“Do you have any tasks at the mansion today?”

“Yes?”

“Firewood.”

“But you already made plenty yesterday. That should be enough.”

Eden, with his strength, seemed to have produced almost two years’ worth of firewood in just one day. There was a huge pile of it stacked in one corner of the garden.

“In that case, I’ll help with other tasks.”

‘What’s going on? Why is he like this?’

I looked at Eden with a puzzled expression.

‘Is he trying to keep a close eye on me?’

Using the excuse of helping with tasks seemed like a good cover. After all, he had been so persistent about touring the mansion from the beginning.

While we were engaged in conversation, Knox approached us this time.

“Why are you two talking about?”

As Knox spoke, Eden took out a baton from his waist. Wait, sir, that’s too sudden!

As expected, with a flustered face, Knox extended his arms forward to calm Eden down.

“Whoa, whoa. I was asking the lady over here.”

Seeing the two of them showing signs of another argument, I casually ignored Knox’s question and moved away.

‘I guess I should go and prepare the shelter too.’

Realizing that I was moving away, the two of them hurriedly followed me from behind.

“I’m busy. Don’t bother me and step aside.”

“I’m sure there are things I can help with. There seemed to be a lot to repair.”

“Miss Cherry, you said you needed me. We need to catch more bugs.

Eden and Knox yelled in turn as they followed behind me. At that moment, Eden confronted Knox and bared his teeth.

“There’s no way you could have just come down to this countryside. I don’t know what the hell is going on, but back off. If you don’t want a beating.”

“You’ve really gotten rough around the edges since becoming a cop. Anyone would think you’re a street thug, not a police officer. Hahaha.”

“No one would mistake this face for that of a street thug, so mind your own business and leave with your fancy words, you little-“

“Didn’t you hear? Unlike you, Miss Cherry asked me to come.”

“Ugh, so noisy.”

As I interjected, they suddenly fell silent, both Eden and Knox shutting their mouths.

Before me was Eden, pretending to be a gentleman, but with Knox, his true personality showed without reservation.

The reason for Eden’s pretense was undoubtedly to lower my guard for the sake of “investigating the scene.”

However, I couldn’t figure out why Knox was approaching me for compared to Ethan, whose purpose seems obvious.

‘Since things have turned out like this, I might as well make use of Knox’s interest and assign him some tasks.’

At the moment, I was short on time and manpower, so having an extra pair of hands would definitely be beneficial.

‘But if he becomes a hindrance, I’ll kick him out immediately.’

With that determination, I climbed up the hill.

Back at the house, I assigned Eden the task of repairing the walls. The contractor was still on the roof, making the finishing touches.

Elpinus herbs didn’t need to be composted, so we decided to plant the seeds directly. Of course, it was Knox’s decision.

Today, furniture was scheduled to be delivered, so I was even busier than yesterday.

“Isn’t it interesting? The heir of the Duke of Lancaster is repairing the walls! Hahaha!”

Knox sat down beside Eden, with a lollipop in his mouth and teasing him while he was repairing the wall. He seemed to have already finished planting the Elpinus herbs.

‘… That’s probably why Eden hit him.’

I heard that Knox got hit a lot by Eden during their time at the Royal School. As expected, Knox was now being held by the collar and slumped on the ground.

They were not children. Both of them should be older than me, and yet, they seemed even more immature than me.

Where do those romantic novel male leads from? Well, one of them is not a male lead but an older brother.

Amidst that, someone greeted and entered through the main gate. It was Susanna.

“Miss, the mansion is quite remote, isn’t it?”

Carrying a rectangular square-shaped travel bag, she entered the garden with a groan.

“Susanna! You’re finally here!”

I jumped up from my seat and ran towards Susanna.

“Miss!”

Susanna warmly greeted me, and we held hands tightly, spinning around in excitement.

“It must have been tough.”

“I’m fine. I just need to get used to living in this mansion with you.”

She spoke so elegantly, as if she were a lady’s maid. As I was patting her head, Susanna noticed Eden and Knox and asked me.

“Oh? Who are these gentlemen…”

“Oh, they are workers. They’ll help with unpacking the luggage.”

Since we wouldn’t have any more face-to-face interactions after the apocalypse, I decided not to formally introduce Eden and Knox to Susan.

Eden and Knox looked at me with perplexed faces. Susanna discreetly glanced between us and greeted me, holding the travel bag she brought.

“May I go inside and unpack?”

“Sure, sure. Go ahead.”

I sent Susanna into the mansion, and soon after, the furniture I had ordered from the nearby town, Kint, arrived.

The workers from the furniture shop carried the furniture into the mansion, and Eden and Knox who had been sneaking in helped them.

I brought some drinks and distributed them to the workers, watching with a sense of pride as the mansion was gradually filled with furniture. It felt like everything was falling into place.

If someone were to ask me how to create an excellent shelter, I would confidently reply, ‘Money!’

With money, I was able to fill the place with all the necessary items.

As Eden and the delivery men inspected the food and various necessities stored in the pantry attached to the kitchen, their expressions filled with surprise.

“It seems like a shelter for a war or something.”

Hearing the workers mumbling, I truly felt that I was doing things right.

Remaining time until the apocalypse: 14 days.

Eden and Knox stayed at Happy House until late at night to help me with unpacking.

Both of them had worked hard and sweated all day, so I kindly offered them a room each.

As a result, both of them were practically on the verge of passing out and only woke up this morning.

“…I apologize. I didn’t plan to stay here.”

Eden, who woke up in the morning, came to me with a bewildered expression and greeted me.

I gave him a casual response and left the room with a bag full of bells on my back. Seeing me like that, Eden opened his eyes wide in surprise.

“What’s with the bells?”

“Oh, I have a use for it. I’m busy today, so I can’t see you off. Please give my regards to our doctor.”

After greeting him, I hurriedly left the mansion, and Susanna quickly grabbed her robe and followed me.

“Miss! let’s go together.”

As we crossed the garden, I handed Susanna some bells and took a rope from my belt bag.

“What are you going to do with this?”

“I’m going to hang them in the forest.”

Those creatures are sensitive to sound. So, I’ll hang these bells around, creating distractions with their noise.

I placed bells connected with ropes on various trees in the small forest behind the mansion. When needed, I could pull the ropes from the mansion, making the bells ring.

Next, I brought a shovel and dug deep pits with traps around the mansion. I left a sign saying:

<※ Beware of Traps ※>

Monsters might not be able to read it, but people would be cautious when they saw it.

“Miss… Where did you learn these things?”

Susanna, who was carrying a lot of baggage and helping me, asked cautiously.

“Well…”

In the movie? This is something that modern people can easily come up with.

But if you’re in the upper class of this world, it’s a different story. If it were Cherry Sinclair in the image of an iron-clad heiress, she would never have imagined anything like this.

‘Memories from my past life might be the key.’

I came up with an excuse and tried to find a suitable pretext.

“Since I traveled a lot with my parents to foreign lands since I was young, I learned various things in somewhere in the Western Continent. I had a lot of fun doing interesting stuff.”

However, looking at Susanna’s face, it seemed like she wanted to ask, “What exactly were you doing during your travels?” I didn’t have any further explanation, so I just laughed it off.

Regardless, the preparations for the end were progressing steadily, which was fortunate. But in Brunel Village, I seemed to be regarded as the ‘madwoman of the abandoned mansion.’

Somehow, I felt a bit nervous. Is this really going to be, okay?
