Chapter 155: Room visit

From Klautz's reaction, it was clear to Verona that he didn't find it pleasing. Shopping for clothes? Only a woman like her could understand its importance!
"How much gold do you have left?"
"150…" she lied. She had only 75 left on her. She didn't want to get scolded again.
'How many clothes did she buy to spend all her fortune?' Klautz thought. 'Girls…'
Being a level 2 in the test, she should have received 250 gold. Yet much of it was spent on clothes.
"Well, what you do with your money is your personal choice. I don't have much to say"
Klautz shook his head.
Clothes were rather cheaply sold in the drill to keep the newbies under the illusion that the gold they had had the same value as back on earth. Klautz could only imagine how much she had spent.
On the other hand, Klautz didn't buy any!
Compared to others Klautz rarely got hit by an attack. His clothes were still in better condition at least by Klautz's standards. Not to mention Klautz was resourceful enough to make his own clothes.
"Can you continue?" Klautz asked. "Maybe you could move away since you are exhausted."
Klautz needed to grind for himself and couldn't let himself fall back because of her.
But Verona shook her head.
"No, I am fine"
Klautz shrugged as he ran towards the skeletons back again drawing their agro. Even if Verona continued to fight, there were only so many puppets in proper shape left for her to exhaust.
And soon enough all of the puppets were exhausted. Klautz had to spend a lot of monster material to make them but he didn't regret it. After all, at the end of the day, Verona was his own vassal.
Verona was unable to fight any further and had to step back leaving Klautz to grind all alone.

The sun went down the horizon.
"I am not sure I would be able to face them at night," Klautz whispered as he watched the sun set.
At night the skeleton's get an added strength boost which surpassed Klautz's strength by a great margin. Since they almost had their strength doubled Klautz was skeptical about grinding any further. Not to mention, that he had to report back to the congregation hall.
"And I have to reach the headquarters too."
Klautz sighed as he retracted his sword back and walked away.
"Let's go. I am done."
Verona started towards Klautz as if waiting for something.
"What?!"
Klautz tilted his head.
"Ah, nothing. Let's go."
She had watched Klautz at his best today. With a strength like that did he even need her help? Was the question that was weighing on her mind.

"Here is your 500 gold."
Klautz received another ring full of gold from the banker.
He took a ring and glared at the resident who passed it onto him. Klautz was trying to figure out how he ended up in such a situation. Not only he but Verona and Selena received 500 gold as well.
'How did I receive a reward when there was no guard to count my progress?'
Bonus rewards like this were given out to everybody depending on the number of monsters they killed. This was another reason why a guard was sent to supervise them. It was to calculate their progress.
Klautz sighed.
"Must be Shizu"
Klautz turned towards the girl who was now smiling away with a grin on her face. She knew that she was figured out by Klautz. After all she was the one who had pulled the strings.
Klautz scratched his neck. He had pretty much given up on the bonus reward thanks to him chasing away the guard. But not only did he receive the bonus for free, he wasn't sure what he should do.
'Should I take her goodwill or should I brush it off? And if I accept it would I have to repay her in some way?'
Klautz had no idea. In both of his lives he had never received anything for free. Whatever he had on him, he had to bet on his life to get his hands on it.
Now when such a situation presented itself to him out of nowhere he felt conflicted.
Klautz sighed.
He accepted the money from the banker to not look suspicious to the others. He decided that he would think about it later. His brain cells were made for battle strategies not for this sort of stuff.
On the other hand, Verona and Selena, clueless about Shizu's involvement, could only rejoice at the bonus reward.
"Let's go big sis! I have something to show you"
Once Selena and Shizu left Klautz approached Verona.
"Come to my room when you are done, I have something to discuss," saying so Klautz walked away leaving the conflicted Verona at her own devices.
She bit her lips as she watched him walk away.
'What is it now? Am I going to be scolded again?'
Klautz didn't take her along with him since he knew that she needed a change of clothes. Her clothes were in tatters and revealed too much skin.
Klautz had his reasons for calling her over. He believed that being alone tonight wasn't favourable for him since he had a stalker looming over his head. WIth no roommate to speak of he could only think of Verona to call over.
Shizu seemed somewhat attached to Selena. And Klautz didn't feel like calling Selena today.
But contrary to Klautz's reasons, Verona had some different thoughts.
'If nothing happened in that forest nothing should happen in his room too right?'

Verona walked in with the creaking of the door. Her head was bending low to hide the blush on her cheeks. She was feeling embarrassed being in a boy's room so late at night.
