To make them suffer so much that they wish they were dead while alive. That's my goal.

Her beauty shone in the flashlights of the cameras. Her words reached everyone's heart and demanded respect. Spencer gazed at her with adoration and pride. She's the best. I'm so proud of her.

"Well said." Someone clapped.

"Bravo!" Another chorused.

"Miss Nathalia Carter is very wise."

"Wise, intelligent, and talented. Perfect. No wonder Mr. Spencer Davidson loves her so much."

"Indeed. They are a perfect match."

Somehow, the topic was slowly changed, and questions about the romantic relationship between Spencer and Nathalia were asked.

Evette was so enraged that she pointed her finger at Nathalia and yelled loudly, "Nathalia Carter, you've paid these journalists, haven't you? You've bribed them. Huh. What a smart move!"

Her insolence had brought back the impression people had of the old Evette Carter. She hasn't changed at all.

The journalists were furious to hear her accusation. "What do you mean?! Are you accusing us of taking the bribe? What do you think we are?! We have dignity, unlike you! We report the truth."

"Evette Carter, you think way too highly of yourself. You are arrogant, insolent, and disrespectful."

"How dare you insult us! You are nobody."

"Well, she's a SOMEBODY actually, think about those UNBELIEVABLE things she's done."

"You should consider yourself extremely lucky that there's still someone that would want to be with you. Huh."

One after another, the journalists retorted and insulted angrily. Evette felt hurt and affronted. "You are verbally attacking me with nonsense. You are just nobody, snobbish people!"

The interview quickly turned into a ridiculous argument between Evette and the reporters.

Spencer put his arm around Nathalia's shoulder and watched the show with a sneer. There she goes. She asked for it.

Ben still couldn't figure out how it turned into a mess. Didn't we say the plan was to get Nathalia in trouble? What the hell is this? It's so embarrassing!

Though Evette had her experience in arguing and had learned quite well, she didn't have a chance to win over so many journalists. Before long, she was swearing and shouting like a madwoman.

Ben grew anxious and wanted to interrupt, but Evette was unstoppable. Why did I agree to come with her? What a stupid mistake I've made! He thought regretfully.

"Mr. Ben Johnson, are you sure that you still want to date this madwoman?" A journalist sneered.

Ben's face turned red, embarrassed, and enraged. He said pitifully, "I apologize for Evette. She has suffered a lot recently. It hasn't been easy for her..."

He was trying to win their pity while thinking Evette Carter is just a dumbass! She's got me involved in this shit, and I have to help her out.

Nathalia glanced at him with a sneer. A leopard never changes its spots.

Spencer couldn't take it anymore, and he cut Ben short, "So she has to accuse Nathalia of something she didn't do? So she has to hurt others?" You two are too naïve. Do you think you can hurt my Nathalia while I'm here? Let's see what you've got.

The journalists were on Nathalia's side, and all condemned Evette as well as Ben for their ridiculousness and insolence. Ben cursed silently as today was supposed to be his day, the day to show his success and pride, yet it had turned out to be a joke. This stupid dumbass! I shouldn't have agreed to take her with me!

He swallowed his anger and managed to defend himself calmly, hoping to save himself from the condemnation, "No, that's not what I meant. I mean, she's suffered a lot, and she's kind of lost her mind. Most of the time, she's alright, but sometimes it isn't good. Please understand and forgive her."

"Aha. So she IS crazy. No wonder she's been barking like that." A journalist commented.

"Well, one can't argue with someone who has mental problems. It's a waste of time."

"Yeah. What a waste of our time!" Everyone concluded that Evette Carter had gone mental and decided to drop the argument.

Evette was so angry that she stomped her feet and grabbed Ben's arm aggressively, "Nonsense. I'm totally fine. She did kill dad! She did! I'm telling you the truth. Ben, don't you believe me?"

Ben wished he could get rid of Evette, but it was too late. What have I got myself into? He thought remorsefully.

"Well. Can you prove it?"

Ben's question suddenly reminded Evette of something, and she quickly got her phone out of her bag, went through something, and handed it to a journalist near her. "Here, look, here are the messages my dad sent me before he got killed."

Spencer frowned. So she has come here for a purpose. Can't these people just leave my Nathalia alone?

As long as I live past midnight...just a few more hours... Nathalia thought to herself.

The crowd gathered around curiously. There were four messages. In the first one, Frank said that someone had set him up. He accused Nathalia of her cruelty in his second message, saying Nathalia was the one that set him up. His next message expressed his wish to live on so he could see Nathalia get her punishment for what she had done, and the last message showed that he felt threatened, that someone was following him, and it was Nathalia trying to get him killed.

Spencer scanned the messages quickly. "This is what you call proof? Where is the body if he's dead? Are you accusing Nathalia just based on these messages? Do you actually think everyone's stupid?"

Evette was still in a frenzy from arguing with the reporters. Her mind was in a mess, and without thinking, she shouted out, "It's the body found by the shore. That's dad. Nathalia, don't you think you can run away from this. You didn't even give dad a funeral! That's why I came back here, to arrange the funeral for dad."

She made herself sound like a responsible and loving daughter, yet the malicious look on her face wasn't convincing at all. Ben wanted to interfere, astonished by her stupidity, yet failed to find the right words. What the hell is she doing? She's ruined everything.

The journalists hadn't heard about it yet, but they knew better not to say anything uncertain. We don't know if it's true, but we certainly don't want to say the wrong thing, especially in front of Spencer Davidson.

Evette was surprised by the silent response from the crowd. Has Spencer Davidson bribed all of them? Why isn't anyone helping me here?

"I guess considering your mother's profession, and it's not easy for you to know who your father is," Spencer said with a disdainful smile.

"Shut up! I know my father! I know it's him." Evette snapped.
