269: Broken Armistice

Many years have passed since the armistice was founded. Zuerst, upon winning the war, confiscated and banned many of Zweite's prized possessions and its most precious inheritance from the darkness.

Black magic.

Zweite was reduced in the shadows, where they lurked as the first continent prospered.

Jonathan Unsterblich—and the forsaken, in one body—had seen it all. The crippling poverty prevalent in Zweite, especially in Assiah.

"It pains me," said the Forsaken to the royals of Zweite who harbored elemental powers as well as hints of darkness in their blood. It was too faint, and only an entity such as the forsaken could sense it.

"It pains me to see how incapable you all are of taking care of your own continent," he said. "Zweite was once a prosperous haven abundant of resources. A magical reservoir."

The queen of Atziluth stepped up.

"Zweite has only a very limited source of elemental magic." She said. "Darkness from the warlock fossils that are within the depths of this land are s.u.c.k.i.n.g on all of the elemental forces existing within the continent. This is why most of the mages are sent to study to Magierstadt, including my son. How are you saying that we, as you have said, incapable—handle such disadvantage that is completely nature's course?"

"First of, I admire your bravery. As expected of the queen of Atziluth." The forsaken smirked. "But know that Zweite is indeed a reservoir of magic. OUR magic."

The queen of Atziluth scowled, visible confusion painted over her face.

"What he means is that,"

"Zweite has a reservoir for its original magic." He said. "Elemental magic belongs to Feuersturm."

He then lifted his hand, and suddenly dark magical beasts appeared one by one in the throne room of Assiah.

"Dark magic…" He exclaimed, looking back at the forsaken who had an amused look in his face.

"Belongs to Zweite."

The forsaken smiled.

"Prince of Assiah…" The queen of Atziluth murmured as the sixth prince of Assiah came forward to the forsaken.

He slightly bowed, hand at his c.h.e.s.t. The beasts followed him—exuding ominous presence at the hall.

"You practiced black magic on your own?" The forsaken smirked darkly, looking more amused than he had ever been.

"I noticed elemental magic do not fit anyone in here." He simply answered. "Pretending on something we are not… that's the greatest tragedy of all."

"Cerberus," the forsaken stood up, towards the prince of Assiah.

"The only one who can command him was the warlock of Assiah, one of my closest aide." The forsaken then eyed the prince.

"You are an exemplary Zweitian." He said with a path on the prince's shoulder.

The forsaken then redirected his gaze to the royal representatives of Zweite.

"Queen of Atziluth. King of Kabbalah, first princess of Beriah, third prince of Yetrizah."

The forsaken then propelled his hands forward.

A red magical circle then appeared on the floor, with hexes and ancient seals in them.

"This is the magical reservoir that was filled over a thousand years unused." He said.

The queen, and everyone else's eyes widened as they felt a strong presence of black magic.

"It was sealed by Zuerst after Zweite lost the war." The forsaken then clenched his fist, and then—with that, something shattered.

THUMP.

THUMP.

The princess of Beriah collapsed to her knees, the prince of Yetrizah staggered, while the king of Kabbalah held on to his heavy sword and panted.

The queen stood strong, but the sign of struggle was evident in her face.

But all of them had the same look in their face:

Being overwhelmed.

With power!

The prince of Assiah watched along with the forsaken as the reservoir, the container of all black magic which was sealed in Assiah along with the remains of the warlocks,

Have now been broken.

"Now," the forsaken exclaimed. "Everything will come back to its rightful place."

The sixth prince of Assiah stole a glance at the forsaken, narrowing his eyes.

"What will become of the armistice?"

The forsaken smirked.

"The armistice," he smiled as he watched the black magic engulfing the entire continent.

"was long broken, even from the start."

**

The resurgence of black magic that was stored for a thousand years rendered the entirety of the world plagued with its overwhelming presence.

The monsters that slumbered for a thousand of years in the dark ocean were woken, and had now risen from the sea. They towered over the mountains and attacked all that contained elemental magic, leaving a trail of destruction in their path.

The entities that rested in the continental cliff, those who harbored the deepest darkness, were now given the power to rise and wreak havoc to the lands.

The world, in just a flick of a hand…

Was now a home for plague and chaos.

Sheilalev watched from her clairvoyant vision the deaths that increased in terrifying amounts, and how the world was coming to be.

The clairvoyants surrounded her, giving her more power to foresee the future.

The servants of light silently drew away as the abyss seeped through the world, with no sun nor the blue skies to be seen. The massive amount of black magic rendered all their power useless.

Sheila collapsed to her knees; beads of sweat dripping across her forehead.

Flashes of the future flooded through her.

Plague,

Destruction,

Sheila collapsed to the floor, panting.

"What did you see, priestess?"

The clairvoyants now came to aid her, helping her back to her feet.

"I saw…"

Sheila felt fear.

A fear that was greater than her own.

"The prophecy."
