“I’m not worth it for you…” Song Nanqiao slowly shook her head, her emotions becoming somewhat complex.

Wen Wenyao was perfect…

A girl as perfect as her would be a rare find anywhere. Even without Song Nanqiao, Wen Wenyao would still be loved by many and have a bright and splendid life.

Wen Wenyao heard this but didn’t rush to refute. Instead, she held Song Nanqiao’s hand and placed it on her own chest.

A gentle expression appeared in the girl’s eyes, and no matter how Song Nanqiao tried to avoid her gaze, Wen Wenyao always met her with tenderness.

She leaned closer to Song Nanqiao, their cheeks almost touching. She seized the opportunity to kiss the corner of Song Nanqiao’s lips, the kiss gentle and delicate, landing softly on Song Nanqiao’s face. Just this one action was enough to make Song Nanqiao blush and her heart race.

“I said I’m not worth it…” Song Nanqiao defensively moved away, but her cheeks were still flushed.

“Heh.” The girl chuckled lightly, as if soothing a child, and kissed Song Nanqiao’s forehead.

“You are forever worth it because I love you…” Wen Wenyao leaned close to Song Nanqiao’s ear, her voice soft, filled with tenderness and affection.

She hadn’t expected Song Nanqiao to have moments of insecurity in matters of the heart. Before, it was Wen Wenyao who felt she didn’t measure up to Song Nanqiao, thinking she was too outstanding. She hadn’t expected that Song Nanqiao thought the same way about her.

“Little Akward, don’t be so stubborn when you know how much I care about you…” Wen Wenyao hugged her again. [1]

“Don’t call me that way… I’m going to sleep now, we have work tomorrow.”

Song Nanqiao’s cheeks were hot, feeling a bit embarrassed. Wen Wenyao was truly… too skilled.

“I understand.” Wen Wenyao chuckled softly and then lay down beside her.

However, Wen Wenyao, lying down, didn’t immediately fall asleep. Instead, she wrapped her arms around Song Nanqiao from behind. The girl’s hot breath caressed Song Nanqiao’s neck, and her smooth thighs gently rubbed against Song Nanqiao’s waist, tickling her and keeping her wide awake.

“Don’t tease me; I need to rest.” Song Nanqiao shifted a little further away, realizing that with Wen Wenyao’s actions, she wouldn’t get a good night’s sleep.

“Alright, I won’t bother you.”

Wen Wenyao truly stopped her movements and simply held Song Nanqiao, allowing her to peacefully fall asleep in her embrace.

The next day.

Song Nanqiao paced back and forth in the living room, rehearsing her words.

“Don’t overthink it; just say what you want to say.” Wen Wenyao poured her a glass of hot water and brought it to her lips.

“How can I not overthink… How should I approach this conversation to make him lister?” Song Nanqiao took a sip of water and fell into deep thought.

“Don’t put too much pressure on yourself.”

Wen Wenyao sat quietly beside Song Nanqiao, looking concerned about her demeanor.

“When will your father be back?”

“Soon, he should be home before 6 PM tonight.”

“I should prepare then.”

“Mm-hmm,” Wen Wenyao nodded.

“Let me iron your suit before you go.”

Wen Wenyao stood up and went into the bedroom. She had been helping Song Nanqiao with her clothes ever since they got together. She put the steaming iron on Song Nanqiao’s shirt.

After a while, her voice came from the room.

“It’s ready; come and try it on.”

“Okay.”

Inside the room, Wen Wenyao carefully adjusted every detail on Song Nanqiao’s clothing, helping her straighten her tie.

“Now, let’s go.”

“Okay,” Wen Wenyao said softly, then held onto Song Nanqiao’s hand.

On the way, neither of them spoke, but Wen Wenyao kept her hand gently covering Song Nanqiao’s, trying to comfort her in this silent way.

Wen’s Residence.

After Song Nanqiao got out of the car, she saw the butler waiting at the entrance.

It seemed that she hadn’t been here for a long time, as the butler appeared slightly surprised.

“Hello, is Mr. Wen at home?” Song Nanqiao politely inquired.

Wen Wenyao stood silently by her side, not saying anything.

“He is.”

“I’d like to see Mr. Wen.”

“I’ll inquire first.”

The butler took out his phone and made a call to Wen Guangquan.

After a while, the butler nodded at Song Nanqiao.

“Mr. Wen is in the study on the third floor.”

