Only one car could drive off the laboratory gates this time. Just five shifters were in the more or less normal condition to accompany their Alpha back. Greg watched the figures of two more werewolves, who loaded the bodies of their fellows into the second car and then turned to Ian.
"Was it really worth it?" - He asked in a voice full of utter disgust. The man across from him looked up from his phone for a second. It was hard to read anything in his expression as if all the muscles had been frozen for a long time. Greg did not even expect an answer. But Ian surprised him by shrugging his shoulders and answering in a slightly weary voice.
"You might find it hard to understand, Greg. But some goals really justify the means. Your ideology is blind. You start to see the wrongdoings only when you are stuck in it with your nose. I am on the contrary well aware that there is no truth or righteousness in the world, there are just different points of view, that's all."
Greg silently peered at Mr. Winterbourne, trying to understand. For some reason, their conversation in a training hall made Greg overthink his view on this man. As if he felt something strange. Some thought flashed in the distance of his mind and then disappeared. But this surge did not let Greg calm down.
"I have only one question. - The guy spoke again, breaking the silence. Ian frowned, but looked at him, making it clear that he was listening. - "Did you come here knowing that Lana was poisoned?"
The face of the shifter instantly turned into a stone mask, but the speed with which he took control of his emotions, not allowing Greg to see anything, was already an answer on its own. He knew.
For some reason, this thought made Greg smirk. He did not ask anything more, turning away to the window. He was not even interested in where he was being taken. The main thing is that the tender piece of his heart that always belonged to Lana was warming him from the inside again. His beloved slept sweetly now, which means everything will be fine with her. And he can take care of himself somehow. His goal now was to return to his family, and for that, he would go to great lengths.

A couple of hours later, their car left the city and turned on a small road. Behind the high metal fence, opened a vast area. It was not until they got closer that Greg finally realized that they were at some private airport. A small plane was already waiting for them on the runway.
When the car stopped, two shifters who were there along with Ian and Greg hurried to get out. One of them helpfully held the door looking in expectation at Greg. But the guy turned to Ian.
Alpha looked up from his phone and even set it aside this time.
"You showed yourself to be a very pushy, nimble and annoying man, Greg." He said in a cold tone. - "Unfortunately, I can not kill you just like that. Lana will want revenge on me, and if I hurt her, I'll have to cut out my whole family. This will damage my image a little. Therefore, I have only one solution. Send you away. There your friends won't be able to find you so quickly. They will be busy searching, and I can finally calmly go about my business without your annoying buzzing. So be a good boy and behave yourself until you arrive at the place. And there you can do whatever you want. Just try not to die too fast. My guys will pick you up in 3-4 days. Sorry, but I have no time to see you off."
Greg raised his eyebrows in surprise, but Ian had already picked up the phone again, completely ignoring him, making it clear that the conversation was over. And though Greg was tempted to pique this icy man a little more, in his position, it was necessary to feel the border if he wanted to get back to Lana in one piece. His suit was luckily still on him, so it's better to roll with what he has right now.
"Okay. Since you are so kind that you decided to prepare a place for me for an extraordinary vacation. I just can't refuse such a generous offer." - Greg replied jokingly, nodding goodbye to Ian and getting out of the car. Only now he did not notice the cold, predatory smile that appeared on the lips of Alpha, as soon as he heard Greg's words.
"Let's see how your neighbors will like your jokes. Especially the one who you wanted to meet for a long time." - quietly said Ian, following the figure of Greg with his icy gaze until he disappeared from sight, getting onto the plane.

Greg looked at the landscape behind the aircraft window with interest. In addition to the pilot with him on the plane, there were two more shifters. But these guys could almost match in taciturn even with Mike. Greg tried a couple of times to start a dialogue with them, just for fun and giggles. But in response to all the questions, the two only snarled and turned away. Although Greg did not give up. All the same, it was very pleasant - to enrage people, all the more the one who had a wolf's half in them.
