*gulp*

'Damn, this is too much… though there is no way I am buying it without weighing the cons.'

The offer was too enticing for Klautz to just pass it off as a shrug.

One must note that Klautz was earning 500 gold everyday only because Suzu was benevolent to him. She had technically become her sponsor. And unlike most people on hell she had asked for no returns on it. Klautz had no idea whether he should call such an act naivety or kindness or worse having no sense of the value of money distributing it to others carelessly, but Klautz was having a nice time reaping the benefits of it.

Had he not, he wouldn't have been paid so high. The other newbies hardly earned 100 -200 gold. Thus if Klautz refuses her offer at this point, not only would he not get the 5000 gold but also his daily pay might vaporize into thin air making earning quite harder considering his constraints.

Klautz's chin quivered.

"May I know, who gets to keep the winning prize in case I won?" Klautz asked with quivering eyes that glittered of gold.

The winning prize itself was 2500 gold. While it wasn't the price that was enough to water Klautz mouth with drool, 7500 gold was definitely worth a lot!

Shizu smirked as she held onto her hips. Klautz hadn't noticed it but his earlier question had pleased her soul and calmed her heart. She was reluctant as to whether it was even worth asking Klautz for such a favour. After all, even if he gets the money, he would be beaten pretty badly if he loses.

But Klautz's slip of tongue portrayed that Klautz could indeed win this match. Why would he ask about the prize money otherwise?

'Looks like I have come to the right place.'

The average newbie stricken with fear would have never even thought of winning such a battle. She had assumed that for such a reason Klautz had not showed up at the theatre. Little did she know that it was hardly the case. She had yet not noticed the flushed red cheeks of Verona.

Satisfied, she continued.

"You of course! If you win it would all belong to you."

Shizu nodded with a raised nose.

It seemed like she was not as selfish as Gozoto who ended up taking away all the money for himself. She was indeed the mother of benevolence.

"I am just hiring you to participate in the match. If you win, then its your glory. I hope that you won't be disappointing me…"

"Wait a second!"

Klautz cut her off in between leaving her mouth wide, unable to speak.

"I never said I would be bound by your conditions. I need a moment to weight the pros and cons. I won't be blinded by greed alone…"

Klautz wasn't a fool. He wouldn't act rashly even if there was a huge payment ahead or so was what he believed. After all, didn't he hate the ninja villages exactly because of their greed alone?

But Shizu was quick to cut off his train of thoughts. The iron must not be allowed to cool down.

"8000 coins!"

Klautz ears twitched as he stared at her with a stupified gaze.

'Why is someone who has just become an adult carrying so much money around?' Klautz thought.

It wasn't weird for the second gen to have extremely expensive weapons and accessories. They recieve a lot of them from the guilds that support their growth. But it was rare for them to carry so much liquefied money. After all, wasn't the task of handling money that of the guild alone?

But Shizu wasn't bothered by all of that.

'How can I back off now?'

Klautz words had convinced her that he was the right person to trust on this. So she didn't mind increasing her investment a bit. It was just a 60% increase. The iron must be stuck when it is hottest!

Colt chose to pay 1000 coins to every newbie that becomes his punching bag. How could Shizu act stingy if that was the case? She chose to believe in Klautz and also on Selena's assessment.

The newbies who had never earned more than 100 coins were already drooling at the thought of the 1000 gold.

Thus Shizu could only wonder where Klautz's boundaries actually lied.

'He doesn't seem to find 5000 gold lucrative enough.'

She hadn't yet realized that she herself was the one who had increased his boundaries by needlessly pampering him.

"So? What do you want to do? Take it or leave it?" Shizu asked with a smirk.

'Damn this girl think she can do anything just because she has some gold under her belt.'

Klautz couldn't help but have his brows twitching at her cheekiness but he couldn't turn down the offer either. Not to mention that refusing the offer would also stop his daily flow of money.

*Sigh*

'More than 10000 gold. It doesn't come by everyday.'

Klautz knew better. How hard it was to earn money in hell.

'Not to mention that I am getting the full sum at such a weak stage.'

Klautz was indeed robbed a lot when he had worked as a ninja. A mission that would be priced at 1000 gold coins wouldn't pay him as much. There was a cut at every level of jurisdiction. He could only cry as he thought back on it.

'There was a 20% cut for the representative who would be bringing the client with a mission. And the village itself took a 50% cut. All there was left for me was a measly 30%. Even on that I had to subtract 5% since I had to work for free for some privileged people who the village seemed to owe 'favors'.'
