266: Magierstadt's Betrayal

Ezekiel stared at his mother, dumbfounded on what he has found.

"What do you mean?" Ezekiel exclaimed as he faced her mother who was now walking into the hallway with higher mages, and the deans of Magierstadt.

"Mother, talk to me!"

He kept on chasing after her. After Ezekiel blacked out from the healing, he woke up in search for Faustina.

But he was welcomed with Lilianne Disfiegro… no, one of the warlock generals with his mother.

"The schoolmistress will not entertain you for a while, Ezekiel." One of the high mages, Professor Mariam Gustavos said. "She has important matters to attend to. Go now." The professor said coldly.

The professor stopped him from following his mother further, but Ezekiel did not stop right there.

"Are you in league with the forsaken?"

Professor Mariam was taken aback in a second. "You're pretty straightforward for a young man." She said with a smirk. "Very well."

Professor Mariam is the dean for the dark arts. She has always been the strict professor feared by many students, and not only because she was a terror teacher. She was powerful, and she dedicated her life studying the dark arts.

The dark arts are taught to students so that they would know the consequences upon using such type of magic. Nevertheless, black magic was still forbidden.

"Magierstadt is not in league with the forsaken." The professor cleared. "But I can't deny that we are not in a neutral position."

Ezekiel clenched his fist, knowing that the professor would not answer his questions any further.

--

The students of Magierstadt are guided back to their dorm, without any knowledge of what was happening around them. They knew that somehow, they were attacked by one of the warlock generals. The professors already announced that the situation has been cleared and all of the problems had been 'taken care of'.

But then, that does not mean the internal struggle has cleared. In fact, it was way worse than before.

And Leviticus could witness it now.

"The second continent planned to attack the first continent! Are you guys so unsatisfied that you lost the Great War?!" One of the students from the first continent said.

"We have nothing to do with this! And why would you tell something like that to mere students!" Retorted a student that belonged to the second continent.

Magierstadt, a place of harmony where Zuerstians and Zweitians could settle their differences had now become a place that divided them.

The whole academy reeked of it—and Leviticus could not stand it one bit. He has lost contact with his mother, for the second continent had a lockdown, voiding any means of communication.

"We don't even know if our family aren't being held by the forsaken!" Said by a girl that was from the second continent.

"How do we know you're telling the truth!"

"Liar!"

"You guys have infernal blood in you!"

"People from the second continent are demons!"

The girl started to cry as the argument heated up. The fire had been fueled, but the next thing was uncalled for.

One of the students from the first continent stepped up, holding his staff.

"We have to beat them up…!" He said. "I'm sure they're hiding something!"

"That's right!"

"How do we know that it's not YOU guys from the first continent who are hiding something?!"

Leviticus blinked. "Hey—!"

"Magierstadt is a place that should be safe for students."

The students, who are gathered in the Great Hall, slowly grew silent as they realize who came.

Walking towards them was Ezekiel Unsterblich.

"We should not resort to conflict. Hate is what fuels evil, we are mages. We are advocates of peace and harmony." He said. "That is what Magierstadt is. Don't forget that."

Leviticus watched as the students slowly regained their rationality, beginning to apologize to each other.

"He's good with that, huh?"

"Anakin,"

He was looking more worn – out than he di before.

"Ezekiel Unsterblich really is the schoolmistress' son. He was able to reunite the students with just his words." He said. "I am no match for him."

"Are you alright?" Leviticus asked.

"Yeah," Anakin answered. "I know sulking here won't be of help to Lilianne. I have to trust that they will be able to find her."

Leviticus patted Anakin's back.

"We're here for you, Anakin! I'm sure Lilianne will return safe."

Anakin smiled lightly.

"Thanks, Mich."

"Anakin Disfiegro."

An unexpected occurrence.

"Come with me,"

**

Ezekiel knew that the woman who walked alongside his mother was not his fiancé, but someone who was dangerous.

He had seen it with his very own eyes.

But, he knew very well that he could not disclose this on the students. Not of Magierstadt's alliance with the forsaken, or the fact that Lilianne Disfiegro was now the warlock general L.u.s.t.

He went to calm the trifle between the students; he knew that it was just a temporary solution. There was no guarantee that uncertainty and the blame game could not resurface again. Mere words would not be enough when time ticks.

It was only a matter of time before a similar conflict would occur yet again.

"Why did you call for me?"

He stared at Anakin, who looked as if he hadn't slept for days. It was understandable. His sister was missing.

"If I say I know where your sister is, what would you do?"

Anakin blinked. "What?"

"I need you to swore upon magic that you will not tell anyone of anything I am about to convey to you in here." Ezekiel said. "I need you as my eyes, ears, and someone I could rely on… in exchange of information."

Anakin narrowed his eyes.

"Swore upon it," Ezekiel then casted a magical circle upon the two of them.

"I, Anakin Disfiegro, swore upon the magic of my own, the magic of Ezekiel, and the elements of all magic that I will not speak of what I have learned to others."

Ezekiel then narrowed his eyes as he watches the pact bind to Anakin.

"Now… where is my sister?"

"Lilianne Disfiegro…" Ezekiel said, "is in here."

Anakin parted his lips to speak,

"She is possessed by L.u.s.t, one of the warlock generals."

"…What?"

"And," Ezekiel smiled bitterly.

"Magierstadt had betrayed your country, Feuersturm Empire."
