Shawn's eyes widened in horror when he heard Old Man Skull's suggestion for Denise to stay at Lee's mansion instead.
He quickly responded, "NO!"
Old Man Skull and Denise was startled with his word and high angry tone.
'Why does he looks so serious and furious. Old Man Skull's suggestion is not that bad.' she thought silently as she looked at Shawn with her confused expression.
"Why? I want to stay here if you can't stay in our house instead. I don't see the point of your objection at all..." Denise murmured. She was to keep Shawn safe as much as she could.
"No, you cannot stay here! You've been here for everyday for more than ten hours a day. Are you trying to suffocate me with your presence even before the wedding takes place? I don't think I can handle you anymore than this, in this house of mine!" Shawn said furiously and pulled out Denise from her chair going outside.
"Let me breathe some air," Shawn said irritably as he passed by Old Man Skull's seat and the latter arched an eyebrow but nodded.
"What's going on Shawn? That mad psycho man almost agreed for me to stay here beside you… Why did you say NO?" Denise asked in her low tone with an irritated look.
"No… I don't want you to stay here. I can't allow you to live in the clutches of this dangerous man. You're safer that way…" Shawn murmured, he was embarrassed these past few days, frustrated with the feeling that Denise was dragged in this dangerous fight that was going on between Old Man Skull and the Kens.
"Please stop it right here Den… Being with me during this phase of mine and spending almost all your time with me is more than enough. I am already very grateful for your presence in my life in this dark time. Please don't talk about staying inside this devil's house. At any moment that mad man might go crazy and it's not safe for both you and me to stay here like this." Shawn added wearily.
Denise bit her lips, she did not want to witness this helpless and depressed aura of Shawn, she could sense that he was trying to send her away… there was more than to what he was saying in words, she understood him clearly.
The fear he felt, was the same fear she had and this was why she wanted to be with him 24 hours of the day…
"No, I'll stick by your side you dummy! Even if it's dangerous then we would better be in danger zone together. I will stick at you like a leech, and I will never abandon you so deal with it!!!" She exclaimed irritably and hugged Shawn unconsciously as tears started to well up in her eyes.
"But my heart is unease every time you are with me Denise, because of too much worry. Sooner or later that mad man is going to be out of his mind because Ryu is now wiping him out of the picture at the underworld and has been succeeding in his plan very fast." Shawn added but then he noticed Old Man Skull from afar staring at them so he abruptly pushed Denise.
"He's looking…" he whispered which Denise understood so she moved to hug him once more.
"What are you doing?" Shawn frowned asked.
"Hug you again and again, and you keep pushing me away every time and give that mad dog a good show! Let's play for a while since I'm really irritated right now because of your denial and I want to be with you, really wish to hug to tightly and rest my head on your chest. If you ever oppose any of my suggestions again, then I'll make sure to punish you afterwards as soon as everything is settled! Geez I should be the one to push you away instead while you will try to hug me over and over again." She complained that made Shawn chuckle inside his heart.
He wanted to send her away for real but deep inside his heart he wanted Denise to stay…
He was afraid… afraid of not seeing her once more because he knew his life could end at any moment.
After all those forlorn years, he got a family, he got a wife and he wanted to live for the sake of his mother, father and for his wife. He wanted to be the elder brother for Ryu and Dean, wanted to be in the warmth of his family again and never wanted to leave.
