Chapter 16: Spar with Mia

"Since Mia has exited the ring, Lucy has won this match," the teacher says before raising my arm into the air.
I got booed until I got off the ring. I just smirked internally while having glances at Mia who when she saw me looking at her, immediately froze up and looked down at her feet.
"Alright… Kai and Avi are next up…" The teacher announces.

I wasn't called again as I watched the arrogant kids in front of me, spar against each other. Though they may be arrogant and snotty young masters and mistresses, they are still well trained as I even learned some things by watching them.
"Okay, with the last 15 minutes of class, you can pick your opponent and decide whether you want to use powers or not," the teacher says.
As soon as the teacher said that, almost half of the class snapped their heads towards me, Mia included. It seemed she was waiting for this moment due to her smug face that looked down on me with pitiful eyes. Almost like she was about to prey on me.
"Teacher! I want to have a rematch with Lucy. Also, we both agreed to use powers… right?" She says tilting her head slightly.
"Whatever…" I said while shrugging my shoulders.
Mia's grin grew even wider.
I knew she was going to do this and still accepted. There's no way I can win against an A-rank power but I hope to scale my base form without my skills during this match. Also, I was interested in what the power will be.
"Since both sides have agreed… though one side has no power, we will start the fight between Mia Lachnes and Lucy Amana. If one side gets hurt, you will immediately stop and if you don't… then I'll have to do it myself," the teacher says with cold eyes.
I'm pretty sure this teacher isn't from a huge family but he was lucky enough to get his hands on a strong power stone. The reason he was able to become so strong, was because he was practicing all kinds of martial arts and improving his body every single day.
If he wasn't lucky enough to find the power stone, he might've been just drafted into the army. Though he'll only be a foot soldier since higher ranks need at least a D-rank power.
When the teacher placed his hand in between us, I thought I should take off my sweatshirt, otherwise, it will get dirty.
"Wait a sec," I say while taking off my sweatshirt.
I gave it to the teacher which he quickly received as I took my fighting stance. I could feel many stares full of ŀust on my body as Mia took a fighting stance as well.
I extinguished my emotions right in time as the teacher lifted his hand and took a few steps back.
Mia crouched low and snapped her fingers, causing blue flames to appear all around her. She smirked as she manipulated it into a spear and swung it around. It was like a beautiful dance with blue ribbons following her every movement.
I narrowed my eyes as I waited for her to strike.
Mia started to build up more and more momentum, then suddenly strikes right at my gut. Her strike was crazy fast as I was bȧrėly able to dodge it. The heat that emitted from her spear was turning the surrounding air into fog.
I looked over at my teacher and saw a face of indifference. He was only going to stop once I got injured or was about to die. He seemed aware of my capabilities which is why he didn't bother objecting to the match.
I crouch down and do a move I just learned today. I swept at her legs, with my own leg, but Mia reacted quickly by jumping up and stabbing her spear right at my head…
She was trying to kill me.
I rolled back out of the way and her blue spear plunged into the ground. Once her spear was in the ground, blue fire erupted from the dirt. I was bȧrėly able to react as the ends of my hair were almost singed.
If I wanted to do damage, I had to close the distance between us. I made a desperate dash towards her, while blue fire tracked me. If I slowed down even by just a bit, I would go up in flames right here and right now.
Once I was within kicking range, I lifted my knee and launched a roundhouse kick towards her stomach. She dodged by just a hair while pulling her spear out of the ground and swinging it towards me.
The spear approached me fast as I ducked down but was welcomed by a kick to the face.
BAM
I was sent flying back and I could feel the world spin. My back collided with the dirt below me and I let out a small groan.
*sigh*
Shit. I'd say I did pretty well.
Mia snapped her fingers, causing blue flames to appear around me. As I was laying on my side, I could see the beautiful blue flame but had one thought…
I can control this.
It felt like I could grasp it and make it mine, but held back the thought for now. If I did end up doing it, I would draw way too much attention to myself. I'd also better stay down until the teacher steps in.
"Alright! That's enough!" the teacher says, appearing in front of me and swiping away the blue flames.
The heat of the flames seemed to not affect him. I don't even know what his power is related to but I heard it was at least a B-rank stone. Maybe, god-like senses or strength?
Mia clicks her tongue before taking one last condescending glance and walking to her friends. The entire class cheered and awed at her performance while the teacher helped me up from my daze.
"Do you need to go to the infirmary?" he asks.
"Yes please," I say.
I know I wasn't hurt, but lunch was after this so I decided to take a break there. Well, it was more like I was used to having my lunch break in there.
"Mia! You have to help Lucy to the infirmary!" the teacher shouts.
"Why should I help that loser?" Mia says, raising her eyebrow.
All of her friends laughed at me but the teacher wasn't having it. I could feel the air thicken tenfold and when I looked at my teacher, I could tell he wasn't kidding around. Stone cold face, that seemed to almost look down on Mia.
"F-fine, only just this once," she says while walking up to me.
She wraps my arm around her shoulder and helps me stand up. Our walk to the infirmary was dead silent. The kids that skipped class all started to whisper and when I looked over to Mia, I saw an angry expression that was directed right at me.
"What rank is your power stone?" I ask.
She was surprised by how I nonchalantly asked her a question and reluctantly replied with,
"Why should I tell trash like you. If it wasn't for Mr. Michael, I would've killed you by now. I hope you don't expect to get off easy after this," Mia says, sneering at me.
I only shrugged my shoulders while opening my status.

I opened my map and looked around for the perfect areas to lead James into. I needed to kill him in a place that will take a long time to find, potentially not even find him since I'm probably going to burn his body once I'm done.
"Were here now… now get off of me," she says pushing me into the infirmary after opening the door.

I turn around while focusing all my bloodlust on her. Barely any leaked out from the sides as I seemed to take the form of a feathered demon who stood above her.
She was annoying and I should probably stop her while I'm ahead. Plus nobody will believe her if she says that I, just some trash rolling around in school was stronger than she was. Who would believe that blasphemy!
She dropped to the ground with a pale face and dilated pupils. I reeled my bloodlust back in as fast as I released it, making sure nobody else saw or felt it.
I looked down at the frightened Mia and said,
"Know your place… trash,"
