Chapter 72: Slash and hase

"Guy get me out of here!" the man stuck in the worm's teeth shouted.
"Yeah, as soon as I get rid of this pest," his friend said as he swung his axe towards the man-sized worm. A frown was visible on his face. He was already having quite a bit of trouble with the one he was dealing with so much so that it wouldn't be an understatement to say that he was putting his life on the line.
Not only him, but all of his friends were also struggling against the so-called small worms. They were small only in comparison to the death-worm while in reality they were man-sized.
'It's the same' That was the only thought that came to Klautz mind. The scene in front of him was strikingly similar to the time he had fought with this beast in his previous life. Even then the beast had swallowed a woman alive.
Klautz's vision blurred. It was as if the world around him had stopped. He was having hallucinations of those memories so much so that he saw that woman being eaten alive instead of the man who was trapped in its jaws.
*Screams*
The screams brought Klautz out of his dazed state. Klautz shook his head fervently. Bit by bit his hallucinations disappeared. But the turmoil of emotions in his heart didn't seem to cease.
Klautz lips parted only to be closed shut again, He didn't have words to describe the state he was in. He was dangling between reluctance and despair.
Klautz had been powerless back then, he was just an archer. But in this life will it be the same? The trial of control... satan's cradle... his training as a ninja... a lot of things were different than before. Klautz wasn't the same as before. If this wasn't the time to wipe away those bad memories of his then when will it be?
"Dammit! I don't know why I am so compelled to do this!"
He tossed his crude spear to the side and then he never looked back.
*clang*
He made a run towards the beast all the while manifesting Tosias's Demonic Spirit into a sword. He lept in the air as soon as he got closer.
The beast had already sunk its steel-like teeth into the man's arm. The man had the most pained expression one might have ever seen. His nose was bleeding and his eyes were teary. It was indeed interesting to see how intense pain could break a man to such a degree.
The beast's teeth… they were the strongest part of the beast's body. Klautz didn't dare think that he could shatter them with his strength alone. Therefore...
*swish*
With a swing of his blade, he cut off the man's arm. With him not being bound to the beast anymore, he fell to the concrete floor with a thud. Thanks to Satan's systems he didn't break any bones. His defense stat was enough to prevent that. But that doesn't mean the man wasn't in pain...
"AH!" The man screamed at the top of his voice. Blood gushing out from his injured missing arm like a fountain.
"Stop that blood with something if you don't want to die!" Klautz shouted. Since Klautz had decided to save the man to satisfy his own ego anyway, he wanted the man to survive this battle to the end.
The man who was screaming till now was left incoherent with Klautz's bolt of words. He held back both his tears and his screams but he couldn't stop his sniffing nose. The pain he felt was incomparable to anything else.
Yet he just nodded.
He stepped back as he went behind the shielders who were defending the archers.
The others didn't miss the opportunity to turn towards them and witness the man's miserable state. With no left hand he moped towards the archers in hope of safety. They gulped as they recalled that it could very much be them instead of him to turn into prey.
Meanwhile, Klautz had no idea why he took such a ruthless step and exposed himself to so much danger. It was not like him to do this. But something inside of him compelled him to do so. It was a feeling that wouldn't let him settle in peace.
"Screech!" The beast screamed in anger as its prey got stolen from him.
With everyone else fighting against the man-sized worms. Klautz was the only one to catch the attention of this death worm. The archers however were still shooting arrows at it from a distance.
"Tsk, this is why one should have never butted in" he clicked his tongue followed by his soliloquy in a sharp tone.
The beast who didn't understand Klautz language squirmed as it crawled towards Klautz destroying everything that came in its way. The concrete ground turned into a dried-up river/channel as the worm hollowed the ground wherever it went. Its weight alone was enough to crush the concrete beneath it.
But it was no faster than Klautz. Not to mention that the poison in its body had made it sluggish.
*swish*
Klautz jabbed his sword into the beast.
"Screech!" the beast roared as it got angrier and angrier which was part of Klautz's objective.
Klautz taunted the beast.
"Come here you fucking beast!"
How much sane were Klautz actions? Probably not much as the beast had no eyes to watch his taunts. Klautz had gotten pissed, part of which was his anger which was directed to himself.
But Klautz loud curses did the trick as the beast followed after him destroying everything that came in its way. Whether it be the floor or the tall and sturdy walls. The ruins weren't even a ruin anymore. With its walls destroyed it was all just dust and debris.
