Chapter 156

November.

The day to move to our new house was approaching.

After a few weeks of remodeling, my dad came back from checking the new house and gave a thumbs up.

My brother Seo-jun and my sister Seo-eun-hye sparkled their eyes.

“My studio?”

“It’s awesome!”

“I’m so curious.”

Seo-eun-hye had visited the house a few times during the construction, but Seo-jun was not allowed to go because it was too dangerous.

He was more excited by dad’s words.

“The furniture and electronics are all coming this week. We’ll install them and move our stuff next Monday.”

“Seo-jun, you have to pack your things too. We’ll move them while you’re at school, so you have to pack them carefully so you don’t lose anything.”

“Okay!”

We decided to donate or throw away the furniture and electronics that we didn’t need.

We had changed Seo-jun’s desk and bed as he grew up, but our furniture had been with us for a long time.

We didn’t mind spending money on our kids, but we hesitated to buy new things for ourselves.

Seeing mom and dad wondering whether to take their old furniture with them, Seo-jun said with a pout.

“I’ll buy them! Mom and dad’s stuff!”

The investor of Cocoa Entertainment and Monster Company, the Hollywood superstar, said.

Showing his bank account, Seo-jun convinced his parents to buy everything new.

New furniture and electronics. Both my dad and mom were excited to choose them.

“This one is supposed to be durable.”

“This one looks pretty sturdy, right? Should we go with this one?”

Their criteria for choosing were the same as always.

Seo-jun and our parents started packing. Seo-jun took care of his own stuff.

He folded his clothes neatly and put them in the prepared boxes.

He had donated or given away his outgrown clothes, so he didn’t have any clothes to throw away, but he still had a lot of clothes that his acquaintances had given him as gifts.

“Nara auntie gave me the most clothes.”

Seo-jun put a neat navy shirt in the box with a subtle look.

It was winter clothes, so they took up a lot of space. It seemed like it would take some time to unpack them from the boxes and organize them in the closet.

Next were the Monster Company’s dolls.

“This is the oldest one.”

Seo-jun lifted up a faded blue slime doll.

It was the slime doll that Uncle Hee-sang had brought in the first box of dolls.

It was fluffy and soft, so he used to squish it with his belly when he started crawling. It was also fun to touch it with both hands on his stomach.

Now it was flat because the stuffing was dead, but the memories were still there.

“This is the Lich King.”

The Lich King, who had scared the kids, still had his green eyes glowing.

“There are a lot of dragons too.”

Red, blue, yellow, black, etc.

There were scary dragon dolls in various colors.

There were also many other monster dolls. Doppelganger bear doll, Twin-head ogre, Troll, Orc, Werewolf, Griffin, etc.

“I haven’t played with them much lately.”

The most he did was play with them with Su-bin and Eun-soo. Su-bin and Eun-soo both liked monster dolls, so it was fun to play with them. He remembered the two siblings screaming with joy and smiled.

Now he wouldn’t forget ‘me’ even without the dolls.

Seo-jun still liked monster dolls and monster-shaped accessories, but that was just his taste.

“But I’ll miss them if they’re gone.”

Seo-jun looked at the dolls and boxes for a moment and then started putting them in carefully like fitting blocks.

He didn’t want to leave any of the dolls that had memories in them.

After taking care of the dolls, he moved on to accessories like hats, belts, badges. This side was small in volume, so he could pack them quickly.

“This is a big deal…”

Something he didn’t want to lose as much as the dolls.

The scripts and DVDs on the bookshelf.

He quickly packed the scripts and DVDs of the works he had starred in, but there were still a lot left.

He looked at the scripts piled up on the bookshelf and braced himself.

“Ah. This was fun.”

He put the twentieth script in the box and looked at the title of the script in his hand with a smile.

He remembered the plot well, but it felt different when he read it again.

The script was for a historical movie that Kim Jong-ho starred in.

It was about King Jeongjo of Joseon Dynasty, and Uncle Jong-ho played the villain.

“Heh…”

Seo-jun sat on the floor and opened the first page of the script.

It was more fun to do something else than what he had to do, even for a superstar.

As he was reading the script, he heard his mom’s voice.

“Seo-jun, did you pack everything?”

“Ah, I packed half of it!”

Seo-jun came to his senses and quickly put the script he was reading in the box.

I was packing right now.

“You have to pack everything you need to take. Put your clothes in the box and pack your scripts well.”

“Okay.”

Seo-jun got up and put the scripts in the box.

And not long after, he started reading the script of an independent film made by director Ryan Will.

Seo-eun-hye, who was curious about Seo-jun’s quiet room, laughed at the sight of Seo-jun focusing on the script.

Day by day, Seo-jun and our parents cleaned up the house that we had grown attached to.

“I bought some bubble wrap.”

“Then let’s pack the trophies and frames.”

Seo-jun and our parents wrapped the WTV Film Festival, KBC Newcomer Award, Academy Award, Golden Globe Award trophies in bubble wrap and put them in a box.

And they wrapped the frames with pictures of our family, actors, friends, and acquaintances in bubble wrap and put them in a box.

We were going to move them ourselves, not on a moving truck.

“We bought a new cabinet for the trophies too. It’ll look great when we put them up. Right?”

“Yeah!”

“Let’s invite everyone over for dinner the day after tomorrow.”

“Let’s do that.”

Seo-jun and my dad nodded at mom’s suggestion. They sent a message on Banana Talk and everyone happily made time for us.

The day before we moved, Sunday evening.

One by one, they arrived at Seo-jun’s house.

The kids who remembered Seo-jun’s house with monster dolls and glittering trophies were shocked by the empty living room.

