Upon reaching the village, Qai and his father went on their separate ways to do their respective tasks.
Shu Wei, on the one hand, went straight to Elder Lu to request the merchant to accompany him to the village chief while Qai, on the other hand, went his way to the village square.
Qai arrived at the place riding a beast with young children following him from behind in astonishment. They were amazed to see Qai riding a demonic War Horse and being trailed at the same time by another but much fiercer demonic beast--it was Shandian. Even the cultivators around the village were shocked to see a young man with two tamed beasts.
He hopped down from his mount and went inside a small inn.
Qai's standard for a servant was for the servant to at least have a cultivation--it didn't matter if he or she is in the earth stage, as long as he or she would be able to face a cultivator without being intimidated.
'It would be difficult for a mortal to handle the attitude and manners of cultivators,' he thought.
Qai's intention was not to hire the servants only for the Wasteland affair, but to serve the Shu family for life. So he thought he would get somebody who were not only willing to serve but those who were trustworthy to begin with.
He looked around the inn to see if there were cultivators lazying around. He approached few individuals but none were buying his proposal. Shu family was an okay family, but the status of servant was not helping Qai's cause.
A girl of about 26 years of age, who just came in, overheard what Qai was inquiring about with other cultivators and felt that a stroke of opportunity suddenly kicked in.
And from the looks of it, she already figured out that the demonic beasts just outside the inn surrounded by children must be this young master's beasts.
Her name was Yu Yue--she looked ordinary but she had a flare of attractiveness in her own right.
Yu Yue awakened her 'Water' elemental affinity and cultivated for so many years but only reached peak earth stage of Expert realm. For cultivators to have met the bottleneck at just the earth stage was truly awful.
She learned a common class 'Whip' as her only skill. And as the name suggested, the skill summons a whip using the elemental attribute to make an attack.
Yu Yue didn't want to embarass herself so she patiently waited for Qai himself to approach. She thought that she may not be qualified to what Qai was looking for. But she definitely wanted to take advantage of it.
"Good day, Miss..," Qai greeted her.
Yu Yue was surprised that it didn't take long for Qai to approach her but she simply bowed her head in reply not wanting to show any excitement on her face.
"I am the youngest son of Shu Wei," Qai introduced himself.
"My family is looking for cultivators willing to serve our family..," he added.
Qai wasn't done selling his words but Yu Yue was already beaming with smiles with eyes wide open.
Yu Yue of course had already heard of the name 'Shu Wei' before so she felt joy after learning that the young master in front of him had reputable background.
"Young master," she said, "as you can see, my cultivation isn't that good for my age.. and.."
"It doesn't matter," Qai happily said. After many attempts of dealing, he finally found somebody who might be willing to accept his terms.
"There will only be benefits in serving our family..," Qai said. "While Shu family is not as big as the great clans in the city, we have enough resources to help cultivators."
All the more Yu Yue felt excited. However, she had another matter to ask Qai.
"Young master," she called. "You see, in as much as I like your offer.. ahm.."
She paused then shook her head--she was obviously in predicament.
"No no.. I'm very much willing to serve Shu family.. but there is something that I'd like to request if it's okay..," she said.
"And what would that be?" Qai asked.
"You see, I am not alone.. I live with a person who took me in as an apprentice when I was young.. he taught me cultivation when I awakened my element," she added.
"But his situation is much more dire than mine.. he's 110 years old but he's in the same level of cultivation as mine.. will Shu family willingly accept him as well?" she asked.
"Eh?"
