Chapter 20: Auction House (1)

I woke up around 10 AM today without an alarm. It was the weekend so I could afford to sleep in, plus the auction was at 1 PM, more than enough time to get ready, eat breakfast, and get to the building.

For the first time in forever, I took a shower in the morning. I then slathered on some milky lotion and brushed my teeth while I was at it.

Walking to my closet, I debated whether I should wear nice clothes or my usual clothes. Buying fancy clothes wasn't that hard since I could get them at the click of a buŧŧon, but I might not wear them after today. Also, I'm sort of sick of dresses since I had to wear them every day.

"Whatever… I'm putting on a mask anyway so who cares what I wear," I shrug while entering my walk-in closet.

I pick out a white, long-sleeved shirt with green squares and circles on it plus some white leggings to go with it. I also put on my new pair of white sneakers which were right next to my old and dirty pair.

The white bird mask that I threw in the corner of the closet, I picked up and shoved into my inventory.

I slipped then slipped my new sneakers on before heading out. The maids and butlers offered me breakfast but I quickly refused since I wanted to have breakfast on my way there.

"Thanks," I say, grabbing the donut from the counter.

I just decided to buy a donut and coffee from a random store on my way to the auction house. I also took many detours so I can finish mapping out New York. The map feature wasn't all-powerful, I could only see the places on my map that I have visited before.

I saw many parks and returned my bank phone since I had no use for it anymore. Also, I couldn't escape the lecherous stares and the usual boys who tried to hit on me.

"Boys are kind of gross, aren't they. Maybe my opinion is biased since I've always been physically bullied by men. It's still hard to believe that no girl physically bullied me, it would always be verbally or spreading bad rumors about me," I mutter to myself, lying on a patch of grass.

The auction house was huge. It was made entirely of white quartz that created pillars, arches, and many of the features that display greatness and wealth. To get in, you had to pass through the golden gates and its security.

In an alleyway, I placed on my bird mask which I withdrew from inventory before walking up to the golden gates. There was a pretty long line full of top-tier families waiting to go through security.

There was no doubt they were top-tier families because the cars they got out of were expensive as hell. You don't even need to know about cars to tell that their cars cost way too much money. Also, their clothes were extremely fancy, even a bit over the top.

Many bodyguards were surrounding the families, especially the children who seemed stuck up and arrogant. Their expressions were so similar to James that I almost threw up in line.

"Thanks," I say in a distorted voice while walking through the golden gate.

Oh, this mask has a voice modifier feature… pretty interesting. No wonder this thing cost $150.

It didn't take me long to get in the auction house since they sent me a VIP++ ticket for an entree. Once the security guards scanned my ticket, they immediately let me through without hesitation, just like the powerful families around me.

Once I pushed through the revolving door, I was greeted by multiple attendants in suits and the grand interior of the auction house. Grand paintings, furniture, and beautiful plants littered the room in an organized fashion.

"Dear customer, are you a buyer or seller for an item?" asks a butler.

"Seller," I respond.

"Please hold out your ticket so we can confirm what item you are selling. This is a necessary process since if you are selling a popular item, you get many benefits that we can't just give away to somebody who claims to be the seller," says the attendant with a smile, while pulling out a scanner.

"Here," I say pulling out my pen phone that hung around my neck.

The attendant scans my screen with a flustered face. He scans it a couple more times while looking back and forth in the direction of a huge door.

"P-please wait here for a second," stutters the attendant before running towards the huge door across the room.

"Are there more than one item being sold here at once?" I ask the lady attendant standing beside me.

"Yes, there is one more auction before the biggest auction we have had in a while. If Luke went to get the auction master then I ȧssume you are the one selling the snake necromancy power stone," the attendants say.

"You're correct… can I see some of the weapons that you have in the auction house currently, I ȧssume you also sell items not just auction them off," I say after seeing some men and women have their ears perk up.

That's normally how massive auction houses worked. They not only did help auction expensive and powerful products, but they should also help sell some items that people put up for sale. Of course they are expensive as well, but it's of less quality than the ones they put up for auction.

"Forgive me, but we'll have to do that later since the auction master is coming here now," says the attendant.

I looked to where the attendant was looking and saw a slim, Asian, man with glasses. He was about 6 feet in height with wavy, long, black hair. Instead of being handsome, he was more pretty. I couldn't tell if he was wearing make-up or that was just his natural face.

"It's a pŀėȧsurė to meet you. You can call me Atlas," says the Asian man, reaching for a handshake.

"It's a pŀėȧsurė to meet you too. You can call me… Q," I said ignoring his handshake.

"It seems you don't like handshakes," says Atlas gesturing for the surrounding attendants to calm down.

It seems I disrespected him by ignoring his handshake, but handshakes can mean many things. A handshake could be that you trust them, which I don't. They are just acquaintances that made me put my item up for auction.

Another handshake could be that you want to build a friendly relationship which is what I want, but you could never tell the intention behind a handshake. I might be thinking too deep into this but after so much betrayal and discrimination, I learned how to avoid manipulative people.

"I heard that you are interested in some of the items we have for sale, we still have some time before the grand auction so let's take look," Atlas says gesturing for me to follow him.

I quickly took him up on his kind offer as we walked down a hallway filled with items in glass cases. There was a wide variety of armor, weapons, materials, items, and of course, power stones.

"I'm not looking for much, I already have a good sword, and… well maybe I need armor. Do you have any armor that is like the clothes I'm wearing right now?" I ask Atlas.

"Of course, please follow me,"

As we continued down the hallway, Atlas wanted to confirm something else.

"Did you get the membership card that I sent to your email? If you didn't please let me know,"

"I did," I respond.

Atlas breathes a sigh of relief before we continued down the hallway. I saw many more expensive products but nothing really caught my eye.

"This here is one of the 2 fabric type magic armor we currently sell. The one here is a bit more expensive but the durability is much greater than the second one,"

In front of me was a purely black set of clothes. It was just a skin-tight shirt and a matching set of skin-tight leggings. If you looked closer, you could see a pattern made from tiny diamonds.

"Is this..."

"Yes, this is made from the scales of an abyss drake. This 2 piece set of clothing may look basic, but it is extremely sturdy and flexible. I guarantee you won't regret buying this product since you can even put it under your clothes if you want," Atlas says, tempting me even more.

"How did you even slay the abyss drake?" I ask.

"Oh, it was slain years ago when the 6 Primordial Braves were still alive. Apparently, they found a mutated draconic dungeon with abyss drakes and the final boss being an abyss dragon," Atlas says.

"How much is it?"

"Since you have the highest form of our membership, you get a 15% discount on any item, creating a grand total of… 873 Million US dollars. Would you like me to take it from the final price of your power stone you're selling?" Atlas asks.

"Please do," I say.

Atlas immediately brings out a pen phone and types something on the screen before showing the many other items being sold.