“Thank you.” Song Nanqiao replied.

She then walked toward the house, leaving a parting message for Wen Wenyao. “You go back to your room and get some rest.”

Wen Wenyao didn’t respond immediately; she simply walked up to Song Nanqiao, raised herself on tiptoes, and whispered softly in her ear, “Be careful. I’ll always be on your side.”

Wen Wenyao spoke these words seriously, like a cautionary note.

“Okay.”

Once Wen Wenyao disappeared from her sight, Song Nanqiao composed herself and proceeded to the third floor.

It was still the familiar door, and Song Nanqiao knocked on it and then entered.

“Disturbing you, Mr. Wen.”

“At this hour, you timed it well. Did you hear some rumors?” Wen Guangquan looked at the documents in his hand. Only when Song Nanqiao had settled on the sofa did he lift his head, his tone carrying a hint of displeasure.

“Yes.”

Song Nanqiao didn’t beat around the bush and thought it would be better to be direct.

“Contending with the military for this development site isn’t a wise decision. I hope Mr. Wen will consider it carefully.”

“It’s not me contending with them; they came to me.”

Wen Guangquan snorted and tossed the documents in front of Song Nanqiao.

This development site, as Wen Guangquan had said, was secured by him using his immense financial power at the earliest opportunity. The military and Mr. Xu’s faction had missed this opportunity and were merely barking because of their incompetence.

“Even so, the military should relax a bit and allow them to do business inside.”

Song Nanqiao carefully reviewed the documents.

This development site was indeed obtained by Wen Guangquan through overwhelming financial strength, but its location was too crucial. That’s why the later businessmen and military units were trying everything to take it from Wen Guangquan.

“That’s impossible. I’m the only one who can make money from this site.”

“Military pressure should be avoided, Mr. Wen. Military power cannot be measured by money alone.”

“Military power? Do you think I don’t have an army?”

Wen Guangquan found it somewhat amusing. He couldn’t have dared to engage in such significant transactions abroad without some military power.

“Even if you have one, it’s still vastly different.”

“Hmph, their equipment was given to them by me. During the financial crisis a few years ago, the country couldn’t allocate funds for them. It was only because of me that they could even afford to eat.”

At this point, Song Nanqiao understood that Wen Guangquan had a dismissive attitude toward both the military and business factions. He treated them with the same disdain. This could be dangerous…

“But if they unite, Mr. Wen will have to take them seriously.”

“The Chamber of Commerce doesn’t matter. Applying some pressure will make them more obedient. As for the military, I’m not worried. I can spend some money to appease them if needed.”

“Be cautious, Mr. Wen. You’re in a vulnerable position right now.”

“Enough, let’s stop talking about this. I secured the development site completely last night. You’re just a student I’m mentoring. Focus on your own matters and stay out of mine.”

Wen Guangquan waved his hand, seeming disinterested in continuing.

He knew Song Nanqiao was trying to persuade him, but Wen Guangquan didn’t appreciate it. He had worked hard to secure this development site and was willing to face the risks head-on.

If Wen Guangquan gave in even a little, people would continuously come to demand more. Moreover, the military would never be satisfied; their appetite was insatiable. No matter how much he gave, they would want more.

“Alright, I won’t bother you.”

As Song Nanqiao stood up and walked toward the door, Wen Guangquan called out to her again.

“Song Nanqiao.”

“Yes?”

“I’ve heard that you’ve been with Wen Wenyao during her filming.”

Wen Guangquan’s tone was very calm, showing no emotional fluctuations.

Song Nanqiao kept her composure, looking at him calmly and waiting for his next words.

“Wen Wenyao is my daughter. Don’t think about things you shouldn’t think about. You’re not worthy.” His tone contained a hint of warning, a significant departure from his previous attitude.

“I’m sorry; I don’t understand what Mr. Wen is saying.” Song Nanqiao paused briefly, then left the meeting room.

“Interesting…” Wen Guangquan watched the closed door, chuckling coldly.

Wen Wenyao had been running to Song Nanqiao during this period and even brought her along when filming. Wen Guangquan wasn’t a fool; he had a general idea of what was going on.

If it were someone else, Wen Guangquan would have lost his temper a long time ago and might have even severed their ties. Now, he was letting Song Nanqiao off the hook and giving her a chance, mainly because he recognized her talent and believed that like-minded people should stick together.

He just hoped that Song Nanqiao wouldn’t act ungratefully…
