Chapter 55: Bla k o oon

The beast's belly struck back as it opened its mouth and released a fiery fluid. It flew in the air as it hurled at them. They dodged to the left following Klautz's lead barely surviving the attack. This was the first and probably the last instruction Klautz had ever given to the team.
The fluid fell on the stark black floor as it began corroding and melting it, making itself sink below.
"This is bad. This ape is spitting lava." Klautz whispered. This is a beast even someone like Klautz had witnessing for the first time. He doesn't remember any beast in Hell that resembled the beast that stood in front of him.
"All of you stay back if you don't want to die," Klautz shouted as he clasped his sword with three of his fingers while pointing the index finger in the upward direction. Klautz didn't want Dant and his group to fight, as weak as they are they would only come in his way and disrupt his battle.
"I will take on this beast myself."
Klautz clenched his fists as he ran towards the beast.
"I have never seen this beast before but facing it in long-range is a bad idea." Klautz deduced from the beast's last show.
The beast had smoke rising from his mouth as it was preparing for the next shot. But Klautz was quick to react before it could do anything. With a quick swing of his arm, he threw his sword at the beast. The sword glided swiftly through the air.
The beast swung its arm. The sword collided with its claw mid-air and bounced off in the air. It made several flips as it glided through the air. Klautz who was still running towards the beast leapt in the air as it caught his flying sword by its hilt.
While still being in mid-air, he took out a vial and shattered it on his sword.
*Crack*
"This should work"
Klautz imagined a long sword in his mind. The sword slightly grew in its length, this being the sword's innate ability. The vial's fluid was dripping through it. A purple fluid, the black serpent's venom. Klautz had butchered every beast that he killed. As such it didn't forget to collect the beast's poison back at the first stage.
Klautz swung his sword.
*Clang*
The beast blocked it again with its claw. It swung the other claw but Klautz easily dodged it.
"It is slow"
With Klautz already boosted stats Klautz was having an easy time fighting the beast.
"Now I just have to get some cuts," he smiled.
He swung his sword like a maniac. Some were blocked by the beast while some connected with the purple fluid seeping through his skin, mixing with its red blood that oozed out.
"Roar!" The beast roared as it tried to get a hit on Klautz buts its efforts were failing to show its effects.
"Something feels wrong" Klautz whispered. He leapt back from the beast as he tried to confirm his suspicion. His eyes narrowed and his forehead wrinkled.
[Time limit for stat boosts has ended]
A message suddenly popped up on his screen. Klautz shrugged. He had more or less guessed that this was coming soon. But for now, KLautz was worried about something else.
The beast charged at Klautz at full speed swinging its arm at him to decapitate, but Klautz leapt back barely dodging it. His speed had reduced than before.
"As I suspected."
Klautz nodded. He took a long jump as he swung his spare swords in an upward swing.
*crack*
They got stuck to the roof of the stage. Black dust from the ceiling fell on Klautz hair making it more of a mess than it already was. At a moment's notice, Klautz turned his Tossias's into a cloak and covered himself. He hung like a black cocoon and without shifting eyesight from certain angles he wasn't even visible due to the camouflage effect.
"The poison isn't taking effect," Klautz confirmed his suspicion.
In Hell, even poisons have ranks starting from rank E to A succeeded by S as well. The poison that Klautz used on the beast was too low ranked for it to take effect on the beast.
"I had planned to kill it slowly with the poison but now change of plans. Since the boost isn't active anymore I will just go back to the old way"
Klautz shifted his sight to Dant. They were panic-stricken due to Klautz immediate disappearance. They couldn't follow him with their eyes, their Agility stat being too low.
"Now will you kill one of your friends or stay put? I will not help you like last time even by mistake."
Klautz has a long way to go before he reaches a safe area. Even if this is the last stage, to risk his life even though he has better alternatives? That would certainly not be a wise choice.
"Roar!" The beast losing sight of its prey bellowed in anger. His roar alone made the group shake in fear. Klautz had done a lot of damage to the beast. The beast was so angry that it lost sight of everything as it charged towards the men instead of doing long-range attacks.
The beast ran on its two legs as it supported its body with its closed fists. It was an approaching terror for them.
Dant looked left and right as his shaking hands clutched the hilt of his sword.
"At this rate, all of us are going to die." Dant's eyes fell on Verona and Bret.
They already knew that their weapons are going to be useless. Their low strength stat coupled with their low ranked weapons made it impossible for them to pierce the beast.
What's more? This one can do long-range attacks so running away or dodging would be futile. With their low Agility stats would they be even able to run away?
