Seeing Greg jump to another branch, Ralph immediately followed him. He leaped and tried to grab this little man, but the guy deftly slipped away, climbing the vine up and jumping onto the next branch. Shifter rushed after him. A red veil started to consume Ralph sight and mind. The only thought pounded in his brain, kill, tear, destroy! He will make this man suffer, cry in despair before he devours him piece by piece.
Greg jumped from tree to tree, not losing sight of the werewolf pursuing him and constantly checking the map and information in his head.
Ralph was the last experiment, and at first, the scientists decided that they could succeed this time. Subject truly believed he was Alpha. In his madness, the man and his wolf were striving for this form, and the drugs that were administered to him only spurred this process. Thousands of data, graphs, and formulas spun in Greg's head, most of which he could not make out. But the fact was that something went wrong. Scientists have already paid with their lives for their crimes. And now only Greg could stop this monster.
The jungle quickly began to thin. Between the trees, there were more and more spaces and Greg had to jump off the branches a couple of times, running a couple of meters to the next liana on the ground. In these moments, Ralph practically overtook him. A couple of times, even slicing claws on the back. But in the end, he wasn't able to catch this slippery guy.
"Just a bit more." - thought Greg, willing his body to move faster. But suddenly the light, which he watched all this time on the map, began to move at high speed, heading towards the mountain. Greg swore, realizing what will it mean for him, but it was too late to change the plan. It seems the time has come to test the blessing of the Moon!
The trunks of the trees became very thin and crackled dangerously, swaying under Greg's weight. He grabbed the next branch, and at that moment heard the roar and the sound of a breaking wood below. The trunk swayed, Greg rolled over and flew down, holding the useless piece of wood in his hand. Ralph, seeing this, roared victoriously and leaped into the air, ready to intercept his prey on the fly. Having opened his mouth, he almost felt the sweetish taste of blood on his tongue. Instead, the throat got burned with sharp pain.
Greg dodged at the last moment and put the same piece of branch in front of him, driving it right into the shifter's open maw. Then making a flip, he landed on his feet and without losing a second struck a heavy kick right into the ugly mug. The werewolf fell over on his back, and the wood, breaking the rest of his cheek, stuck at the base of the jaw, Forcing Ralph to begin to scratch his own face with claws with a hideous gurgle.
Greg enjoyed the moment just for a split second and then rushed up the hill. The goal was very close. The grass disappeared under the feet, and small stones appeared in its place. Very soon Greg was forced to start climbing on all fours, like a lizard on huge boulders. He paused for a second and turned around, looking for Ralph's figure between the stones. It was strangely quiet around. The dawn rays had already lit up everything around, but the black shifter seemed to evaporate.
"Maybe he is still there, trying to pick a log out of his teeth?" - Thought flashed through Greg's head. At that very moment, a shadow flashed from behind a nearby slab. Greg barely had time to grasp it with his eyes, before the shifter, crashed into him, knocking the air out of his lungs.
Ralph clawed at Greg's side and shoulder, slamming him to the ground. Fortunately, the fabric did not yield, but the bones cracked under the pressure of inhuman strength. Greg tried to wriggle out, but the shifter held tenaciously, banging the guy's back into the sharp corner of the stone. Greg gritted his teeth so as not to howl in pain that pierced the body.
Right above him hung an ugly muzzle of the beast. The piece of wood still was sticking from the torn right side, and white-red foam dripped from stuck half-open maw on Greg's face. The eyes of the shifter were wholly covered with a reddish-brown veil, nothing human was left in them, only endless madness looked at Greg from there.
The Werewolf lifted the man and again intended to smash him on a stone. But Greg at this moment abruptly put his elbow forward, and Ralph himself ran a torn part of the muzzle on it, driving a piece of wood deeper. A sharp pain forced the beast to retreat and release its victim. Ignoring the pain in his whole body, Greg jumped to his feet and, without turning around, raced up the slope. Another turn and he already jumped on a flat plateau in the middle of the stone walls. There was a wild cry and a roar from behind. Ralph sped along.
Reaching the middle of the stone platform, Greg turned around sharply. Ralph just jumped out of the rocks and now with a furious gaze was looking for his victim.
"Hey, freak? Looking for me?" - Greg shouted, jokingly waving his hand.
The werewolf made a strange guttural roar and stood up on all four paws and rushed at the guy. Greg mentally counted up to five, keeping all instincts of self-preservation from not making him flee too soon. The crazy monster in front of him seemed frozen in the air, approaching as if in slow motion. When the shadow of the beast fell on his face, Greg sharply flipped back and stood up on his arms, with all his strength kicked the shifter over him in the stomach with both of his legs, giving it acceleration. Ralph flew slightly up and landed behind, sticking his claws into a pile of something dirty white.
