Chapter 164

After the graduation ceremony, Seo-jun enjoyed a long winter break until the entrance ceremony of Yeoul Art School in March.

He was able to film even on weekdays.

“Are you okay with filming during winter break?”

“Yes! Filming is so much fun!”

Andaho, who was driving, smiled at Seo-jun’s excited voice.

Seo-jun looked out the window.

Today, there were many scenes with extras, so the parking lot of the filming site was bustling.

“Seo-jun is here.”

The staff of The Reversal stirred at Seo-jun’s arrival.

Lee Seo-jun and his manager entered through the entrance of the filming site.

The staff, who were smiling brightly, handed flowers to Seo-jun.

It was a graduation celebration event that they had prepared themselves.

Each flower that bloomed brightly gathered and filled Seo-jun’s arms.

It became a huge bouquet.

“Seo-jun, congratulations on your graduation!”

“Actor Lee Seo-jun, congratulations!”

He had heard a lot of congratulatory messages from his family, friends, and fans, and now he heard a lot from the staff as well.

The boy with the flowers, Seo-jun, smiled brightly at the sincere congratulations.

“Thank you!”

Ugh!

The staff were hit hard by the effect of the bouquet.

They clutched their hearts at Seo-jun’s sparkling face.

Seo-jun laughed out loud at their intense reaction.

The staff looked at the friendly star actor, and the extras who were rolling their eyes and looking around also congratulated him as they passed by.

Seo-jun smiled brightly and thanked them.

Park Woon-yeol and Kim Ho-young, who had arrived earlier, handed Seo-jun a flower that the staff had given them.

Seo-jun laughed out loud and carefully put the bouquet aside.

The noisy celebration ended and the filming began.

Director Woo Jung-han shouted.

“Ready, action!”

“Your Majesty, please come in!”

With a loud cry, Lee Hong-wi walked into the royal tent.

The courtiers bowed their heads in unison.

He was afraid of the heavy atmosphere of the royal tent, but Lee Hong-wi held his head high.

He had to lead the country with these people now.

He hid his trembling hand by clenching it into a fist and Lee Hong-wi climbed up to the platform.

When he climbed up to the platform, he could see the ministers better.

In the closest place, among the ministers, he saw Kim Jong-seo’s familiar face and sighed with relief.

He sat down on the throne.

The ministers raised their heads.

They all sighed inwardly at the sight of the young king who seemed to be crushed by the huge throne.

There were no naive courtiers who showed their feelings on their faces.

They all hid their hearts and did their jobs.

“We need to set up a temporary office for the funeral.”

The first thing Lee Hong-wi had to do was King Munjong’s funeral.

A temporary office was set up to lead King Munjong’s funeral and officials were appointed to take charge of it.

“Please appoint Yun Sa-ro as the chief officer of the temporary office.”

When someone raised an issue, Samjeongseung gave an answer.

He asked Lee Hong-wi as well, but Lee Hong-wi, who did not understand it deeply, could only nod his head.

He didn’t know who Yun Sa-ro was, but he knew that a person in charge of the temporary office was needed.

‘If it’s someone recommended by Left Prime Minister, it should be fine.’

Lee Hong-wi’s eyes turned to Kim Jong-seo as he listened to the ministers’ talk.

The discussion of the ministers continued. Lee Hong-wi listened hard and his shoulders drooped slightly.

The country’s problems were as difficult as he expected, and the solutions were harder than he expected.

Lee Hong-wi swallowed a sigh that seemed to come out.

He knew the cause and the answer, but that answer was from a book.

Lee Hong-wi knew very well that in reality, the desired answer was different from that in a book.

Lee Hong-wi looked down at his feet from his high position where he looked down at the ministers.

He felt like water was moving at his feet.

The black water that stayed at his toes slowly rose up to his ankles.

Lee Hong-wi thought.

This water was a burden that felt like an illusion.

How could he get rid of this cold water, this burden?

Lee Hong-wi remembered what his grandfather and grandmother had said.

‘Learn.’

Lee Hong-wi’s eyes sparkled as he looked down at the ministers.

‘Learn and learn again.’

He wanted to be a great king.

He wanted to be a benevolent parent of his people.

Like his grandfather and grandmother who were excellent.

Lee Hong-wi straightened his shoulders that were going down with disappointment in himself.

He straightened his posture and listened to the ministers’ talk.

‘I’ll remember this well and ask Left Prime Minister or other ministers later.’

A few people who noticed the change in Lee Hong-wi’s mood watched him quietly.

***

The filming of The Reversal went smoothly.

Today’s filming was scheduled to film scenes with Seo-jun and Kim Ho-young in the morning, and scenes with Lee Ji-seok in the afternoon.

It was the first time that Prince Suyang and King Danjong filmed a scene together.

“Ready, action!”

King Danjong, who was sitting on the throne, unfolded the royal letter.

The king’s figure, who slowly moved forward, made Kim Nae-gwan, who had served three kings, smile with satisfaction.

He was young, but he was a heavenly being to anyone who saw him.

He was a kind and gentle king.

Kim Nae-gwan quietly wiped away his tears of emotion and focused on the royal letter with King Danjong.

The camera screen was filled with the sight of Kim Nae-gwan and King Danjong.

Director Woo Jung-han shouted.

“Cut! Okay!”

At the sound of the cut, Seo-jun quickly got out of King Danjong, and Kim Ho-young slowly calmed his mind.

He felt warm when he saw Danjong working hard.

He looked like his daughter.

“Is this the end of the morning filming?”

