Chapter 35: CHAPTER XIII -- THE FIRST STEP TO THE FIELD

Five days have passed since Dolly and Tamamo arrived. Today is the day to plant seeds in the forest space. It's a nice change of pace for me, since I've been feeling a little down lately from the daily raids on the undead nests.

"Dolly. I'm going to plant some seeds, is there anything I should be aware of?"

"As long as you keep the trees spaced apart, you should be fine. Show the seeds to the tamamos and they will tell you where to plant them.

"Is that so? Come on, Tamamo.

"Coo!"

Mm. That's a strong answer. Sounds promising.

"Okay, Belle. Rain. Tulle. You heard him. Your job today is to show the seeds to Tamamo and plant them where he tells you to plant them. Let's go for it."

"I'll do my best."

"Cue cue."

"I'll do my best."

Everyone is full of energy. By the way, the Great Spirits are on a field trip. They want the kids to do their best on their own. I felt like I was one of them, but I let it pass with an open mind. There is no need for tactless anger on a green day.

Let's get started. First, I take out the packet of seeds and spread it in front of Tamamo. Tamamo is eagerly checking the seeds and checking the space. Are you thinking about what to plant where?

Bell. Lane. Tulu is looking at the seeds from behind Tamamo's back and nodding his head, but I wonder if he knows what he's doing. All I know is that there are seeds of all sizes.

"Coo!"

"Oh. Are we done?"

Tamamo nodded, so we decided to give it a try. I pick up one of the seeds and show it to Tamamo, who runs and taps her paws on the soil.

......Something unusual to see. Belle, Rain, Tulu, Tamamo, they all fly in the air when they move, so this might be the first time I saw them moving normally on the ground.

No, when Tulu was messing around in the dirt, was he walking? I don't recall because I didn't pay attention to how they moved. I wonder how it was? I'm subtly curious.

"Cu."

"Oh, sorry, Tamamo. You're going to plant it there."

I was thinking about it, and Tamamo urged me to do it. I dig a hole with a small shovel. Put the seed in and cover it lightly with soil.

"Looks about right. Can you guys do it?"

I'd ask, but it's so easy, it shouldn't be a problem. The only problem is that there are a lot of seeds, so it might take a while.

I can do it.

"Cue cue."

I can do it.

"Okay. Let's begin."

Bells and whistles rush to the tamamos with seeds in their hands. This must be the hardest part for the tamamos.

"Look. You guys. There's only one tamamo, so take your turn. We've got time, so let's take it easy."

When I call out to them, they decide on their turn and ask Tamamo to show them the way. They are good kids.

As I watch them, I see how dexterously they plant seeds. Belle cuts away the soil with the wind and puts the seeds back in. Rain pushes a swirl of water against the ground, cutting the soil and making a hole. It looks like a drill. Tulu is the spirit of the soil. A hole appears to open on its own, and when a seed is put into the hole, the soil appears to return on its own.

I should plant some seeds too. I think they used to grow seeds in another place and replant them in the ground in Japan, but I don't know if that's possible .......

I don't think the other place is much different from this place to begin with. I guess they can do it because of their facilities. I'll just have to rely on the spirits.

Ugh. My back is stiff. My body is supposed to be stronger with the level-up, but it seems I'm still not at the right level yet. We took a break in between, but it took us until well past noon to finish what we started in the morning.

Belle and the others seemed to be enjoying their work from start to finish. Come to think of it, I wonder what kind of physical strength the spirits have? At least half a day of gardening? I can't say for sure.

"Whew, I'm done!"

As I announced the end of my work, Tamamo flew over to me and started cooing and cooing. What is it? Rain is in the direction Tamamo is pointing.

"He wants you to give him some water!"

"Oh, yeah. Thank you, Belle. Rain, ask Tamamo to water them.

"Cue."

He nodded and did as Tamamo instructed, launching a ball of water from the fountain. A fox giving instructions to a dolphin. It's a rare sight, isn't it?

"Good work, Yuta. That looked like a lot of work.

"Yes, it is. It would have been faster and easier if Sylphy and the others had helped us.

"Ha-ha-ha. If you want to move the Great Spirit without a contract, you have to think a little more about what you're doing.

Well, yes, but it's also embarrassing to ask for something you can do on your own with such a blatant exchange.

"I'll see if I can find a way to do it without embarrassment."

I look forward to hearing how you do it. Oh, by the way, we can make the fields grow a little, can't we? Are you going to try it later?"

"Yes. But I'll check again first. Hey, Dory. I'm thinking of having the tamamo magic work on the vegetables in the field, is that okay?"

