression. She was afraid that Song Nanqiao might accidentally touch her wound.

“It won’t…” Song Nanqiao managed to say her first word, but she still felt pain.

Song Nanqiao: Um… maybe I should talk less for now.

Understanding Song Nanqiao’s discomfort, the girl obediently leaned against Song Nanqiao’s hand, like an affectionate cat staying by its owner’s side when the owner is unwell.

With her head lowered, Wen Wenyao spoke with a hint of sadness in her voice, “You must get better soon… You still have to be with me for a long time. I want to sleep with you.”

Wen Wenyao rubbed against Song Nanqiao’s hand, hoping to sense some real emotions from her.

“Okay.” Despite the discomfort in her body, Song Nanqiao reassured her.

“By the way, there’s something I want to say…”

Wen Wenyao seemed to recall something and lifted her head.

“Yes?”

“Nanqiao… Would you like to transfer to Class A?”

Wen Wenyao gazed at Song Nanqiao with gentle and hopeful eyes.

She knew about Song Nanqiao’s grades and about Tao Jingzhuo going to Class A to find Song Nanqiao.

When Tao Jingzhuo told her that he wanted Song Nanqiao to transfer to Class A, Wen Wenyao was thrilled. She wanted to be closer to Song Nanqiao and spend more time with her.

However, Song Nanqiao appeared hesitant, furrowing her brow and looking away. She didn’t speak or make any gestures. Wen Wenyao could sense that she seemed unwilling.

“Do you not want to?” The girl felt a bit disheartened, but she adjusted her tone carefully to avoid making Song Nanqiao uncomfortable.

“Let’s talk about it later…” Song Nanqiao’s weak voice came through.

She was worried that her transfer to Class A might affect Wen Wenyao and that Wen Wenyao would face public pressure.

“Okay.” Wen Wenyao didn’t want to push further. She knew that sometimes she had to follow Song Nanqiao’s lead.

“I want to sleep for a while…”

Song Nanqiao adjusted her hand and held Wen Wenyao’s hand, which reassured Wen Wenyao a bit.

“Mmm… I’ll be right here with you, not going anywhere,” Wen Wenyao said softly. She placed Song Nanqiao’s hand under the blanket, tucked her in, and gazed at Song Nanqiao with tender and affectionate eyes.

There was still some sweat on her lover’s forehead. Wen Wenyao stood up gently, took out a handkerchief from her bag, and delicately wiped Song Nanqiao’s forehead, fearing that she might wake her.

Once everything was taken care of, Wen Wenyao sat back down beside Song Nanqiao.

“Darling… I’m here with you. I won’t go anywhere,” Wen Wenyao whispered. She leaned down and gently kissed Song Nanqiao’s forehead, her eyes filled with an unbreakable love and cherish, as if she were kissing a precious gem.
