It was as if she suddenly realized something.

Song Nanqiao tightly grasped Wen Wenyao’s hand, her pupils beginning to tremble.

“My guess seems to be coming true…”

She felt a fear of facing death.

She stood still, wanting to say something but hesitating. After about twenty seconds, she still hadn’t reacted.

Beside her, Wen Wenyao held Song Nanqiao’s hand tightly. She looked into Song Nanqiao’s eyes, clearly startled.

“Nanqiao… What’s wrong?” The girl cautiously inquired, not missing any subtle expressions on her face.

“Host! Get out of here quickly!” With the system’s exclamation, Song Nanqiao finally snapped back to reality.

The next second,

There was a deafening explosion…

“Damn it!” Song Nanqiao gritted her teeth, squinting at the billowing smoke from the building. She swiftly scooped up Wen Wenyao, not looking back, and started running.

In an instant, the surroundings were filled with cries of the crowd. All the gentlemen and ladies dressed in suits and formal attire had lost their composure and were aimlessly rushing towards the exit.

But they were mowed down by bursts of gunfire, falling heavily to the ground. The remaining people scattered like headless flies.

Song Nanqiao forced herself to stay calm.

At this moment, the priority was to leave this place quickly. Song Nanqiao mentally outlined a map of the venue. They were in a secluded garden area, a considerable distance from the main hall. That’s why they hadn’t been injured earlier. But escaping without passing through the hall would be challenging.

Song Nanqiao assessed her current strength. She had to take a gamble.

The girl in her arms seemed to be completely frightened, clinging tightly to Song Nanqiao’s clothes. She was looking back at the building that had just been blown up.

She had never experienced anything like this before, being a sheltered lady who had grown up in a safe and comfortable environment. There was no way she could stay calm in such a situation.

“Don’t be afraid, I’ll get you out of here,”

Song Nanqiao said, looking into her eyes. She tried to block Wen Wenyao’s view, so she wouldn’t have to see what was happening around them.

“I’ll take you beyond the wall. Find a telephone booth and immediately contact your father’s friend. Don’t stay in one place. I’ll find my way out.” Song Nanqiao gave a brief explanation. She was nervous, and sweat had dripped down from her forehead to her jawline, but she maintained a calm appearance.

“No… I can’t leave you alone.” Wen Wenyao clung tightly to Song Nanqiao’s clothes.

Now she had a clear understanding of the situation they were facing. She couldn’t leave Song Nanqiao alone. Song Nanqiao was innocent, and she loved her. Even if she died here, she couldn’t let Song Nanqiao get hurt.

If she could, she was willing to sacrifice herself.

But now, she could only rely on Song Nanqiao. The feeling of watching her lover desperately fight for her, knowing she couldn’t help, was unbearable.

“Song Nanqiao… First, protect yourself. Don’t worry about me. You have to survive,” she said, her voice trembling, but there was determination in it.

The girl was trembling, still trying to push Song Nanqiao away with all her strength, biting her shoulder when she couldn’t. Only then did Song Nanqiao let her go.

Wen Wenyao’s swollen eyes stared at Song Nanqiao. Her intense expression started to show longing and reluctance, as if she wanted to look at Song Nanqiao one more time and etch her image deep into her heart.

One look and that would be enough.

Wen Wenyao thought that in this short life, she had everything she needed. Perhaps her time was short, but she had it all. She didn’t seem to lack anything anymore.

Song Nanqiao understood the emotions she was hiding in her heart. She bent down and hugged her, whispering softly in her ear, “I’ll be fine. Just wait for me. I promise I’ll be back soon.”

Before Song Nanqiao could say another word, another deafening explosion rang out. With the collapse of the wall and debris falling all around them, time seemed to slow down, allowing Song Nanqiao to see the trajectory of the flying debris.

Without any further thought, Song Nanqiao grabbed Wen Wenyao and moved her away from the deadly wall fragments.

After those brief seconds, Song Nanqiao realized that half of the wall had collapsed. She could see a group of masked men with guns outside the wall.

“Host, run! Within a hundred meters, everyone has guns. Don’t teleport Wen Wenyao out.” The system practically shouted.

“Understood.” Song Nanqiao quickly assessed her surroundings, took Wen Wenyao’s hand, and began running to another location.

“Take off your high heels.”

“Okay…”

It had been incredibly dangerous just now. Fortunately, her skills had activated at the moment the wall exploded, allowing her to dodge the debris.
