Chapter 141: he k Ups

The crowd went outside following Klautz through the only door to the theater. Klautz had stood out but before he knew it he found himself surrounded by hundreds of people making his presence non existent.
"Everyone get into a proper line! The checks ups are about to begin."
They were greeted by few armored resident who helped them form a queue. Their shouts resounded across the hall as they instructed everyone what they had to do. Like a cattle led by a shepherd little by little they stood in a queue.
"Klautz?"
Selena looked troubled as Klautz pulled her behind. She was just walking around to check out what was happening... what they were about to face. The tensed expressions on everyone's faces made her curious. Even the 'residents' seemed like they were running against time. They shouted and roared like there was no tomorrow.
"Let's merge behind. Standing at the very front would be troublesome."
Walking past the queue Klautz's eyes scanned every person along his way. He was looking for someone who was strong and had a good deal of presence to them them. Simply speaking he was looking for someone who would stand out. Such a quest was for reasons more than one.
'I must find someone who is able to mask my presence'
Klautz was in a difficult position with his stats being nothing other than an anomaly. While sooner or later they would be known by everyone alike he didn't wanted to reveal them so soon in the game.
Klautz had already thought it out what his goals were and what he aimed to do in the 'newbie drill'. He also had a rough idea of the course of actions he needs to take. And it was quite in contrast to what he usually does. But that was something for later.
At the moment he needs to hide his presence for what was about to happen.
"She would do…"
A woman standing in the middle of the queue with a majestic green yukata on her. But unlike others her clothes weren't ragged or torn.
Had she even fought any battles? Was what came to Klautz's mind. Her elegant appearance was really suspicious considering they had just come out of the tutorial zone. Not to mention that she had a good enough presence signifying her strength.
'What is she?'
Klautz narrowed his eyes so much so that they almost connected each other.
'Well, at least she would work for my cause. I will get more information about her soon enough.'
Having such thoughts, Klautz slipped behind her. While Selena was clinging to him Verona followed behind as she stood just behind them.
Klautz slipped behind the yukata girl unaware of her identity. While Selena was clinging to him Verona followed behind as she stood just behind them.
The queue marched outside as they once again found themselves under the blue sky. The field in front of them seemed as if it was trimmed and cleaned off from all forms of vegetation... It was just the rocky soil below with no moss or trees around.
"We will immediately begin checkups for your training sessions. Don't step in until you are called by us. That is if you value your life," Gozoto explained.
Everyone looked at each other in confusion. They thought that the next person might have had some but all of them were equally confused
"Klautz, what will happen now?" Selena asked.
Klautz leaned closer to Selena as he whispered.
"They intend to discern all of our secrets. Our stats… our powers everything"
Klautz gritted his teeth as he felt annoyed by this breach of privacy. In a place like Hell, giving away your powers could get you killed! It was because when you reveal your powers, you are also revealing your weaknesses.
But thanks people like Ronald, no one was going to target the newbies... at least not until the 'drill' was over.
The people who have come before… the people who are the 'Residents' would of course want to control the newbies to their will.
'They would have forced us to show our status screens if not for people like Ronald.'
It was because of Activists like Ronald that those old fogies were kept in check and could not sabotage the newbies. But even powerhouses like Ronald could only do so and so. In the end, an indirect method was employed to discern their strength. Under the disguise of training to prepare the newbies for 'Hell', they would try out everything under heaven to discern their strength and potential.
It wasn't too hard a job. After all, ninjas had already invented something like Detection Jutsu which didn't require any powers to execute at all! Even Klautz who had no ninja based skills could easily do it.
'They would be probably be using different methods.'
Two guards stepped forward and picked up the first group of five newbies of the queue as they took them to Gozoto.
"Everyone watch closely as you would be expected to do the same."
There were two types of equipment present at the center of the field. One of them looked like a series of cannon heads connected with each other all at different heights and positions. The other one was what seemed to be a punching bag hanging from a metal frame.
The armored guards pulled out the first girl pushing her towards Gozoto.
"What is your name? Age?" Gozoto asked staring at his notebook. He didn't even take a look a look at the fidgeting girl next to him.
Her legs trembled like crazy. She remembers the monstrosity called Gozoto. How much pain he had caused that man. The man had screamed and cried but Gozoto had turned it to deaf ears.
"Karine. 17 years old."
The young and innocent had a bad luck today. No one wanted to be standing at the front of the queue so they forced the poor girl ahead. Being meek and humble as she was, her little protests were turned to the deaf ears.
