Chapter 75: Portal failure

Little by little all of them walked in Bill's footsteps towards the majestic portal that reached the sky.
"Klautz aren't we going to follow them?" Selena asked tilting her head to the side all the while poking her cheeks.
'Cute'
He was expecting her to ask something like this. But his lips arched into a devilish smile. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her towards himself.
"Kya"
Her long black hair fluttered as she found herself on Klautz chest, his smell drifting into her nostrils.
"I am staying back for the bonus stage, you can go with them if you want," he smirked. But Selena's pupils shook in suspicion. Selena knew that whenever he smirked at her, it had always followed with either trouble or pleasure.
She stared in his eyes and went silent for a moment.
*Gulp*
Selena was no fool. She understood the hidden meaning behind Klautz words.
"No, I will stay behind and participate with you in the bonus stage!" She spoke so fast that her voice spluttered.
"Is that so? Such a shame. Ha Ha." Klautz laughed out aloud.
Selena felt most secure when she was like this. Resting her head on Klautz's chest she closed her eyes as she bathed in his smell. How could she follow the others when Klautz was by her side? Even if all of them combined their strength they were not comparable to Klautz.
Meanwhile, Verona switched her eyes between Klautz and the portal. She gasped in surprise. Seeing him being lovey dovey with a girl caught her by surprise.
For some reason she couldn't imagine the cold and heartless Klautz to be someone's lover. She thought that he was alone just like her.
"Are they lovers?... Must be so"
But, that wasn't the thing Verona was concerned about. She was confused as to why Klautz wasn't using th portal like others. No matter how much time passed Klautz didn't seem to move from his place, let alone approach the portal.
"Does he plan to participate in the bonus stage?"
Klautz was the only one she knew amongst the group and therefore he was her last rope of hope if anything were to happen to her. Being alone in this world was always a big disadvantage. She couldn't even ask the others for help if she were to break down.
But participating in the bonus stage was impossible for her. That is why she found it difficult to follow in his footsteps. She felt conflicted. On one hand, she wanted to try to team up with him since the others had given her cold shoulders while on the other hand, she wants to leave this tutorial stage.
"This is so hard on me."
She clenched her fists as she walked towards the portal. She had made her decision.
Stepping on the portal a message popped up on her status screen.
[Foreign participant detected. Please use the portal of your own zone.]
Verona's eyes shot out wide as she saw the message. She was caught off guard cause she hadn't expected something like this. But, she knew better than anyone else what the meaning of those messages were. Her pupils shook as she sank more and more into desperation.
'Why?' She chose to question her bad fortune of all things. First abandoned by everyone and now this? Her body trembled as if in response to her desperation.
There were several safe zones in the tutorial area and Verona didn't belong to this one. Surviving the last stage back in her zone would have been impossible now that she had no teammates to rely on, so she chose to stay here. But what now?
Her shoulders drooped low as she gave up fighting with her fate. How was she to know that the portals were exclusive to the zone members?
"Hmm"
Klautz who watched Verona from a distance frowned. She just stood on the portal with the mauve light passing through her body yet she was not teleported. Neither had Klautz heard nor seen anything like this before! Even his past life knowledge was of no use.
"Why isn't she being teleported?"
His knowledge wasn't omnipotent. In the vast world called Hell, it shouldn't become off as a surprise if he didn't know of certain things.
Klautz wanted to check but decided otherwise, as there would have been no importance in regards to the obtained information. He had already somewhat guessed the reason.
But Selena seemed to have different thoughts.
'Why is he only staring at that woman! This bastard!'
'I knew it! All men are the same.'
Selena clenched her fists. She needs to make her mark… and erase the presence of that woman from Klautz's mind.
She slipped her hands grazing it through Klautz chest… abdomen and finally finding his crotch. He didn't let it go before she gave it a little squeeze and caressed it as if it was the most precious thing to her.
Klautz raised his brows at her touch. Even his member reacted as it got hard.
"What are you doing?"
"Huff! Making you realize your place!" Selena couldn't help but spurt out. Even if she didn't want to give away her jealousy she couldn't help it. That's how angry she was.
But Klautz was clueless as to what she meant. Klautz opened his mouth all the while enjoying her soft hands but before he could say anything...
[Five minutes have passed.]
[No more quitters will be accepted beyond this point]
The viridescent light that came off from the concentric circles of the pedestal lost its glow.
Only four of them had left behind. Klautz, Selena, Verona and Steve. What will become of them? Only time could say.
[Satan loves your gut]
[Participants who left behind will be transported to the bonus stage]
A yellow light emerged from their status screens as they wrapped the four into nothingness.
