Meanwhile, the cops had arrived at Mika's house, and the bodies of her family members were getting taken into the ambulances.
Mika was sitting on the couch, and her body was covered with multiple blankets. She was shivering, but not from cold, nor from fear. She was simply acting to be sacred.
After the nurse patched up Mika's wounds, she was taken to the bathroom for a bath.
The detectives, including Mr.L, a.k.a— Liam, were also there.
Mika came out of the bathroom after 15 minutes, and the detective called her into the living room.
Mika sat on the couch, and Liam sat on the chair in front of her.
"So… umm… Mika, I know this is not the right time to ask the questions, but if you cooperate with us, we can find the killer."
"Ask what you want," Mika responded in a disdainful tone.
"Uhh, your elder sister's dead body was found a few streets away," Liam informed.
"So… did you see the face of the killer?" Liam asked in a calm voice.
"It was covered by the mask."
"I see…"
Liam looked through the file in his hand and showed Mika a photo of Leon, although the image was blurry and Leon's face was covered with a mask and hoodie.
"Is this the killer?" Liam asked.
"I—"
"Sir!" an officer interrupted them and said, "The reports have arrived."
Liam looked through the reports and muttered, "So the sperms matched, huh?"
"Yes, it is the same person who killed the two porn stars on the other street. It seems this killer likes to r*pe the victims' patterns in front of them before killing them," the officer asserted.
The couple Leon had killed was a world-famous pornstar duo, although Leon wasn't aware of that.
"Yes." Mika nodded and said, "It was the same person."
Mika initially planned to lie by saying, 'I am not sure.' However, now that the officer had confirmed it was the same person, Mika could lie. Otherwise, she would be seen as a suspect rather than a victim.
Another detective approached Liam and said, "You are asking her the wrong questions! Let me interrogate her!"
"C.K, you have to be considerate of the victims!" Liam retorted. "You have no idea how she must be feeling right now."
"L, we can't sympathize with anyone! It's our job, dammit!" C.K yelled.
"You don't know how it feels to lose your family in front of you…" Liam looked at C.K with a sad look on his face and uttered, "But I do."
C.K let out a deep sigh and patted Liam's shoulders before saying, "You need a break, my dude."
After saying that, C.K left.
Liam turned to Mika and said, "I am sorry for—"
"No, it's fine." After a brief pause, Mika said, "I want you to do your job."
Liam nodded and pondered for a while before asking, "So Mika, this mind sounds rude, but can I ask you why the killer killed everyone but spared you?"
"We… we all were watching a movie and didn't realize when he broke in. He... he tied my father and brothers and r*ped my mother, my sisters-in-law, and my sisters in front of them. Then, he asked my mother to kill my father, so she did. But he killed my mother afterward. Then, he asked my sisters-in-law to kill my brothers, but they didn't, so he killed them too. And then… he asked me and my sisters to kill my brothers. At first, he asked my middle sister, but she refused, so he killed her. He then asked my older sister, and she killed my brothers. However, she ran away after killing them, so the killer chased after her. I saw the right chance to call the cops," Mika responded in a monotonous tone.
Of course, some of the things Mika said were lies, but the detectives had no way of knowing it.
"You did the right thing. If you hadn't called us, the killer might have come back and killed you too," Liam asserted.
Mika smirked inwardly and asked, "Can I go to my room now? I am scared."
"Uhh…" Liam looked at his phone and said, "We are still inspecting the house. So if possible, take a rest here on the couch. Once we are done, we will send you to a safe hotel. This place is dangerous for you."
Liam left the house and went into the van parked in front of the house.
There were computers and machines in the van, and an officer was doing something on them.
"Did you find something?" Liam asked the officer.
"No, sir."
"What about the footage from the CCTVs? Did you retrieve them?" Liam asked in an annoyed tone.
"No, sir. All the data was deleted, and the hard drive is missing," the officer replied.
"The killer is smart," the officer added with a scoff.
Liam frowned his face and stared at the officer without saying anything.
"Sorry, Sir," the officer apologize.
SIGH!
Liam sighed and jumped out of the van.
"I haven't slept since Eren's murder." Liam rubbed his hand on his head and said, "I never thought I would say this, but… I need a damn break."
Liam took out his phone and scrolled down his contact list. He called the contact named 'babe' and muttered, "Pick up."
After three rings, a voice said, [Yes?]
"Diana. Have the bodies arrived at the lab yet?" Liam asked.
[Yes, they just arrived,] she replied.
"Where are you right now?"
[I am on my way to the lab. What about you?]
"I am still at the scene," Liam responded in a calm voice.
[Are you okay? You sound tired,] Diana asked in an anxious tone
"Listen, the state of those bodies are… well, messed up. Maybe you should ask someone else to—"
[It's okay, Liam. I have to get used to it sooner or later.]
"Okay…" After a brief silence, Liam said, "I love—"
However, Diana had hung up the call.
SIGH!
"And I thought I would get to spend some time with her…" Liam sighed.

"Uhh…" Liam looked at his phone and said, "We are still inspecting the house. So if possible, take a rest here on the couch. Once we are done, we will send you to a safe hotel. This place is dangerous for you."
Liam left the house and went into the van parked in front of the house.
