There was a knowing glow in Felicia's eyes that stated she had been expecting this. However, she did not made a move to evade the bite but instead she stood there and allowed the ghost baby to chomp on her flesh. As the baby's jaws clamped on Felicia's shoulders, Arthur could hear the sound of bones breaking and Felicia's scream.

However, he did not move to help, it was not yet time, he was waiting for his cue. They only had one shot at this, as much as he disagreed at Felicia's decision to volunteer herself to be the bait, the plan had already been put into motion and there was nothing he could do about it but try his best to follow the plans laid down by Felicia.

As the pain radiated through her body, every cell in Felicia's body was screaming. Just as the ghost baby released its jaws to ready itself for a second bite, Felicia moved her uninjured arm to loosen the dagger that she had around her waist. Before the baby could launch a second attack, Felicia raised her arm and stuck the sharp end of the knife into the baby's head with as much force as she could gather in her injured state. The pain from the big movement did not stop her, if anything, the pain spurred Felicia forward, making her push the dagger deeper into the baby.

The Blood Mother immediately tended to her child as the baby screamed bloody murder. Taking this opportunity as the enemy extricated their attention away from her, Felicia continued the next step of the plan and yelled at Arthur, "Arthur, now!"

As Felicia leaped away to safety, Arthur prepared his vocal chord and yelled at the top of his lungs. He sent a wall of force forward and if the Blood Mother phased out of the way like she usually did and Felicia's speculation proved to be untrue, it would be over for them. Felicia was injured since she set herself up as bait and it would be a matter of time until the Blood Mother tired Arthur out. They needed Arthur's attack to hit.

The Blood Mother who was more concerned about her child's safety did not even pay attention to Arthur's attack. The force from vocal materialization slammed into the woman and it sent her flying against the wall. It slammed her into the wall of the ballroom and Felicia could feel the manor shook.

The Blood Mother tried to get up but Arthur's power kept her pressed against the wall. Furthermore, it appeared as if Felicia's observation had proven right. There was a brief period of vulnerability where the Blood Mother could not use her phasing ability after the ghost baby attacked.

However, this only meant that the Blood Mother was temporarily incapacitated. Arthur's vocal materialization was powerful but it was not powerful enough to seriously injure the Blood Mother. At most, it only kept her at bay.

Unfortunately, Arthur had exhausted every skill at his disposal by maintaining the vocal materialization. If they did not deliver the fatal blow in these few seconds, the Blood Mother would regain the phasing ability and thus turn the battle around.

Thankfully, Felicia still had a plan. Resisting the injury and pain from her shoulder, Felicia picked up her bow and shot an arrow right at the baby in the Blood Mother's arm. Due to the injury, the arrow was not particular fast or strong but thanks to Arthur's vocal materialization, the force carried the arrow forward like a rapid stream pushing the log that fell into it forward, increasing its momentum.

It was basically the same tactic that they came up with earlier but back then, the Blood Mother had the ability to phase away from the attack. Hopefully, the result would be different this time.

The Blood Mother saw the arrow coming and she tried to raise her hand to shield her baby from harm but her limbs were firmly pinned into place by Arthur's voice. It felt as if a solid wall of force was pushing her right up against the real wall behind her. It already took all the energy in her being to resist being mushed into pulp much less raise her hands to put up a defense.

She watched as the arrow shot through her precious bundle and when it inadvertently did, it felt like a part of her heart broke. The feeling of devastation when she found out she had given birth to a stillborn flooded her mind and she was instantly overwhelmed by grief.

The Blood Mother wanted to lash out but as the life drained from the bundle in her arm, so did her desire to fight. The voice that pressed her against the wall had stopped but she had lost all reason to fight. She lived for her child and died for her child.

Felicia and Arthur gasped greedily for air as they saw the Blood Mother slid down the wall of the ballroom, still carrying the bundle in her arm. The eyes that looked at her baby was filled with care, love, gentleness and at the foremost, a heavy sense of guilt.

The red color faded from the bundle around the ghost baby and the same happened for the red in the Blood Mother's dress. It was as if the life essence was slowly seeping away from the Blood Mother and her child.

The Blood Mother crumbled to the ground and her structure and form slowly faded into dust. With a voice that sounded like it came from a broken windpipe, the Blood Mother uttered right at the bundle in her arm, "I'm sorry, deary. Mother has failed you again..."

Then, the mother as well as the baby crumbled into dust, leaving behind a heap of tattered dirty cloth. They were grey and pale, all the red having drained from them.

"We... we have won." Arthur said in a tone that could be characterized as disbelief.