There was a roar. Only it was no longer the roar of Ralph. What the werewolf fell on was not just a peel of trash but the bear from which Greg had fled before. From the information on the lab computer, Greg knew that polar bears were considered the most powerful shifters. Even Alpha werewolf cannot resist the power of a three-meter monster with claws like sabers. And now he needed only to observe the confirmation of these dates as if watching the duel of two predators on TV.
The battle lasted only a couple of seconds. The bear turned around and slapped the wolf with its paw on the head. Ralph stunned, recoiled back and in the same second received the second blow with bears claws, which literally razed half of his head. Greg could no longer look and quickly turned away, trying to ignore the sounds of torn flesh and breaking bones.
He had to hurry while the bear was busy. Greg rushed to the aisle, from where they came and almost reached the end of the plateau when he heard already familiar roar from behind and the approaching rasp of bears claws on the stone floor.
"Oh shit! Here we go again…" – muttered Greg, rushing headlong down the slope.

***
The helicopter was flying over the endless water surface for more than 5 hours.
"Are you sure this is the right direction ?!" - Paul asked for the tenth time, turning to Frank and Marina in the pilot seats. The girl just rolled her eyes in annoyance, and Frank grinned slightly, shaking his head.
At first, his friends constantly glanced at him with concern, but after Frank knocked out a doctor with one blow, which tried to stop him from taking part in the rescue of Greg, no one dared to say anything. And now, five hours later, everyone relaxed completely and slipped into their normal state.
"Paul, dear, we all worry about Greg, but please tame your enthusiasm. Marina, despite looking as if she wash the floors in the men's toilet using her body, is still considered quite intelligent wom ... person." - Said Anthony, smiling broadly and winking at the girl who instantly scowled back at him.
"Yes, Paul, you will have to accept that, in spite of all your masculinity, you are utterly useless now and you just keep me from concentrating." - She added sarcastically, turning back to her laptop. - "And Tony. Just shut up!"
Tony's smile in response only widened. He wanted to say something more but was stopped by Mike. The guy suddenly grabbed his friend by the shoulder and jerked to the window, showing something in the distance.
A small dark spot appeared from behind the clouds and began to grow.
" Isle!" - cried Anthony, realizing what he saw. - "It's what we're looking for? Is Greg here?"
Impatiently, bouncing in his place, he turned to Marina. Everyone stared at the girl with the same question painted over their faces.
"Yes!" - Finally, replied Marina without looking up from her laptop. - " All that left is to find him. But it is strange, now I see his beacon, but he moves unnaturally fast."
" What's the difference! Maybe he was bored and now jogging!" - interjected her Paul. - "We need to find him first, and then you will have plenty of time to study your brother under a microscope."
Marina cast a displeased glance at the guy, but still nodded and the helicopter began to descend. Against the background of solid green, it was almost impossible to see anything, but Marina calculated the trajectory of the beacon, which should have belonged to Greg and sent a copter to a small clearing in the middle of the jungle.
As soon as it landed, Tony immediately opened the door and jumped out, holding his pistols in both hands at ready and looking around.
"Well, where is he?" - Threw the guy over his shoulder impatiently. Paul pushed Tony to the side, also stepping outside.
"Now!" - Marina yelled, and at the same second a dark silhouette jumped out of the undergrowth into the clearing and headed towards them with gigantic leaps. Tony tensed and aimed his weapons to a strange person.
"Take off! Quickly!" - Greg's cry came from the silhouette rushing towards them. Tony did not immediately have time to react and realize that this was, in fact, his friend. Greg, meanwhile, flew at him and Paul and catching both of them, jumped into the helicopter, falling along onto the metal floor.
"Hurry up, take off! " - He croaked, lifting himself up on his elbows. Tony wanted to squeeze out some kind of barb, but his words were stuck in his throat as he saw Mike's suddenly pale face. The guy tried to close the door constantly gazing outside with eyes full of shock.
The blades of the helicopter spun faster, and they began to rise. At that moment, something crashed against the door. An ugly face of shifter appeared in the window, covered with white fur and blood stains.
"F*ck me sideways! What the hell is this?!" - cried Tony, hiding behind Paul.
Frank abruptly pulled the helicopter's control stick and judging by the sound of the tail, knocked down the attacking were-bear with it, giving them the opportunity to rise higher. When they finally were high enough, Tony calmed up a bit and carefully crawled to the window, looking out cautiously. Realizing that the monster was left somewhere far below, he smiled broadly and turned to his friends.
"It was so cool! Let do this again!" - He proclaimed with a grin.
Paul immediately pounced on him, grabbing the collar.
" Turn around, Frank! Tony wants to stay!" - He shouted in an unusually happy voice, causing a burst of laughter from everyone except Tony.
