"Evette Carter, do you admit that you have drugged two boys and had sex with them?"

"How do you think of the whole incident?"

"You are under eighteen years old, right? What's your opinion of your own behavior?"

"Don't you feel ashamed? You are still a student."

News of the Carters had been a great hit recently. The reporters had been enjoying the constant source of headlines.

The questioning made Evette impatient and snappy. She said crossly, "Shut up! Don't you use your brain? Look at me! I'm beautiful and attractive. Do you think I need to drug someone to have sex with them? And I'm Evette Carter, the daughter of the Carters. Guys beg to be close to me. Don't you think the charges against me are nonsensical?"

She was proud and arrogant, but what she said was convincing.

It was true that she was good-looking and from a rich family. It was also true that she was many guys' dream girls.

She had countless admirers, and most of them were also from a decent background. She didn't need to do what she was charged with.

"That's true. It doesn't make sense."

"But what's the truth?"

Evette turned to look at Nathalia, pointed her finger at her, her eyes filled with hatred. "The truth is that my sister, Nathalia, is jealous of me because I'm better looking than her. She's worried that Spencer will dump her because of me, so, so, she set me up. She's done this to me..."

Tears rolled down her face as she spoke. She looked so fragile and helpless. The crowd was touched by her and grew angry towards Nathalia.

"That's cruel."

"Nathalia Carter, how could you do that to your sister?"

"My God! Nathalia Carter, you are unforgivable!"

"Sir, you should arrest her. Send her to prison."

A few guys were so outraged that they rushed forward to throw punches at Nathalia, but they were stopped by Matt, and two police officers stood by Nathalia to protect her.

Matt knitted his brows and said coldly, "Please step back. We are working here. We will take care of it." Then he stared at Evette while thinking Impressive. She's young, but she can really act.

It is her who set Nathalia up, and she has changed the story completely, and she convinced the crowd so easily. If I wasn't there last night, I would have believed her. She's something.

Evette found his stare somehow terrifying as if he knew, but she glared back at him. You are just an officer. I'm not scared of you. We have the money. Money talks. We can just stuff money up your mouth and shut you up.

Nathalia sneered. Aren't you one of the bad people? Innocent girl. You are the worst of the bad.

Doesn't she feel ashamed at all?

The male crowd couldn't help feeling sorry for Evette and jumped to help. "Nathalia Carter, you are a bitch. You set up your sister."

"Evette, don't worry. She will get what she deserves."

"Nathalia Carter, you will get your punishment!"

They sounded so self-righteous and accused Nathalia as if they were some authorities.

Nathalia glanced at them indifferently. Seriously. You think you are righteous and fair. All you see is a girl's pretty face. You don't think.

There was no point arguing with these morons.

Nathalia remained silent. Matt watched her, and he felt protective of her. "Enough. What's the truth? We will find out. Before anything's confirmed, don't accuse people." He shouted to the crowd.

He felt angry, excited, but he didn't understand where the feeling came from. It was new to him.

He told himself that it was merely because he couldn't stand lies, and he didn't want anyone innocent treated unfairly. There's nothing else.

He was, after all, an officer, and the crowd showed respect and stopped their accusations.

Evette thought angrily, How dare you go against me? You are merely an officer. I won't just let you win.

Then she came up with an idea, and she opened up her eyes in astonishment as if she had just discovered something new and of great significance. She looked at Nathalia, then Matt, and questioned, "Officer, how come you are so protective of Nathalia? Is there something going on between you two?"

It brought whispers and murmurs to the crowd. Some were pointing at the two victims and casting strange looks at them.

Matt frowned. What an irritating woman! Annoying.

Nathalia bit her lips, took a deep breath, and scowled at Evette, "Evette, if you have to hurt me, it's fine. It's between you and me. But don't drag others in. This is outrageous."

Things were getting more and more complicated. Nathalia didn't want Matt to be involved as he was related to the Davidsons. Or things will get out of control. She didn't know why, but she had a feeling about it.

Evette was pleased to see Nathalia annoyed. "Why? Are you upset? It's true, isn't it? You are angry because I told the truth. If not, why are you two working together to hurt me?"

The crowd exclaimed, "My God. That's horrible."

"You two are evil."

All of a sudden, Anne pushed through the crowd and rushed to Evette. She embraced her and cried, "Evette, my poor girl. What have they done to you? I'm so sorry. Sweetie. I wish I could be able to help. All these years, you have suffered so much, but I didn't expect they would do such a cruel thing to you. Oh..."

Nathalia watched calmly. Good. Here starts the show.