“…You’re really leaving.”

The kids finally realized that Seo-jun was really moving away, and tears welled up in their eyes.

“You’ll still go to school, right?”

Seo-jun quickly said to his friends who looked like they were about to cry.

It was an awkward time to transfer schools, so he planned to attend Mesil Elementary School until the graduation ceremony.

He would have to take a car, unlike before when he walked to school.

“But still…”

But they wouldn’t be able to walk to and from school together or play at each other’s houses until late at night like they used to.

Seo-jun comforted his gloomy friends.

Unlike the kids, the parents were talking happily.

“It’s good that you’re going to a bigger place.”

“I heard that Yeoul Middle School is a good school.”

The last dinner at Seo-jun’s house was lively like a feast.

Ji-yoon’s parents, Mi-na’s parents, Ji-o and Ji-hoo’s parents.

They had known each other for ten years already.

‘We kept in touch even when we were in America, so we can keep in touch from now on.’

Seo-eun-hye and Lee Min-joon were so glad that these friends didn’t change even when Seo-jun became famous.

“I don’t know how grateful I was back then. Ji-yoon wouldn’t eat…”

“Seo-jun’s mukbang was the cure.”

From very old stories to ones from just a few days ago. The old neighbors’ trip down memory lane lasted all night.

After the noisy dinner, the friends all went home.

The house that was full of people looked much bigger and lonelier as they left.

“This is the last time in this house too.”

“Yeah.”

Seo-jun’s house sold quickly.

The elementary school was close by, so there was already a lot of demand, but it became even more popular as Seo-jun attended and became famous.

Mesil Elementary School was close by, so someone bought it soon.

Seo-jun and his parents looked around the house after finishing the cleanup.

Seo-eun-hye and Lee Min-joon had rented this house when they first moved in.

They also took out a loan. But they were so happy to have their own house.

Soon they became three and were happier.

They cried with joy when they heard the pregnancy news, and they were startled by the contractions they felt while sitting on the sofa watching TV.

They laughed with Seo-jun, who smiled and giggled, ate and slept.

This house was full of happy memories.

Seo-eun-hye and Lee Min-joon’s eyes became misty.

“We filmed a mukbang here…”

The mukbang that their son filmed without much thought had a huge impact on their family.

They paid off their loan and bought a house for rent.

Seo-jun also remembered that time.

The influence of his top-tier ability was terrifying.

Even now, Seo-jun’s mukbang had a lot of influence around the world.

“We also filmed 48 hours here.”

He cried because he was jealous of Brown Black hyungs.

‘I was so young then.’

Seo-jun chuckled.

“I went to kindergarten and elementary school…”

The inside of the house was full of memories of Seo-jun and his parents.

Lee Min-joon, who shed a tear, opened his mouth.

“Should we have not sold the house?”

“We’re not going to live here forever.”

“Well, that’s true, but I’m just sad.”

“It’s okay. We have lots of photos and videos.”

“Right. Dad. We can make lots of memories in our new house too.”

Seo-eun-hye nodded at Seo-jun’s words.

Somehow, their son seemed smarter than his dad. But both Seo-jun and Seo-eun-hye had sadness in their eyes as they said that.

“Should we all sleep in the living room today?”

“Yeah. I like it.”

Seo-jun raised his hand at his dad’s cool suggestion.

“Me too.”

With Seo-eun-hye’s agreement, Lee Min-joon and Seo-jun quickly brought out the blankets that they hadn’t packed yet. Seo-jun and his parents laid out the blankets in the living room and got ready for bed.

They covered themselves with cozy blankets and lay down.

The wall of the darkened living room glowed faintly with the glow-in-the-dark stickers that they had put up for baby Seo-jun.

They remembered all kinds of memories from just one thing.

Seo-eun-hye and Lee Min-joon opened their mouths with emotion.

“Let’s live happily in our new house too.”

“Tell us if you have any problems.”

“Okay!”

The parents smiled at Seo-jun’s strong answer.

‘We have to make lots of happy memories in our new house too.’

That was the last night in their first house full of memories.

The next morning.

After finishing the last packing, Seo-jun decided to go to Cocoa Entertainment with Anda-ho as soon as school was over.

“Do you need my help?”

Seo-eun-hye and Lee Min-joon laughed at Seo-jun’s words.

If Seo-jun showed up, the movers would be surprised.

They might have an accident if they were distracted by Seo-jun.

“The uncles will only move the stuff, so we have to do the cleaning. There will be a lot of cleaning to do when we get back, so you can help us then.”

The house would be clean with the pre-move-in cleaning service, but moving the stuff would make even the cleanest new house dusty again.

Seo-jun nodded his head at Seo-eun-hye’s words.

He saw his mom and dad talking about moving things around and thought.

He had a lot to do when he got to his new house.

He had engraved various abilities in the house while he lived here.

From small things like preventing bugs to big things like preventing accidents.

‘I’ll have to put them in one by one again.’

He felt like a new door of the Library of Life would open soon.

The doors of the lower and middle levels were always open, but this time it seemed like a higher level door would open.

‘This time, I’ll be able to put in more powerful abilities. Of course, it won’t be done in a day or two.’

Seo-jun thought as he looked at the house he had to leave.

The symbols that only Seo-jun could see were still drawn all over the house.

‘Anyway, they’ll disappear if I don’t supply mana…’

Seo-jun decided to leave the symbols alone.

The person who moved into Seo-jun’s house would be able to live more comfortably than other houses for a few weeks.

“Seo-jun, let’s go to school now.”

“Okay!”

At Seo-eun-hye’s call, Seo-jun said goodbye to the house for the last time.

“Bye. Our house.”
