The Male Leads Are Trapped in My House 35

January 7th, 2024

Hi guys, I am Gazella. I will try to translate and share with y’all, if you read this now that mean I was able to do it, somehow. When I finally figure out how to do this, uploading on NU, I’ll be uploading a lot of chapters. As a novel reader myself, I hate waiting for chapter so I will be trying to translate&upload any chance I get.

little summary for previous chapters in case if you do not remember:

Cherry Sinclair: our Fl

Susannah: Fl’s maid.

Harrison: Fl’s family lawyer and Fl’s bro-like-childhood friend

Eden (but I will be changing to Ethan): Ml and original Fl’s brother. He is a heir of duke and a police officer.

Knox: Weird-creepy doctor.

Aurora: original novel Fl.

Last scene: The apocalypse began ten days earlier than it was in the novel and Cherry knocked down Ethan with her axe to save him.

The previous groups translations and raw novels chapter numbers are kinda different so you will be reading this ch again but other than that everything is same. so yes you read this ch before.

I hope you enjoy reading ❤

Eden -> Ethan

I had a dream.

On the third floor of the Sinclair family’s splendid townhouse.

It was four years ago, when I was fifteen years old, my immune system weak, and I was always sick.

“I have finally got some medicine.”

One day, my father suddenly said that he had obtained some medicine and forced me to take it.

After a year or so of taking the pills, I was healthy, even a little too healthy.

“Aurora.” he said, “You must remember this name, and if a child with that name is in danger, you must remember that you have to help her.”

My father looked at me and said something unintelligible. I didn’t know who Aurora was at the time.

I remember. He was definitely talking about Aurora. If Aurora is in danger, I must help her…

Wait, what?

My eyes snapped open.

It was a memory I’d long since forgotten.

I wondered why I was having this dream, at this moment, of my late father mentioning Aurora’s name.

As I woke up, my vision returned. The sun was shining through the window in the room.

A sparrow landed on the window sill and sat down.

As I wake up, the details of my dream from a few moments ago come flooding back. My father said I had to save someone, but I couldn’t remember the name. Who was it?

I was sitting on a bed in the middle of the room. I must have fallen asleep while crying.

I think Ethan had left me on the bed…….

“Looks like you’re finally awake.”

I heard a man’s voice overhead.

I look up and see two long legs next to me. I lift my head a little higher and see Ethan sitting on the bed, looking at me.

My breath caught in my throat as he leaned forward, his arms resting on his thighs, his piercing blue eyes glaring at me.

“……..”

“……. Hi.”

Ethan didn’t answer. He just stared at my face in silence for a while, and only after a few moments he spoke.

” What happened?”

Did he not remember me slapping him on the back of the head? I glanced up at him, just in case.

“You passed out, which is why I brought you here.”

“…….”

“……Haha.”

“……I do remember Miss Cherry hitting me in the back of the head. Very clearly.”

Holy shit, you do remember that.

“The village was in shambles, the monsters far outnumbered the survivors, and Sir Ethan would have been in danger if left alone.”

“There were more people in danger than me.”

I know that.

But to me, he was more important than a bunch of people that I didn’t even know. I couldn’t save them all.

There was an uncomfortable silence for a while.

“Ha. What’s done is done…….”

Unexpectedly, Ethan spoke up, as if he didn’t blame me.

I stared at him for a moment, not sure what he was thinking, and then he turned to me.

“You saved my life……. Thanks.”

“…….”

The words made me feel like I was going to cry.

I hadn’t saved Susannah, the person I really wanted to save.

My tightly pressed lips trembled.

“What’s wrong with your eyes, they’re puffy.”

Ethan, who I had expected to roast me and accuse me of something, unexpectedly asked something else.

And with his question, I suddenly remembered the pain I’d been pushing to the back of my mind.

“Susannah…….”

I swallowed hard. My lips twitched and I clutched at the front of my chest, and Ethan looked at me, a little surprised.

“Susannah said the monster……. so I thought I’d take it into my own hands……. with my own hands…….”

The traumatic facts of yesterday that I had forgotten came flooding back into my head.

I felt like I was about to vomit. As I clamped my mouth shut, Ethan hastily scooped me up and set me down on the bed.

“Take a deep breath.”

He said, looking down at me.

“Inhale and exhale.”

The blood rushed to my face from the difficulty of breathing and I was about to burst. Ethan slowly calmed me down.