Their flight lasted for about five hours. Under the wing of the plane, at some point, the land disappeared, and everywhere the eyes could see the vast expanse of the ocean spread out.
"Judging by the direction and the location of the sun, we are flying somewhere to the south-east." - Stated Greg, turning back to his silent companions.
"Somewhere in the area should be my friend's island. We flew there for the summer holidays. Stunning beaches! I'm sure Lana and the children would love it too. We must go together next time."
One of the shifters frowned at his words. Greg even somehow thought that he noticed the pity that flashed in the eyes of this guy. But the second one smiled broadly and mockingly replied.
"I'm sure you will love this island too. Wonderful beaches! That for sure! And what a jungle! I bet you'd love it to death!"
Greg turned to the window, following the direction indicated by the shifter. And indeed, a small island full of greenery appeared over the horizon.
"Wow! Did Mr. Winterbourne decided to throw me on a deserted island?" - Greg asked with a grin, turning around to the shifter. - "This is of course quite cool and all. I always dreamed of trying these survival games once. But it's somehow not very originally. I expected something more creative..."
" Oh, dude! This is not a desert island." - Winking at Greg, the guy replied, rising from his seat and taking out a small backpack. Without much ado, he threw it in the face of the human and walked to the front.
"But you will have plenty of survival games there. Believe me. So hurry your ass, move it!" - He added coming to the door and jerking it sharply, opened the exit. The salon was immediately filled with the wind and the roar of the engines.
"Go ahead," - he said, ceremoniously bowing and pointing Greg to the exit. The second shifter, without waiting for human to come to himself, grabbed Gregory by the collar and, swinging, threw him out. Greg did not even have time to curse when he found himself in the air, floundering like shit in ... Well, whatever...
Fortunately, it was not his first parachute jump, and after a few ridiculous tumbles, Greg finally managed to fasten the straps and find the much-needed ring. Having leveled off, the guy calculated the approximate trajectory of the fall and pulled it, opening the parachute. The experience from the army did not fail him this time, and Greg softly landed on a deserted beach.
From the top, he wasn't able to find a single building, but since one of the shifters let it slip that someone was living on there, it means there should be houses or even a small village somewhere nearby.
Quickly and accurately folded the parachute back into the backpack, Greg looked around deciding where to go first. The beach looked really amazing in the midday sun. But first of all, it was worth exploring the situation, finding a place to sleep, and possibly some source of clear water.
"Fortunately, I'm not naked." - Greg chuckled, remembering the TV program, which Vicky recently told him about. She chimed on and on about it with such excitement that Greg made a point for the future, to find out what it was, to see if this show was suitable for a young girl. Maybe even when he comes back, they will watch it together. And Greg will be able to brag about this crazy trip.
Thinking about it and trying to remember all the details that Vicky was babbling about, Greg dived into the jungle. But some thought did not give him any peace. Something was wrong. He tried to throw aside the feeling of unease, concentrating on memorizing the road and studying the surroundings. But some jitters didn't let him relax, like an annoying fly buzzing over his ear.
He stopped gathering his thoughts and tried to understand what was bothering him so much. He is now on the island, which most likely belongs to Ian, and then judging by the words of the shifter from the plane, someone lives here ... Who?
No sooner had this thought fully formed in his head as a shabby sign caught his eye. Rather, it was just a broken piece of wood attached to a tree.
"Welcome to the Shifter's Island of Madness." - Greg read curved letters aloud printed on the board with something reddish-brown.
"Very Cute." - He stated, taking a step back and almost fell down stumbling about a stone on the ground. Although, after looking closely it immediately became clear that this was not a stone at all, but a shabby human skull with unnaturally long and sharp fangs.
"Even if I'm not naked. Now I'm really terrified." - Greg drawled, barely holding back the panicky notes in his voice. And as if in reply to this a wild howl spread over the island, which was picked up by several other and one mad roar that made the trees shack a little.
