"Edmund this child, apart from she is my sister's daughter, she is also the child of the person I treasured most," Dannah's previous confusion turned emotional. She remembered Scar then and thought of what Scar was going to do in this kind of situation. It was very obvious by then that L'Empire, apart from her and her uncle Franco didn't know that this child existed yet and if they will, they will surely take the child especially if they will know that she was not Edmund's daughter. Would Scar like that? For her daughter to grow up under the hands of the people who ruined her and Dian's life? Surely not.

"Third miss I know. I know very well how this child is too precious to you but know that she is also precious to me. In her I have found hope that somehow, I can do something good in my life. I beg you third miss, let me have her. She had been born for a week already and you don't know how much joy she gives me," Edmund's eyes glowed with sincerity. Also right then, Dannah thought that no one, not her uncle Franco, not even her, could probably give Scar's daughter the life she deserved. She knew Scar would not want to let her grow up in Franco's care as the environment of the syndicate is not good for an innocent child and she herself couldn't manage to raise a child right then, as her life was more complicated than it seemed. Besides, she was still a Lagdameo afterall, and taking a child in under her care would raise a suspicion in L'Empire.

"You know that I'll be watching closely right?" Dannah heaved a sigh as she gave Scar's daughter a close look.

"Yes," Edmund answered without doubt.

"I'll send money for her daily—"

"No please, third miss.  I'm going to raise her as my own and since I am her father, I shall solely be responsible for raising her, specially the financial aspects,"

"But Edmund, you are not a Huang anymore. How are you going to raise her while you are also taking care of Dian?"

"Third Miss, the Huang's abandoned me but I still have little money in my bank. Also I have a degree in the medical field and have gained employment here in this little town. That would be enough for us," Edmund assured her that he was set and needed no  help in raising the daughter he wanted to take in, "Besides, I want to raise this daughter in an environment that doesn't involve too much wealth. I don't want her to grow up like me,"

"Okay then. But in case you needed help, do not ever hesitate to call on me," Dannah somehow was feeling a bit comfortable with the whole idea. "She is my niece after all,"

"I promise I will," Edmund's face brightened at the thought of Dannah's approval. He certainly didn't expect that she would entrust her Dian's daughter as he was a horrible person back then.

"By the way, did you give her a name already?" Dannah inquired.

"I thought of naming her Hope but I'm still having doubts about such a name," Edmund told her.

"If it's okay with you. I want to name her then since you are not sure with the name you've chosen," Dannah asked gently. "Would you name her Scarlet please?"

"Scarlet," Edmund somehow was fascinated by the name. It reminds him of all the mistakes Dian made in her life and out of those mistakes, this daughter was the one that came out good and beautiful. "A beautiful mistake," He whispered unconsciously, enough for Dannah to hear.

"Yes. She's the only beautiful thing that came out after all those tragedies," Dannah agreed with how he described it. Truth was she wanted to name her Scarlet not as a reminder of all of Dian's mistakes but because she wanted to be reminded of Scar. Having her daughter name almost the same name of her father, it made Dannah feel less sad knowing that although Scar left this world without her, he somehow left her a girl version of him. That thought made Dannah smile and for the longest time after the tragedy that happened in Puente De Amor, she felt at peace.

"Scarlet," Dannah touched the glass that separates her from Scar's daughter. "You will be our redemption. Please grow up good. Your father will always be with you and I will always be watching over you. I promise that no one, not even L'Empire can ruin you,"

After a few more exchanges with Edmund Long, Dannah decided to leave. The previous Huang's young master did escort her out but on their way to the exit, they passed by a certain ward where a nurse came out and gave Edmund some greetings.

"Good morning sir. Are you coming in?" the nurse asked politely.

"I will when I come back. I'll have a visitor to attend to yet," He replied, turning to Dannah. When the nurse laid her eyes to Dannah, she was taken aback that immediately she turned her head back to the door where she came from even though it was closed already.

Seeing her reaction and knowing very well that Dannah and Dian had some similarities, Edmund felt the need to explain so as not to scare the nurse off. "Oh, this is her kin,"

Edmund's words caught Dannah's attention immediately and she then understood why the nurse acted that way. She must have thought she was Dian and that scared her.

"Is she in there?" Dannah asked and Edmund only nodded in response.

"I'll come back," Edmund turned to the nurse and encouraged Dannah to move forward. He knew she didn't want to see her sister yet and he respected the fact. "This way third miss, let's go,"

Dannah didn't move suddenly. Knowing that Dian was in the other room, there was something in her heart that called for some longing and a closure. She had been feeling it when she woke up, wanting to know what really happened to Dian and her real situation. No one gave her any details aside from the fact that she was recommended to be sent to an asylum.

Seeing that she hesitated, Edmund took it as a sign. "Would you perhaps want to make a glimpse?"

Unconsciously, Dannah nodded as deep within her, she really wanted to see how Dian was doing. She was somehow her sister and if only things were a bit different than how they all grow up, she could have continued being the brightest and most reliable sibling she had, just like how Darryl was to her.