“It’s okay, it’s all going to be okay.”

He reassured me, his expression unchanged.

I followed his lead and breathed in and out. I could feel my blood gradually circulating and my breathing relaxed.

“Feeling better?”

Ethan asked, and I nodded.

“Thank you.”

Ethan let out a low sigh and rolled off of me.

“I’d ask what the hell is going on here, but…….”

Ethan glanced around the room, then down at me on the bed.

“Just get some rest.”

“No, I don’t think this is the time to rest, the sun is up, we need to burn them, there’s a monster corpse outside.”

Of course I had no intention of resting. I knew that if I lay still, alone, I would relive yesterday all over again.

I was afraid the memories would take hold of me and not let go.

Ethan studied my expression and nodded approvingly.

“Understood. And as soon as I’ve got the situation sorted out, I’ll head up to the capital.”

Well. From the way he spoke, it sounded like he still didn’t have the situation figured out.

“My sister is in the capital, and I need to make sure she’s okay there.”

“The capital…….”

I spat out the word and swallowed it back down. I couldn’t bring myself to tell him that the capital would be the same.

Even if he wasn’t, Ethan was someone who viewed me and the Sinclairs in a less than favourable light, and I wasn’t about to add to his suspicions.

I was sorry I couldn’t tell him the truth, but Aurora would be fine. There was no way the heroine was going to die, not until this case was over.

The problem was Ethan, who had to stay here instead of being safe with Aurora.

I got out of bed and turned to Ethan.

“What the hell happened at the village?”

As he left the room with me, he was silent, as if thinking about yesterday’s events. After a moment, he broke the silence cautiously.

“I was at the police station all afternoon yesterday.”

Right. Until I left Brunel and headed for Kint. It was obviously days away from destruction…….

“Then suddenly the call came in. There’s been a murder at a horse carriage hire.”

A carriage hire shop.

As soon as I heard the words, I knew what had happened. They must have moved from another part of the country.

Although it’s not far from the capital, Brunel is such a small country town that even people in the capital don’t know it exists. It doesn’t even have a railway station.

But the virus had reached Brunel.

‘The capital already has…….’

I opened the front door of the Happy House and stepped outside, trying to shake off the ominous premonition.

“But it was too late, it was like what we saw in the gardens of this mansion last time: people turning into monsters, and then being bitten by one, and then turning again.”

Ethan’s brow furrowed painfully as he remembered yesterday’s events. He spat out curses and ran his hands through his hair.

“Damn it, what the fuck is going on…….”

He continued to spit curses, confused as to whether he was worried about Aurora, whom he had left behind in the capital.

It wasn’t that I didn’t understand what was going through his mind. I was worried about Harrison, too.

We walked slowly through the vegetable garden.

“Is this a monster?”

Ethan asked me as he spotted the creature’s carcass off to one side.

Two carcasses lay on the ground, one in the shape of a bear and the other in the shape of a wolf, just as they had been put away yesterday. I nodded.

“I think the wolf one is Susannah…….”

Unable to finish my sentence, I turned away. I didn’t do this when the monster appeared at House 61, or when the farmer turned into a monster.

Ouch. I threw up to the ground.

Ethan did not pat me on the back or offer me a piece of comfort.

But when I straightened my bent back and stood up, he held out a square-folded handkerchief in front of me. He didn’t even look at my face.

“I’m grateful you saved my life, but I still think you should have saved at least one more person.”

I didn’t respond to Ethan’s words.

I prioritise my own life, but he prioritises the lives of others.

I was stunned that a man who was supposed to be alive for the good of the world would have such a mindset.

“I get it, you don’t have to compromise your sense of duty.”

But I didn’t think it was a bad thing for Ethan to keep his good heart.

The world needed people like him in this hellish place, and I didn’t want him to change.

If Ethan wants to sacrifice himself for others…….

then I can stop him. Even if it earned him resentment and hatred.

Ethan anointed the monster’s corpse with oil, then threw a lighted match and flames immediately exploded.

Roar-

For a moment, Ethan and I stared at the flames in silence.

Crackling.

The body burned, emitting a foul smell, and we stared at it in disbelief.

“I’m sorry, Susannah, for not protecting you.

I prayed and prayed and prayed for her in front of it. It was hard to stop my body from shaking.

I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.

I burst into another tear in front of him.

Ethan stood beside me, silently, staring into the flames.
