The Fool dragged himself to the hidden parts of the sewers that a few knew. David rested a little bit, closing his eyes, napping after he thoughts for a while. Fighting for his life had taken a toll on him. His shoulder hurt like a bitch, too, especially since he had dove into the ocean. Salt made his wounds worse. Sealing the injury was the first thing he did after he had climbed into the sewers and had found the things that he had hidden for himself.
David didn't know how long he was resting, but when he felt more in control of his body and the pain became much more comfortable to bear, he got up and tried to escape. Since Chang Min had successfully infiltrated the boat, it meant that it was not safe to stay there anymore. The Fool knew that the members of Arcadia may already be dead by now, especially since the snipers had ended more than ten people when he counted before.
He could easily find more men for his disposal. He just has to live. Now, it was time to escape from here, and change his plans, 'Just because he is alone, doesn't mean he can't do much.'
The Fool was carefully maneuvering himself when he heard three footsteps echoing into the hollow circular walls of the sewers. He stopped and let the shadows cover himself, adding the pipes to help him disappear.
Seeing Chen Zhong with two children, David was confused. Why was he leading them to the end of the sewer? With a sudden realization, The Fool narrowed his eyes at Chen Zhong. He slowly moved himself to observe the three people without being seen.
Hao Chen reported in the communicator, "LING LING, SEWERS, FOOL IS THERE! GO NOW! SHE'S GOING TO DIE!"
Everyone stopped what they were doing and sped up to the sewers. Alexandre, who was already going there with Chang, stopped in horror. He was already guarding one child. He was not positive that he could protect two more while battling with the Fool. He had experience with fighting, but he was not as good as Chang Min or Yang.
Alexandre did not have time to think as Chang rushed towards the sewers towards the only path to reach his sister. Alexandre hurried to catch up to Chang's fast pace, trying to catch him so he can stop and explaining to him that he might also die if they go.
Chang burst out, "I'd rather die than abandon my little sister! I've sworn to myself that I will not let anyone feel what I felt before!"
Hao Ren could do nothing but report the event, "CHANG AND ALEXANDRE ARE ALSO IN THE SEWERS. ALL CHILDREN IN THE SEWERS WITH THE FOOL! ALL PEOPLE GO TO THE SEWERS!"
Tensed in his seat, Hao Ren was nervously twitching for what was about to happen.
The Fool waited for Chen Zhong to pass him before his hands darted out to take Ling Ling. His arms tightened with force, as he pointed the gun in Ling Ling's head. He grinned. Now, this was a different story. He might have a chance to kill these people one by one with this vital hostage.
Chen Zhong froze when he heard Linjun's shout of surprise. When he turned to look at the kids, his blood grew cold. Seeing the Fool made him shake in fear.
Having seen everything happen, Hao Ren shouted in his communicator again, "THE FOOL HAS TAKEN LING LING. IN THE SEWERS! EVERYONE GO TO THE SEWERS! NOW!"
Hao Ren knew he was shouting, but damn it, he doesn't care. A life was in the line. He could give these people hearing aids as long as one innocent life does not end this day!
Meanwhile, in the boat, Yang could not hurry. He could not do anything as Arcadia members swamped him. Yang, too, was fighting for his life. Surrounded by all the remaining terrorists, Yang did not know how many people he had already killed. He did not bother to continue counting when he reached twenty.
On the other hand, Chang Min, who was still in the roof deck, cursed and asked Hao Ren, "Where is the connection to the sewers near me?"
Hao Ren immediately answered, "The place where Alexandre and Chand went to..."
Chang Min exhaled loudly before asking, "If I jumped from the boat and took the path the fool took, where is it?"
Hao Ren got what he was planning and answered, "Below the wood planks of the old part of the docks, there is a wide enough waste disposal there. It is connected to the sewers!"
Chang Min dived without hesitation. A loud splash was the only thing that followed after him.
Yue and Uncle Yu Rong, slowly moving from their spots too. Hoping to help secure the paths that the Fool could go to escape. They were a burden when it comes to speed. They had a person who used a wheelchair after all, but they could easily add more power to security.
The Fool was slowly inching away from Chen Zhong and the little boy, who was shaking. He's once sad face regained his foolish grin. He needed this girl alive to kill the rest, so he had to execute his plans slowly.
"Do not move or else," The Fool threatened to them.
Wei Linjun stared at his trembling hands. On his right was the gun that Chen Zhong had offered to him, but his eyes did not see material things. His eyes could only replay the time where Ling Ling's hands were slowly reaching out for him as the Fool took him. Linjun had reacted so slowly, and he could not point the gun as fast as he wanted and shoot. He was not strong enough to tug Ling Ling into him instead.
Wei Linjun had trained, yet, he is still weak. What use is his training if he cannot protect his people- his parents, his grandparents, his Uncle, Chang, and now Ling Ling too.
He was a failure.
In a matter of minutes, Chang Min had swum into the waste disposal, not even flinching at the smell. He ran as fast as he could, following the wet tracks of a man.
Chang Min, Chang, and Alexandre arrived at the same time. The Fool looked at them pitifully. Chang Min's eyes went down and met with Ling Ling's frightened face. He sent her a soft, calming smile and mouthed, 'I will rescue you. Keep calm, I am here, okay?'
Chang Min almost smiled when Ling Ling nodded a little even if her hands were shaking, and her legs were slowly caving in. The Fool looked at the little boy that had once deceived him, and laughed, "It seems that I have your sister, little boy."
"Let her go," Chang demanded, then he offered, "Take me instead!"
David laughed.
Chang did not waver; he gritted his teeth and did what he knew could distract the madman. He said, "My mother loves Ling Ling. She will hate you if you kill her!"
Chang Min and Alexandre were surprised at Chang's boldness. Hao Ren, who was watching through the cameras and hearing through the communicators, was taken aback.
"Your mother will thank me for killing these men who have dirtied her reputation as Miss M!" the Fool snarled.
Chang Min's eyes wavered to his Uncle. Signaling Chang to move, as he continued distracting the Fool, "I thought you were going to take mother and me so we can become a family. I thought you would teach me all the things I wanted to know?"
Just like before, the prospect of a family made the Fool waver, and in the moment of hesitation, a gun was shot straight into the Fool's head, flawlessly hitting the place between his eyebrows.
Everyone's eyes grew wide. Chang, Alexandre, or Chen Zhong had not pulled the trigger.
It was Wei Linjun, eyes blazing with fire, and gun fantastically handled.