"Yes, I don't think it will be a problem. But, as I said before, do not let them grow too fast so as not to rob the soil of its strength, but a little bit every day.

I'm tempted to let them grow all at once, but it would be hard if the soil dies.

"Tamamo knows what he's doing, and Tulu is with him. Nomos will get angry if we do anything strange.

"Hmm. Don't worry. If you do something stupid under the circumstances, I'll leave you alone and not get angry.

That's tougher. You've been doing a lot of work on the soil behind my back, and I can't betray you.

"We can't let them leave us behind. I'll ask Tamamo to be more careful.

"If I can get Tulu to tell him, it won't be a problem."

I see. If the spirit of the earth and the spirit of the forest decide, it's okay for both of them.

I agree. I'll ask Tulu to do it.

"Yuta. I'm done."

You've finished watering while we were talking. Next stop, the fields.

"Belle. Thank you for letting me know.

I hold Belle in my arms as she jumps into the water and heads for Rain and the others. Belle seemed to remember where she had planted her seeds and told me where and what kind of seeds she had planted. That's amazing. I don't remember where I planted anything at all.

"Thank you, guys. I have one more job in the field, is that okay?"

He cheerfully said yes, and we headed out to the field.

"I need you to enchant the tamamos, but I don't want them to grow too fast for the soil, so I need you to talk to Tulu and see if you can enchant them for me."

"Coo."

"I'll tell you what."

After the two of them cooed and cooed at each other, he turned to look at me.

"If you've decided, you can start.

The vegetable glowed dimly and a third leaf sprouted from the middle of the two leaves.

"Oh! That's great, Tamamo. Now we're one step closer to having vegetables on the table. Thank you."

"Coo!"

He responded cheerfully, so I patted him on the head. Belle, Rain, and Tulu have also gathered around, and I pet them. Lately, I feel that I am happiest when I am petting a child, a dolphin, and a fox cub.

At this rate, I'm going to start to feel like a father even though I don't have a wife. Now that I'm in another world, I'd like to have a few beautiful wives, if not a harem, but until then, will I be able to keep this paternal feeling in check?

I am happy with my children's happiness. I can see him saying, "Their happiness is my happiness. I'll do some research on whether bigamy is possible in this world, and try to be strong. It's too early to wither away. I'm ambitious.

"Queue?"

Oops, I guess I stopped stroking. Rain's looking at me like it's the end. Of course I won't stop.

I'm not going to stop you, of course.

After stroking Bell and the others, I finished dinner and called Nomos to tell him I had something important to tell him.

"What's so important? What's going on?"

"Yeah, I want to talk about the nightlife of this world."

"......What are you suddenly saying with a serious face? Are you all right? There are no churches in the land of the dead, so you can't even cure them, can you?"

Come to think of it, the church has a monopoly on healing magic. Even if they don't have a monopoly, there's no one in the land of the dead, so it's impossible to heal them anyway.

"No. I'm serious. I've been feeling a little bit like your father lately. I need to spark some male desire, or I'm in a lot of trouble."

"What's that? And you're going to let a great spirit of the earth talk about manners and customs?"

"That's not what I meant. Do you think there's anyone else besides Nomos who can listen? Sylphy. DEANE. What would happen to me if I asked Dolly?"

No, well, that's true. Hmm. I can't help it. But I only know by hearsay. Is that all right?

This is it. I just need to know what kind of place it is."

I don't think the Great Spirits of the Earth go to the s*x trade.

"I've heard that in the capital and the towns where adventurers gather, there are more s*x services. As I recall, there are many high-class establishments in King's Landing. The towns where adventurers gather are well paid and there are many people who have too much money and there are districts where brothels gather.

There are adventurers after all. And there are places like brothels ...... to worry about. You don't seem to know the details of the brothel, should we ask the race? No, let's save the race for when we get to town. But I have to ask you this.

"Hey, Nomos. Are there succubus in this world?"

Hm? I believe there is a race of succubus among the demons.

Good. I don't know if we'll ever meet a succubus, but if there are succubus, I'd like to make it one of my goals to meet one.

"Demons. ...... What kind of relationship do humans have with demons?"

"It's normal to have a relationship. Where there is strife, there is strife. Where they get along, they get along. That's all.

There is no hostility between the demon tribe and the human tribe? Well... there wouldn't be wars everywhere. I'm sure we'll meet a succubus if we try hard enough.

"Thank you Nomos. You've really got me fired up."

"Mm-hmm. But don't get too excited."

I'm not getting excited right now. Let's keep this spirit in our hearts and live life to the fullest now. Thank you, Nomos.