Director Woo Jung-han answered Seo-jun’s question.

“Yes. There weren’t many NGs, so it ended quickly.”

“When will we start filming outside?”

As Seo-jun and Director Woo Jung-han talked, Kim Ho-young turned on his phone as usual at lunchtime.

“Oh…”

[Missed calls 5]

His heart sank. He had a bad feeling.

Kim Ho-young checked the missed calls.

The person who called him was Kim Ho-young’s daughter, Kim Ji-soo.

Kim Ho-young’s hand holding the phone trembled.

He called his daughter with a trembling hand.

He remembered his daughter who left in the morning, smiling brightly and saying that she was going to play with her friends.

“Ji-soo… Ji-soo…”

The staff who were talking about what to have for lunch looked at the actor who looked bad.

Seo-jun and Director Woo Jung-han also looked at Kim Ho-young.

He didn’t notice their eyes and clung to his phone.

After several attempts, someone answered the phone.

“Ji-soo!”

Kim Ho-young shouted loudly.

***

Two hours ago.

“Ji-soo!”

“You’re here already!”

Kim Ji-soo smiled brightly at her friends.

“Look at this. A picture of my dad and Lee Seo-jun.”

“Really! It’s Lee Seo-jun!”

Kim Ji-soo showed them her phone screen with Lee Seo-jun and Kim Ho-young on it.

Ji-soo and her friends laughed out loud.

“A new coin karaoke has opened here.”

“We have to go if it’s new!”

Ji-soo and her friends, who had conquered the neighborhood coin karaoke, stepped into the new coin karaoke.

The problem happened when they were singing their hearts out.

Eeeek!

The sound of the emergency bell drowned out the sound of the song and the microphone.

The children stopped moving in surprise.

A suffocating silence fell over the karaoke room.

The idol music and the emergency bell sound mixed together to create noise.

Kim Ji-soo was the first one to snap out of it among the frozen children.

[The memory of learning from the Moss tribe is activated.]

She remembered the public service video ‘One Step’ from the fire department as if she was playing a video.

She was influenced by the calmness of the children in the video.

Kim Ji-soo opened her mouth.

“Let’s get out of here first.”

“Okay!”

The children quickly left the room.

In the hallway, there were children who were confused and children who were calm.

It was a weekday morning, but there were quite a few children because it was winter break.

“First, we need to call 119…”

“I’m doing it!”

One of the children raised his hand and said.

He was holding his phone to his ear with one hand.

Ji-soo nodded her head.

“Then let’s go to the entrance.”

“If you have tissue or a handkerchief, wet it and cover your mouth.”

Even though they were strangers, some of the children stepped up and led the confused children.

They came out of their rooms with water bottles and wetted the children’s handkerchiefs, tissues, or sleeves.

‘And…and…’

Ji-soo remembered ‘One Step’ that she had watched with her dad.

She felt like she knew why the children in ‘One Step’ moved so hard.

She was scared.

But she wanted to see her dad more than being scared. She didn’t want to leave her dad alone.

She recalled Lee Seo-jun’s firm eyes in the public service video.

“There might be people who can’t get out of their rooms, so check them as you move.”

“If the doorknob is hot, don’t open it.”

The child who had called 119 followed Ji-soo’s words.

Eeeek!!

Ignoring the loud noise behind them, the children checked the empty rooms as they headed to the entrance.

It didn’t take long to check them as there were about ten children moving quickly.

“We can’t go this way.”

When they arrived at the entrance, they saw a sweaty part-time worker of the coin karaoke.

The part-time worker said with an anxious face.

“There’s a fire on the lower floor.”

The part-time worker checked the escape route as soon as he heard the emergency bell.

He wanted to evacuate the customers after confirming where the fire was.

“The smoke is coming up from below, so I don’t think we can go down using the entrance or the emergency exit.”

The only adult’s words made the children look uneasy.

Ji-soo thought.

‘Then do we have to go into a karaoke room like in ‘One Step’ and block the gaps and wait?’

Which room should we go to? Ji-soo looked back.

[The memory of learning from the Moss tribe is activated.]

Sighing, he calmed his complicated mind and remembered the roof key that his boss had put in his drawer.

The building owner had locked it, but he copied one after watching ‘One Step’ last year.

The part-time worker quickly took out the key from his drawer.

“Let’s go to the roof. I have a roof key.”

“Yes!”

The adults moved aside when they saw Ji-soo holding up the key.

Ji-soo opened the roof door.

A cool breeze blew over to people who escaped from smoke. But soon they felt charcoal smell mixed in that wind.

When everyone got on the roof, someone said.

“The smoke might come up here, shouldn’t we close the door?”

Someone else’s words made children shout.

“The sister hasn’t come yet!”

“No!”

The children’s loud voices stopped any further words.

Black smoke that escaped through windows on fire rose up to sky. People who evacuated to roof moved away from smoke.

Someone called their families, someone called fire station. There were sounds of relief and desperate cries for help on roof.

Ji-soo and her friends also called their families on their phones and waited for part-time worker.

“Why isn’t she coming?”

“Yeah.”

They looked at stairs anxiously when they heard footsteps.

“Sister!”

It was part-time worker who covered her mouth with Ji-soo’s handkerchief.

She collapsed on floor exhausted. But there was a smile on her face.

“There was no one in bathroom.”

“That’s good!”

The children smiled brightly.

And in a few minutes, over loud emergency bell sound, over dark smoke, a loud sound came.

It was red fire truck that ran faster than flame to save everyone.
