Qai and his companions first went to an inn that night to take light meals and to have some tea.

But upon reaching the inn, stories about the concluded battle between the mysterious masked cultivator and the dozen or so sages were the heated topic of discussion.

The three thus chose a table where could they clearly hear any interesting incident related to the mysterious emperor.

"That was crazy," A random cultivator bragged as he narrated his version of the story. "You should have seen it yourselves."

"One versus a dozen!?" Another cultivator asked trying to clarify what he just heard.

"No," the innkeeper interrupted. "I heard there were more than a dozen."

"That's true..," another one replied, "I was there as well.. I saw it with my own eyes."

"Tsk," the second cultivator remarked with a slight shake in his head. "An emperor truly is someone difficult to handle."

"But what was even more surprising was the fact that he seemed to be a 'vagrant' cultivator with Void elemental affinity," the innkeeper descriptively stressed. "And an emperor at that!"

It should be remembered that cultivators with Void elemental affinity were very much demanded among large organizations due to the 'Forgery' skills they could equip.

"I wonder if that emperor has fully learned all forging skills?" The first random cultivator asked.

Everyone in the gathering slightly nodded as each of them had exactly the same thoughts.

"If that would be the case," the innkeeper said, "then he must definitely have some strong backing."

Noise started to echo in the inn as different opinions were randomly thrown in the discussion.

"Ha ha," another cultivator interrupted, "then those greedy sages should better hide their buttocks before the news get out of this city and spread in the entire region."

"True," the innkeeper agreed. "They'll be dead in no time."

Indeed, even if the way in the cultivation world was ruled by the strong, it was further filled with hatred and vengeance which made the system of preying on the weak an endless cycle of conflicts.

"Some said they saw the mysterious cultivator appear near the alley towards the city library," one of the gathered cultivators said.

"Ah."

"That doesn't make sense..," another cultivator said. "Why would he get back inside the city walls where more thieves are probably lurking in the shadows!?"

"Well," the innkeeper intelligently opined, "it's probably easier to his standards to hide blending in the crowd than in the open field outside."

Qai and his group were intently listening all those times trying to get as much details as they could. It was not that they have intentions of chasing the mysterious emperor themselves—but that they found it intriguing to keep track of what eventually happened.

And so after an hour, the three finished their meals and left the inn straight to Mo Clan's estate.

****************

The day after was supposed to be the time the Shu siblings would depart from Jiang City and head their separate ways.

However, after their preparations Shu Liang was shocked with Qai's words.

"You go ahead Big sister," Qai said.

"Eh!?"

"I want to see the chief librarian before I leave the city," Qai quickly added as he noticed Shu Liang's inquisitive look in her eyes.

Shu Liang of course surmised that Qai probably thought that he would be able to find the mysterious masked emperor in that area so she no longer bothered asking him his true intentions.

"Alright," Shu Liang said with excitement.

She was probably too engrossed with her travel to the western area of the Stonecrest region that was why she appeared hasty.

"I guess I'll see you in a year then," Shu Liang quickly added.

Thereafter, the two went to see the Mo Clan patriarch and Mo Shui to say their thanks. They also dropped by Elder Long's place as well as Lin Qiao's and Hao Ren's to bid their goodbyes.

Mo Shui then sent them off from the Mo Clan's estate's main entrance.

"Don't forget to see us on your way back to 'The Hunters' Plateau'," she said with a smile.

"Sure," Qai quickly answered with bigger smile. "I hope we'll find the Mo Clan as 'Frozen Sword Sect' by then."

And with that, the Qai and Shu Liang finally went their separate ways which officially marked as their journey alone in the vast cultivation world.

***************

Upon reaching the main gate, Qai was surprised to see that the library was closed that day.

Qai looked around to see if there was any poster notice or anyone whom he could ask about where to find the chief librarian but found nothing.

He tried to circle all the way around the building to see if he could find any open windows or any apertures where he could sneak into the library.

Opportunely, there indeed was a small opening that looked a small ventilation of some sort where he could fittingly crawl.

It was exactly located at the back of the building just across a small alley.

Without further hesitation, Qai took a deep breath and immediately went through the ventilation hole and crawled towards the insides of the library.

However, upon stepping on the the building floor, Qai quickly felt that he broke through some sort of thin formation which sounded like he just alarmed the building.

'Twiiiishhhh.'
