The tornado banged into the side of the spaceship, causing it to fly into the ground. The impact and shockwave destroyed the east side of the settlement. The tornado would not be stopped. It kept charging through anything and everything. Any person or thing that got close was picked up and thrown. The storm lived up to its nickname, Death Winds.

The beastmen were not prepared for this natural disaster and lost several of their men. The spaceship was demolished, and most of the men throughout the area died. No matter how strong they were, nature was stronger than technology and man.

Unit 737 hid inside a substantial concrete building when the ship crashed. With the winds picking up, 737 stayed hidden. Sitting there, Unit 737 cursed this planet of Earth for losing so many men to something he couldn't even control.

As the tornado in the settlement wiped out the beastmen, Joe and Samantha were cruising through the rain southward. Looking backward, Samantha spotted two hovercrafts catching them in the distance.

"Joe we have two ships coming up behind us."

Joe was maxing out the craft's propulsion; he couldn't make it go any faster. Also, they were running out of fuel as they drove. The rebar from when Leo was pushing it, pierced the fuel tank.

Two blaster shots whizzed past the duo and blasted the ground to their left. "That was close," Joe said as he was trying to concentrate on driving. "Samantha there is a blaster strapped to the bottom of my wheelchair. Grab it and fire at those beastmen."

"I don't know how to shoot Joe."

"Girl just pull the trigger."

Samantha hugged the blaster and started returning fire at the hovercrafts. Even though she was missing each blast, this caused the two beastmen to swerve left and right slowing them down.

In the path Joe was heading, a cyclone of winds tunneled down from the sky. "Damnit, that must be a tornado." Joe jerked the ship to the left. This immediate left threw Samantha off balance, and she tumbled out of the craft. She hit the ground hard, knocking her unconscious.

"Samantha!" Looking back, Joe saw her fall out and was useless to save her. Joe tried to go back for her, and when he got close, the two beastmen's crafts blasted the right side of his and caused him to fly straight towards the tornado. The outer winds picked up Joe and the hovercraft and flung it into the distance.

Somehow the seat straps held Joe in and upon slamming into the ground he used the last of his fuel to counterbalance the fall with a thrust to land safely. At this point, the craft was destroyed, and Joe lost Samantha. He was disabled and stranded.

Sitting there in pity, he watched the tornado cut to his right and head west. Joe didn't know what to do. If he ever saw Leo again how could he tell him? Crying, Joe sat there in the rain never knowing if he would see the boy he loved like a son ever.

In Independence, a small group of 5 people and a beastman were still alive. Anna, four defense members, and Fog seemed to fight their way out of the chaos. The only problem was when the spaceship crashed, the ship blocked off their route to escape eastward.

"Human Anna, I think its best if we go north."

A defense member spoke up and disagreed. "Mam, I think its best we head south."

Looking north and south tornados were in sight. Either way, the 5 of them go, it would be risky. "We will head northeast. There is a settlement called New Kansas."

Staying in the building moving between them through alleyways. Fog tried to make sure they kept a low profile. Little did they know the Tornado north of them turned and started heading in their direction.

"Mam, the Death Winds are heading right for us."

"Get inside the building!" The building they ran into was an old brick home. The tornado ripped the roof off the building and two members with it. Fog trying to protect Anna grabbed her and clung onto the brick wall.

The winds ripped through the home. Anything that was not anchored down was sucked into the sky. "Fog save me." The guy, who recommended to go south, tried to reach out to fog, but the Death Winds got him too. Fog's claws were slipping and right before he lost grip the tornado disappeared.

Fog took a deep breath and relaxed. Fog looked at Anna, "Human Anna don't worry you are safe now."

"Pew." A plasma blast landed a direct hit in Fog's back. "Pew. Pew. Pew." Three more blasts drilled into him. Eyes wide, the bear variant beastman fell. Anna, in shock, screamed.

Three canine variants walked up. One of them said, "Human you are lucky. Since we lost a lot of men today, the boss told us to capture all the women." Smiling the beastman snatched up Anna and made his way to the designated area.

"Beastmen today nature has forsaken us. We shall rebuild our base here. Capture all female humans and beastmen. Kill everything else." A bleeding beastman announced. The beastmen surrounding the one announcing started to howl in agreement.

Unit 737 looked around as the rain poured down. He was tired of following orders. After thinking why Unit 786 abandoned his post and started his group, it began to make sense now. "Starting today I am no longer Unit 737, you shall address me as Deathclaw. I name myself after Death Winds that we survived today. For nature cannot even stop us."

"Deathclaw! Deathclaw! Deathclaw! "

This was the day, Deathclaw and the Death Winds destroyed Independence and created their own nation.
