Chapter 36

After advising them to surrender, Sasakura-san lightly stabbed my back from behind.

“Isn’t that too light?”

“I don’t think there is anything more dangerous that would make them accept our demands more readily.”

“Well… there is… maybe?”

She asked me in a low voice if I was fine with such a light tone, but when I explained what I was thinking about, she agreed with my decision.

Well, I doubt any more provocation would be useful in this situation.

Now, will such a light recommendation to surrender be good or bad?

Since they still had to continue working hard to clean up the underworld, I couldn’t really fulfill my provocation. Therefore, if they were determined to refuse my recommendation, I had to say “Huh, that’s some strong guts. I wouldn’t kill you for that reason” while extinguishing the fireball.

I didn’t like it, but for some reason there was no response from their side.

There was no attack, no news of surrender, only silence.

I could feel their magic spreading like a wall, but I didn’t understand what they were doing.

I hope they were not planning on going all out against us.

After waiting for a while, looked to my side as I was going to ask if I should make another recommendation when finally, there was movement. The magicians came out of the castle and went to us.

The procession was slow with heavy footsteps, and there were several people working together to create barriers.

Eventually, when they reached a point where they could talk to us if they raised their voice a little, a man came forward, and when he tried to open his mouth wide, he panicked and put his hand to his throat in a hurry.

Still, I could see him trying to speak out, so I asked Sasakura-san to make eye contact with him so I could hear the other person’s voice.

“…surrender, We will…so…quickly… erase… it….”

and what I heard was a very husky voice.

If you looked closely, most of the magicians are dizzy and their exposed skin is burned.

“Oops!”

This is bad.

I changed the characteristics of the fireball from fire to water in a hurry.

Then I let it rain down on the surrounding area to cool it down.

Sasakura-san must have also grasped the situation, so at the same time I turned the fireball into water, she was sending cold wind around her.

Then, perhaps because they were relieved, the barriers which the magicians had put up disappeared, and one by one they fell to the ground.

Each one was only emitting a small amount of magical power, so I was worried, but they seemed to be conscious because they were trying to stand up while groaning.

“…let’s split up and make sure they’re not dead.”

“Sure, ok”

Because there were a lot of them, I took charge of looking at the condition of the magicians who came out. Sasakura-san was left to check if anyone remained in the castle and if they were dead.

I used Life Detection magic and carefully checked if there was anyone who was not responding, and based on the response, it looked like they were all alive.

If you check closely, the depth of their burn was not as bad as it seemed.

However, almost all their body was burned.

When Sasakura-san returned from the castle, she was lifting five magicians in the air.

Judging from the magical power emitting from them, it looked like they were also alive, as Sasakura-san carried them by using magic like a psychic power.

“How was it?”

“Well, these five were the only ones I saw. I don’t think there’s anyone else, alive or dead.”

“Well, there was no death here, either. But they were all slightly burned all over, and their magical powers and physical strength were greatly exhausted.”

Perhaps they each tried to defend from the heat wave.

However, the heat waves emitted by the small ball of sun far exceeded their expectations, and they consumed a lot of magical power. Moreover, they suffered burns all over their body and exhausted their strength and energy.

“I don’t think we can proceed at this rate, and although their burns are light, amount of burns are too many… shall we heal them?”

“You look kind of awkward”

“I don’t like them personally, and honestly I don’t feel like healing them. But when I see their condition… Sasakura-san also has an indescribable face.”

“I can’t get rid of my accumulated grudge easily, but I don’t want to be the kind of person who enjoys seeing people suffer.”

Both Sasakura-san and I were depressed by the tragedy.

There were cries of anguish here and there, but they all endured without moving too much.

Well, they were almost burned all over after all.

Even if their burn was light, the burn was so extensive that if you moved poorly, you would feel more pain.

……Let’s get over this quickly.

We moved to the center of the magicians and created a magic circle.

It spread in no time and went to about 50 meters in diameter.

Because of that, most of the magicians were enclosed in the circle, however, some of them were not reached.

It was difficult to make it any bigger in terms of control, so I asked Sasakura-san to carry the ones outside towards the circle instead, and then I invoked its magic.

The magic circle gave off a pale green light which penetrated throughout the area.

“This is…”

“The pain… is going away…”

“…………”

It slowly healed the magicians’ burns, and a cry of joy was heard from the magicians nearby.

Then, the magicians, while making sure that their burns were completely healed, suddenly turned their eyes to me.

Their gazes… held no hostility.

But I had a very bad feeling, so I left the center and waited at a distance to see what would happen.

Sasakura-san also went next to me, and she looked very unhappy, perhaps feeling something.

“Oh… how dreadful, how merciful…”

“Did we face this sort of being……”

“I… how stupid I was”

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry –”

“Ha, ha… I’m alive! I’m alive! Ha, ha, ha!”

“Uuu…… hi ggu…… uuu”1

“……!”

and after a moment the magicians began to move.

A person who watched with teary eyes shining disgustingly and with his hands folded.

A person who looked with fear.

A person who was having a realization of what has happened and was dumfounded.

A person who apologized and prostrated himself continuously as if he was broken.

He who looked up to heaven and laughed.

Those who wept and wept.

There were various actions taken by various people.

However, although there were differences in their behavior, they had in common the joy of life and the awe of us.

It seemed that the small sun had a great impact on them.

“What is this… cult?”

“This… I don’t want anything to do with it in many ways…”

Sasakura-san and I both frowned at the magicians’ conditions.

I never thought this would happen.

I was planning on fighting them and breaking their pride, but I didn’t want to break their spirit.

“What are we going to do with this?”

“Really, what should we do?”

Sasakura-san and I were at a loss.

Haaa, what should we do with this……
