Chapter 26

Now, topic, topic, topic…

The topic common between us is magic, but even if the Cognitive Inhibition is working, it’s hard to talk about that at school.

This is hard.

If this was just a casual greeting, I might have been able to talk a lot more.

Though I was thinking at high speed and was tossing and turning my head, I really can’t think of anything. The silence between us is slowly becoming unbearable.

“Um…that’s right! What kind of book were you reading earlier?”

It seems that Sasakura-san was feeling the same, and she asked me that with her fist making a ‘pon’ with her palm.

I felt bad that in the end, the other side had to come up with the conversation material, but if I don’t ride this opportunity, it would be awkward, so I’ll do my best.

“This is what I was reading a while ago.”

While saying that, I took off the cover of the book and handed it over to Sasakura-san.

“Um…I can’t read the title, but what language is this?”

“Oh, I see. The title is “The Magic book of the Sage Sriss: Advanced”, and the language is… from a different world.”

I passed it to her, but I forgot that I was reading a book from the world of B-ji, so there was no point in giving it to her.

I can read anything smoothly thanks to my skill Language Comprehension, so it doesn’t feel like I’m reading a book in another language. I’m already used to understanding it, but I should be more aware that others can’t since none of what’s written here is in Japanese, and its not like me reading it out loud would make any difference either.

Or rather, our conversation still ended up with the topic of magic.

Well, there’s no helping it. I’ll just believe in the power of her Cognitive Inhibition magic and continue as it is.

“A book from another world… it’s from a different world?! And it’s a magic book?!”

“Is it more surprising now?”

I looked around while smiling at Sasakura-san’s reaction.

It looks like the Cognitive Inhibition magic is still effective. Sasakura-san shouted out loud but no one seems to care.

If that is so, I think we can continue this topic with peace of mind.

“I’m surprised! It’s amazing! It’s a magical book from another world that looks like its invaluable.”

“Well, it has about the same value as an expensive technical book.”

“It’s different! It’s completely different!”

Sasakura-san is appealing that it was a great treasure, but in the other world, due to repeatedly summoning heroes and adopting technology from them each time, their bookbinding techniques are very advanced.

They seem to have a certain number of talented people who can create new magic, so they try to recreate the technology by obtaining details about it from the hero who introduced them… I’m surprised that they’ve been able to reproduce it without seeing the actual thing.

Therefore, for me, the value of this book is equivalent to an expensive technical book, but I can only say that because it is easy for me to obtain things from the other world.
It’s unavoidable that I don’t think it’s valuable even if I understand why it can be so.

“Shinjou-kun is really random, isn’t he?”

“You have the right answer.”

“That’s not it. By the way, if I read this, could I use magic in a different world… and use magic circles?”

She was amazed for some reason when I explained the accurate value.

Then she asked if she could use magic circles if she read this, but I shook my head.

“This book is a theory book. It’s not like you can automatically use new magic after you read it.”

“B-but, if you know the theory and put it into practice…?”

“Well, I think that’s possible. If you’re interested, shall I lend you the beginner version?”

While suggesting so, I took out the beginner’s edition from the Infinite Storage and looked at the cover… and stopped.

On the cover were the words “The Magic book of the Sage Sriss: Beginner”. Of course, in the language of the other world.

“…shall I lend you the translated one later?”

“Oh, is that so. Well, I’m interested, but its fine. I can’t bother you that much.”

“If it’s for Sasakura-san, it’s never a bother. No matter how hard…”

I tried to tell Sasakura-san that she had nothing to worry about, but before I finished saying it, she raised her hand to stop me.

“I thought you’d say that, but it’s really fine. Besides..”

“Besides?”

“If I really want to learn how to use it, Shinjou-kun can just teach me, right?”

I was told that with upturned eyes that I had no choice but to silently nod.

I could feel my love for Sasakura-san surging inside me, and my cheeks gradually turned red.

“Uh… no… after all, I’m going crazy. I’m so aggressive… but I can’t stop it…”

“Err, Sasakura-san?”

Sasakura-san, who’s face suddenly started to turn red so much that it looked like it was steaming, calmed down and quickly raised her face.

“Oh! I’m sorry, Shinjou-kun! It’s about time for the morning assembly! I’m going back to my seat!”

“Oh, yeah. It was fun.”

When I told her I had fun, she immediately smiled with her hands on her back and returned to her seat.

What’s happening in Sasakura-san’s mind today?

I’m curious, but I feel that after a while, she will return to the usual Sasakura-san.

Well, even if she doesn’t go back to usual, there’s no problem because she’s cute nonetheless. But just in case, let’s save her fresh appearance in my memory for the time being.

I was only taking it lightly at that time, but throughout this day, Sasakura-san was confused and worried.

First, during break time after class.

She was running to my seat when suddenly she was in agony when she rammed her little toe on the foot of the desk right in front of me.

After the pain had subsided, Sasakura-san, who looked red like a boiled octopus, slowly went back to her seat with tears in her eyes.

Next, during lunch time.

“Shinjo-kun, let’s eat together!… Sorry. It’s already cold.”

I thought that she invited me to eat with her, when she suddenly looked straight forward… no, she looked right past me with an expressionless face and left for somewhere.

As for me, I wanted to eat with her, but I had no choice when she left so I silently ate my lunch alone.

And after the class ended and some time has passed, I felt that Sasakura-san came to my side just as I was about to go home.

“Shi-Shinjou-kun, why don’t we go home together?”

“Of course I’d love to.”

I readily agreed when she invited me to go home with her, and when I looked at Sasakura-san, I was surprised by what I saw.

Her bag is inflated, and not only that, she’s also carrying a large backpack and a Boston bag like she was going on a school trip.

It seems that she came to school with a lot of luggage today.
Where on earth did she hide them during class?

“What’s up with those bags?”

“Well… various things?”

Listening to her, it looks like she’s trying to dodge the question while averting her eyes.

I don’t really know what happened, but it seems that there’s something going on.

I’d like to help her out if I can, but for now I’ll stop prying.
For the time being, I decided to take the backpack and Boston bag that Sasakura-san was carrying on her back.

“Oh, thank you.”

“That’s just about it. It literally feels like carrying a normal bag to me.”

This is not due to the effect of muscle training, but rather the shared physical abilities of a hero.

Actually, even though the people in the other world are not heroes, they seem to have more physical ability than they look, and their world is run and filled with such people.

In fact, it seems that they are so strong that all their buildings, tools, and equipment are made to be ridiculously sturdy so that they won’t mistakenly break them.

“Okay, lets go.”

“Oh, yes.”

When I reached out my hand, Sasakura-san repeatedly extended and withrew her hand before finally grabbing my hand.

I was glad because I was wondering what to do if she didn’t hold my hand.

Because of that, we gained the attention of our classmates, but I couldn’t care less so I pulled Sasakura-san’s hand and left the classroom.

Sasakura-san didn’t use magic to alter their memories this time, so basically everyone in class have found out that Sasakura-san and I were getting along well.

We walked back home silently, and noisy voices that began to be heard a while after we left the classroom.
