Chapter 70: Capsules (2)

"All students, we'll be doing some custom training with a few presets, but at the end of class, we'll have a final round against an Abyss Dragon where you can choose whatever power level you want, as long it doesn't pass your current level," The teacher says as we all nod for confirmation.

You don't really need to say that last part, as you can't set your power to something higher than your IRL power unless you modified the capsule.

We then line up in a single file line as we fill out some basic information in case something goes wrong such as the capsule overheating us, causing us to die, or maybe exploding from an unknown reason… this form basically says that it's not the school's fault if we die.

"Alright, students, please follow me to the next room, and then I'll explain the presets," A female receptionist says as we soon follow her down a long white hallway.

The building was much bigger than how it looked on the outside, so I could only ȧssume it was the work of runes creating a spatial power.

Spatial powers are extremely rare… but they aren't as rare as the death power stone.

You would ȧssume these spatial powers are strong, allowing people to move through dimensions and stuff… but that's not it at all.

People can create slight rifts within the space around them, distorting the laws of nature and affecting the surroundings, such as cutting down a tree or tearing half of a human's body apart.

... So it was pretty useless. But the one good spatial-related power stone is the support stone that gives you a spatial box that lets you store a certain amount of items within a certain amount of space.

"Alright, once we enter, please don't touch anything as these are the prototypes for the latest capsules," The woman says.

Ah, so that's why we had to fill out a form… well, somebody will probably die today as all the prototype capsules were always a bust.

"Not that the more powerful students or I will die from mere overheating or an explosion," I mutter to myself as we walk through the auto-opening doors.

What was presented to us was a massive white room with 46 capsules lined up neatly within the center of the room. They were in a 6 by 6 figure, and the spaces in between each capsule were the same amount of feet as they needed room for the massive cables connected to them.

"Alright, I shall explain the presets then… Lives will be 1, health will be the standard 100, powers and stats are the ones you currently have... But if you don't have a power stone, you will select a lower-tier one once you get the option. Next, the map will be barren swampland, and finally, the monster you will be facing is the titan," The receptionist says with a completely serious face.

Everybody in my class dropped their jaws to the ground, and I wasn't an exception.

"A-Aren't titans supposed to be mythical monsters found in the mythical Z-rank gates," A poorer-looking student says, still clearly in shock.

"Oh, I see you don't know… well, I guess I'll break the news to you as you're a slum folk… Z-rank gates are real, and the titan most definitely exist," The receptionist says blankly.

I guess it was pretty obvious after hanging around the members of Tolf… most things that I thought are fake are most definitely real… And the titan, huh?

The titan, a 4 legged creature that rangers from about 800 meters tall to 1000 meters tall. They're the largest monster to have supposedly existed within dungeons.

But I guess they weren't just myths told down by parents.

They are as tall as the tallest buildings in the world. Plus, they're basically living tanks with their tough skin, dense flesh, and thick bones.

They aren't aggressive even to the things they can see as their eyesight is poor. They're mostly passive monsters, but even if they aren't aggressive, each step of theirs can flatten half a city.

Mom told me that if you ever found yourself under one, you would have to pray and hope that you'll make it out somehow as you aren't escaping.

"Miss receptionist, may I ask why we're going against such an impossible monster?" A haughty and almost leader-like blond kid with green eyes says while stepping forward.

"This is just a test as we have 0 expectations. Just do whatever you would like as this is just a trial run to see if we can actually load such a large monster," The receptionist says while gesturing for us to pick a pod.

"Alright, please enter the pod, students. And after this round, we'll be doing a real raid with some on-level monster bosses," Our teacher says, but most of us were already slipping our feet into the capsules.

I slip my feet into one of the capsules while placing my head into the groove at the end of it. My head fit almost perfectly, and I could feel a tingling sensation on my head as I closed the capsule completely.

"Connected," I hear a robotic voice that seemed not to have a gender.

All I saw was darkness until I blinked once.

I was in a white room with what looked to be a humanoid robot standing in front of me. And just like its voice, it had no gender. It just looked like a regular, standard robot used for war a couple of hundred years before gates opened up for the first time.

"Welcome, Beta Tester… the administrator is currently setting up your party… please wait… please wait… please wait…."

The robot in front of me kept repeating the same phrase, but I myself knew some phrases that work with most dungeon running simulation capsules.

"Mute," I mutter.

"Muting now… Once an important piece of information is given out, the system will automatically unmute itself…."

The robot continues to make the same mouth motions for the words "please wait," but thankfully, the annoyance was gone as I sat down on the hard white floor.

As I looked down, I saw that I was nȧkėd, and when I started to touch my body for any irregularities, I felt my patches of light green feathers on my back.

What other commands are there…

"There are some that come to mind, but I don't think a beta capsule likes this will have them… I guess we can try the first one… Settings, change background, ancient war," I say.

My vision goes dark, and once I blink my eyes once again, my vision returns but this time, I was standing in the middle of an extremely ancient battlefield.

It looked like it was somewhere in Asia as all the soldiers were Asian, wearing massive samurai-like armor, and wielding katanas and long spears.

As I turned my head, I saw an attacking side trying to force their way through an open gate in a massive wall that looked to be busted open.

Blood was shed, but it showed no realistic parts like organs spilling or body parts being lobbed off... just blood spraying everywhere.

"Maybe I should get one of these so Tolf could meet up online instead of always having to meet at the base," I mutter to myself while trying to open my status.

Normally I would've just had to say it mentally or out loud, but both options weren't working in the slightest… it really was like a world separate from our own.

Suddenly, the same humanoid robot from before appeared in front of me, slightly surprising me, causing me to stumble back towards a soldier holding a massive spear with a few red feathers on the end.

But as I was about to hit the man, I just phased through him as if I was a ghost.

"Successfully unmuted… Welcome, Beta Tester… the administrator has finished setting up your party of… 33 participants… as you have no power stone, please select one from the given few below," The robot says, creating a panel similar to my status in front of me while the war around me completely disappeared, leaving the blank white room to appear around me once again.
