Chapter 131: Setting Up Traps Outside The Protective Array




Axel's PoV:

As the ground shook violently, I already knew what caused it.

I hastened the recovery of my mana so that I would be able to be at my peak condition when confronting the high-level monsters.

I used my mana sense to see through beyond the protective array and checked up upon the high-level monsters that were heading towards the protective array.

As I was recovering my mana, my teammates and the junior heroes were transferring their mana towards the mana storage array.

The mana transfer array was consuming the mana inside the mana storage array and transferred it to maintain and strengthen the protective array.

I summoned the system map which caused a translucent blue screen to appear in front of me.

The translucent blue screen displayed the topography of the surroundings including colored dots that represented both my teammates and the junior heroes and the high-level monsters that were heading towards the protective array.

Multiple dark red colored dots was heading towards the protective array which was shown on the system map.

The multiple dark red colored dots represented the multiple high-level monsters while the green-colored dots on the system map represented my teammates and the junior heroes.

There was a huge white dot on the system map screen and it represented me and the huge white dot was surrounded by several green dots.

After studying and analyzing the intel displayed on the system map, I was already finished recovering most of my mana.

I circulated my mana around my body to increase the function and power of my body.

My five senses improved drastically after I used my mana to improve my body.

I checked again on the system map and saw that the high-level monsters were only a few minutes away from my current location.

It was time to prepare my magic skills and set up traps outside the protective array.

I opened a small entrance in the protective array and went inside it.

After I exited the protective array, I closed the entrance in the protective array and observed the situation outside the protective array.

Since my eyesight was improved, I was able to see the approaching high-level monsters.

Most of the high-level monsters were golems and forest spirits while some of them were wyverns and fire lions.

I had discovered that the high-level monsters were only above level 1,000 and below 8,000.

I would be able to take care of the high-level monsters if the high-level monsters had not exceeded more than a thousand but my bad luck had stricken me.

There were 1,362 high-level monsters heading towards the protective array.

By using my earth magic, I dug a 5-meter radius and 10-meter deep hole on the ground.

I cast my earth magic to create several sharp earth spikes at the bottom of the hole.

I used my nature magic to manipulate the wood in the trees near me and used the wood to shape it into a thin long stick.

I covered the hole using the thin long sticks that I had created using nature magic from the tree woods.

After placing the thin long wooden sticks horizontally on top of the hole, I uprooted some bushes and used them to cover the hole.

I had now finished creating a simple improvised trap that could kill any high-level monsters by dropping them into the hole and impaling their body using the sharp earth spikes.

I had fortified the sharp earth spikes at the bottom of the pit so it was much more durable than usual and was much sharper.

I had also used easy-to-break thin long wooden sticks so that it would be easier for the high-level monsters to fall into the pit.

I had covered the hole using some leaves from the bushes to conceal the pit that I had created since the high-level monsters were not intelligent enough to discern the trap that I had installed.

After I was done creating the first trap, it was now time to create the second one.

I used my earth magic to dig a deep hole around the protective array which formed a circular hole.

I create a tremendous volume of water to fill up the hole with the use of my water magic so that it would create a moat.

After creating the moat, I had decided to use some water-dwelling bloodthirsty sea creatures to inhabit the moat that I had created.

It would be the most effective trap than the pit since it wouldn't miss any high-level monsters as long as the sea creatures weren't occupied.

I should be able to find numerous high-level water-dwelling creatures in some lakes and rivers if I go deeper in the forest.

I cast my [Flight] skill into myself and flew up into the sky.

I scouted the forest and saw many high-level monsters that were heading towards the protective array and were only a few kilometers away.

I didn't mind it that much since they were still a few minutes away so I focused on the task on hand.

I surveyed the surrounding forest and found a river beside a nearby woodland.

I headed towards the river and descended on the ground.

After descending on the ground, I didn't bother taking off my clothes and just dived into the river.

Some parts of the river were deep while some were shallow so I only went towards the deep parts.

I had hoped to find some water monsters at the bottom of the river and I guessed that my luck was great today since I found a school of piranhas.

The piranhas were at least level 2,500 which would be enough to destroy a nearby kingdom if the piranhas would evolve and walk on land.

Fortunately, God was merciful enough to let piranhas stay on water but not that merciful when it comes to crocodiles since crocodiles were amphibians.

But anyway, I swam into the piranhas, closing the distance between me and the piranhas.

As soon as I was near the piranhas, they started swimming towards me while opening their mouths which revealed their sharp teeth.

I didn't bother in dodging the piranhas' attacks and decided to flex my defense stats a bit.

The piranhas bit into my body but their sharp teeth weren't sharp enough to penetrate the skin in my body and they weren't even enough to cut through the hair on my skin.

That's just how high my defense stats were. I was glad to obtain a cheat skill that was related to eating which made my growth much faster than the average hero.

I asserted my dominance towards the piranhas which made the piranhas afraid to continue attacking me.

The piranhas swam a few meters away from me and acknowledged me as their boss.

Of course, I didn't let go of this opportunity so I quickly create some slave contracts and successfully enslaved the piranhas.

After enslaving the piranhas, I counted the high-level piranhas, and luckily, the high-level piranhas were at most a thousand or two so it was more than enough to fill the moat that I had constructed.

I used my water magic to form huge water spheres and stored the piranhas inside the water spheres.

I floated the water sphere into the air and stored the piranhas until no piranhas were left in the river.

After that was all done, I headed back to the protective array with the huge water spheres containing piranhas.

A minute had passed and I arrived outside the protective array.

I went to the moat and manipulated the water sphere to transform into a funnel shape.

I then opened an entrance in the water funnel and commanded the piranhas to swim through the entrance.

After the piranhas swam through the entrance in the water funnel, the piranhas went out of the water funnel which caused the piranhas to come falling into the ground.

I had transformed the water sphere into a funnel to direct the funnel into the moat.

Currently, the piranhas were falling into the moat hundreds by hundreds until the water funnel was emptied.

The thousands of piranhas were enough to fill the moat so it wasn't a problem that some of the high-level monsters were able to avoid the pit trap that I had created since the moat was filled with piranhas trap would kill some of the high-level monsters.

I checked up upon the high-level monsters and found out that they were only a minute away from arriving at the protective array.

As the forest spirits were only a few meters away from the protective array, the forest spirit started manipulating the trees and transformed them into several wooden spikes.

The forest spirit used the wooden spikes to attack the protective array.

I protected the protective array by creating a barrier using my mana to block off the wooden spikes.
